We planned Labor day weekend to get floors done and a week before the project date Alex pulled it off. The crew (Leo and his helper) came out - they were on time (big thing for me), clean and polite. The work and product was superb and I would use them and refer them to friends and family. Great work!! Stefni Skorich

On August 19, 2026 we signed a contract with A. J. Carpet & Flooring in Gainesville,Virginia for…read morethe purchase and installation of 1,654 feet of french oaks floors (66 boxes). When we selected the product, we had samples from 3 different vendors, and none of the samples of the same product showed large knots like the ones we received. On August 27th the boxes were delivered to our house. We opened 2 boxes and checked some of the planks and they looked acceptable. The installation was scheduled to start on July 31, 2026. The first day of installation the 3 member crew arrived at 8:00 am. They placed long sheets of plastic in the entrance to the kitchen and formal dining and living rooms to keep the dust from spreading. We were confined in the kitchen area, so we couldn't see what was happening with the installation. Around 11:00 am, on our way to the bathroom, we see the foyer, half bath and living room floor installation for the very first time. We couldn't believe what we were seeing. The installers placed the largest knots in the foyer. The first thing you see when walking into our home are the most unappealing planks. The planks with the bigger knots were placed in a highly visible area. Front and center, to the left and right of front door and coat closet. The planks don't look beautiful and balanced. I expressed my dissatisfaction. Who in their right mind would do something like this? Especially installers with 16 and 14 years of experience according to what they personally told us. What they didn't do was "Culling" which is a separation or sorting out of the wood boxes to remove boards with large knots and use them for closets and areas that are not highly visible. Alex the owner of A.J.Carpet. came over our house and tried to convince us that the planks were "beautiful and that was what people liked", in his attempt to gaslight us. He didn't offer any options, a fix or any solution to address any on our concerns. Thereafter, the installer separated and distributed the planks as they shoud had from the beginning, resulting in a more acceptable installation for the remainder of the house. When the job was completed, the lead installer called A.J.Carpet to express our continous displeasure or dissatifaction with the product and installation. There also was a disagreement between the owner and the lead installer regarding payment for the installation which we shouldn't had been involved in. During this call, Alex, the owner was aggressive, dissmisive and spoke in an unacceptable tone to us. I went to A.J.Carpet on the 14th of September. He would not talk to me, saying he had an appt and he left the building. I asked him to call me and come by the house. We have not heard from him. To those reading my review, please be very careful when choosing a product and choosing the business. They are nothing but order takers and the installers don't take the time to cull the product.

I called/shopped around at Home Depot and a few other local stores and got a few estimates before finding this gem in Manassas. I called ahead of time and spoke with Mark, the owner, who agreed to keep the shop open a little later to accommodate the late time I was getting off work. The customer service and price were the main reasons I finally decided to go with #1 Carpet and Rug. Mark was very knowledgeable about the different types of flooring like carpeting or hardwood. He took the time and helped me choose between different sample options while staying within my budget. I didn't feel pressured (as I did with other places) into buying because he aided me in deciding what was best for my situation. I really appreciate that he took the time to explain the selection of padding and made it a point to order the carpet immediately. The process was very smooth. He came out to personally measure the areas I needed for carpet. The installers came on time, were very professional and friendly, and I am extremely happy with how my carpeting turned out. Mark checked on the progress during and called after the installation to ensure I was happy with the results. The transformation is gorgeous!!! I would definitely do business with them again and honestly recommend them to anyone who is in need of a quality flooring job.

I know when the builder had a few boards replaced that had been damaged during the construction process by other contractors they called them and while I was home they came in and very neatly replaced a few boards. I was skeptical at first, thinking that they would not match, or fit correctly, but 7 years later there has never been an issue with the repairs and even I can't find them to point out. I had my whole house painted and the painters on the last day damaged my floor with an aluminum ladder and scratched it 1/4" deep in multiple places in my entryway. I had the original floor info from the builder but wasn't sure who to call. I asked the builder for the floor installers name, and they told me "executive floors" and sent my info to them. A few minutes later Margie called and arranged an estimate, and for a few hundred dollars my floor damage was replaced by an clean and diligent working craftsman. The repair looks amazing, the repair man was prompt, on time, and left the area cleaner than when he arrived. If you want new floors, or to repair your existing floors I recommend you call Margie at executive floors in Manassas Va, and I'm sure you won't regret it

Ian returned my call promptly and he was both incredibly friendly and very helpful in filling in the pricing gaps that the builder's sales rep had left empty in their pricing.
