I attempted to use this company to replace some carpets in a new home I recently purchased. After agreeing on a day and time to measure, I went down to the location (we had not yet moved), and I waited. As the time was approaching, I texted to get an eta. The gentleman I was dealing with wrote back with no clue who I was or that we had an appointment. I had been in the store as well to speak to them. He did end up showing up after I told them I'd use another company and did a measurement. He told me he would get back with me. The day came and went. I gave him til the end of the weekend at which point I hadn't heard. I called and they gave me attitude. They spoke to me like it was my fault. So rude. I didn't end up using them. The wood floors in our condo were damaged from a plumbing problem and moisture leaks from our windows. In the midst of a pandemic, we spent months trying to find flooring, getting the damaged floor removed and new installed. We were so lucky to finally find Fairfax Floors. They had a huge selection, they came within days to measure, they didn't over promise a delivery date, they worked with our schedule for the installation. Because of the ongoing moisture issue from our windows, we decided to go with Karndean LVP. Their installer, Jong, who also removed the damaged flooring, was incredible. He laid carpet and a kitchen floor for me in 2016. We are selling our home of 22 years and I asked him back. He gave me guidance and counsel on the hardwood floors, upgraded pad, and carpet for our second-floor rooms. It was great he and his team came when agreed ON TIME did the work in a neat, orderly fashion, and clean up when they were done! BTW the floors are carpet look amazing! I cannot say enough good things about this company. They have installed various types of flooring throughout our house over a period of many years. They have always been prompt, polite,and reliable. We usually work with Mike M. and he is helpful to the extreme. Any issues we may have had have always been resolved to our satisfaction. We have had a recent kitchen renovation and needed to replace some of the tiles. We had the tiles but not the other supplies needed for correct installation. I began using Fairfax Floors 10+ years ago to upgrade the flooring in my condo and continue to use them in my current home. After the initial estimate they never followed up or returned our numerous phone calls inquiring about a date to do the work. They finally told our closet vendor that their installation guy "won't work in DC for some reason". If that was the case, they should have made that known before we wasted a half day having them come out for the estimate, and at the very least they should have returned our follow up messages. My husband and I have been very happy with Fairfax floors. Our contractor used them to replace the original linoleum in our kitchen with a floating wood floor. This floor looked very good until an accident with a leaky hot water heater caused irreparable damage. They came out right away when we contacted them to look at the floor and make recommendations. For the replacement, we decided to go with linoleum rather than wood. It looks great and we are even happier than we were with the wood. We have used Fairfax Floors twice now for the installation of hardwood floors in two rooms. Our house was built in the early 1950's but has had a number of renovations/additions over the years which made matching the floor lines to different doorways and rooms very difficult. In addition, one room had multiple layers of linoleum, parquet, carpet, etc. which all had to be ripped out with the concrete slab beneath it leveled off. Jong, the installer, did a fantastic job and took a project other companies thought were too complicated and made it look amazing. Jong was meticulous with his work, and took the time do do the job right. Matt Muller was our rep both times and we have found him to be honest, reliable, and extremely helpful in helping us pick the right floors for the rooms. After 27 years in business, I have used many different flooring companies. I have used ONLY this one for the last 15 years. I have used this company for close to 100 jobs big and small. Carpet Hardwood and Vinyl. For the most part I dealt with Matt. He always showed to give an estimate when he said he would. They have ALWAYS provided top notch service and the job was done when they said, how they said and at the price they quoted. Out of all the jobs they did for me I had only 2 with very minor issues and they were back out immediately and took care of the issue. Red Flag on Fairfax Floors Policy! Ugh-after spending time choosing new carpet for my basement at Fairfax Floors I was presented with my contract. Big Surprise: even though they were expecting an up front 50% deposit from me-in my case $2,172. there were no approximate dates of start/completion of installation on the contract. When I expressed my concerns to the salesman: how can they expect me to turn over $2,2172. on an open ended contract I was told: "I can't give you dates when we don't' have a signed contract." I did speak to the owner on this matter expressing my concerns once again on signing an open ended contract and the desire for an approximate completion date to be included to reassure me my deposit wasn't lost I was told that was their policy and he wasn't changing it. How in this day and age can a business expect someone to agree to an open ended contract on completion of service, pay them a 50% deposit up front and not have anything in writing at that time stating an approximate date of completion????? Red Flag-I did state I was looking for APPROXIMATE date-just to be assured it wouldn't be 2 years out. STRANGE-needlesss to say I am shopping else where. I've used Fairfax floors three times in the last three months, and have installed three types of flooring in two different houses (selling one and buying one). I've been extremely pleased with my interactions with Fairfax Floors, and Matt there was wonderful and very responsive. We put hardwood in 4 bedrooms and the upstairs hall in one house; we initially had a snafu that was unexpected by both of us (me and Fairfax Floors) and Matt went above and beyond in addressing it. We also had our entire new basement re-carpeted, as well as high-end waterproof vinyl planks put in our laundry room. The results and the experience were both great. Pricing is very transparent: it includes carpet pad (if applicable) AND installation and moving furniture, so you don't end up with a pricing surprise. I had a great experience working with this company recently to get hardwood floors installed in a 1BR apartment. This involved first removing wall-to-wall carpeting in the bedroom, existing glued-down hardwood in the living room, and tile flooring in the hallways and kitchen. I got quotes from 3 different companies, and Fairfax Floors gave me by far the most competitive price. My main contact was Matt, who was very easy to communicate with and always prompt in his responses. The installer was Jong, who I think did the work almost entirely on his own in 4 days. I was a little nervous about this at first, because I only had a limited period of time before my scheduled move into the apartment, but he did a fantastic job and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. My hot water heater broke and water went all over my basement. I live in Va Beach, this is my rental property. I called a friend who referred me to Kevin Bisbee. What a lifesaver! I'm sure they are fantastic to some people, namely realtors and big pockets. But I got the runaround from Nate and Matt. Nate reluctantly measured our floors at our home after telling me that I could estimate spending $10-11 per square foot for hardwood. Then 3 days later, he had Matt call us because he was "confused" about what I wanted even though we had discussed what I wanted about 3 times previously. Two weeks later, I called and talked to Matt who pretended he didn't know what I was calling about and promised to follow up since lines got "crossed". Never did get a quote. Meanwhile we got stellar customer service from another flooring company, scheduling a home visit right away, providing helpful advice, and reasonable rates well below the $10-11 estimate. read more

We originally met Matt at Fairfax Floors in 2013 when our remodeling contractor sent us there to pick out flooring for the 1st floor renovation. We also asked Matt to give us a quote to replace the carpet on the 2nd floor but held off on that project. Flash forward to 2017 and we decided it was time to finally replace the 2nd floor carpet and we reached back out to Fairfax Floors. Matt still had our project file with all of the original measurements and promptly emailed us a new quote. Even after 4 years, the price only increased by $1 per square yard which we thought was very fair. From the time we placed the order to the installation date was around 2 weeks. On the installation day, the installers arrived on schedule and got right to work. They moved the 3 smaller bedrooms of furniture into the master bedroom and replaced the carpet in those 3 and the hallway and then tackled the master bedroom and walk in closet last. When they were finished they had all of the major furniture pieces back where they belonged and we only had to do some lighter things like nightstands. The installers did a fantastic job and were very friendly. We can't believe that they got all of the 2nd floor done in one day and how well it turned out.
