Terrible experience here. I called to inquire about having a tattoo done and getting some guidance as to what tattoo artist (s) would be best for the style and design I wanted. I was told to just come in person, so I did. I went there the next day (12/27/23). There was an artist there and another female employee at the front area. I initially talked to the artist who was there and explained that I called, etc., and he says that this female employee (can't remember her name) will help me and guide me. She was NOT helpful at all. I explain to her that I called about getting a tattoo, and that they told me to come in. I explain to her in detail the piece I wanted and ask her for some guidance and recommendations on what tattoo artist would be a better fit for what I wanted. She proceeds to say that I can take a look at the pictures in their books (each book from each artist). While looking at the pictures definitely gave me an idea of the artist's work, I felt I needed more guidance, which I did not get. I then ask the girl, "based on your professional experience, and what I just explained to you, which artist would be a better match for me?" Her answer is, literally, "all of our artist are good." Im like "ok?" She then asks me to look at the books and to let her know which one I wanna choose. After some back and forth and being less than helpful, she offers to call an artist that was there. I think his name is Jose. I talk to him and it is all very transactional. He says to just email him reference pictures, and that he will draw it up and email me back, but he didn't ask anything else about details or the style I wanted. He wasn't even able to give me a price range, despite of me specifically describing what I wanted, showing him reference pictures, and telling him the size of the piece. I understand being hesitant to give an exact price, but at least he should have provided a range. He goes away, and the female employee comes back. At this point, I should have just said thanks and walked away, but I was so excited about getting a new tattoo that I ended up scheduling an appointment and putting a deposit of 100 dollars (plus 3 dollars tax. Really? Tax For a DEPOSIT?). After I got home, I had a bad taste in my mouth about the whole experience. The vibe was just off at this place. So, I emailed them about getting my deposit back because I felt the tattoo artist's style wasn't a match for me. They emailed me back saying this was not refundable and that I can choose another tattoo artist and take my time deciding. I honestly don't remember the girl saying the deposit wasn't refundable. But ok, fair. So I respond sayings it's ok, no problem. And I end my email asking if it's ok if I get back to them by the end of January/beginning of February this year (for an older tattoo touch up). They never responded--it's been 2 1/2 weeks. This place has zero interest providing a good customer service experience, yet they are more than willing to take your money. Don't go here. I've been to other much better tattoo shops where they talk you, LISTEN, GUIDE YOU, and are patient. If I could give zero stars, I would. ---------------------------------- UPDATE: The owner of the shop, Tim, reached out to me and apologized for this one-off negative experience. He offered to return my deposit and has also decided to implement a new policy where you can get your deposit back within 48 hours if you change your mind. I got my tattoo done from here and the work is really solid. Isaac was my tattoo artist and did a great job with the lining and shading. For the size of the tattoo and the time spent, I do think they overcharge. 400 was a bit much for an hour 30 min tattoo. The tattoo looks bigger in the picture than it is. He reassured me it wouldn't be too bad and fairly quick. My kid sister wanted a tattoo for her 18th birthday. I told her do do the research and find a place and she chose Classic Tattoo. Our overall expertise wasn't bad at all, customer service was great and the tattoo turned out really good. However we were charged $250 for 2 lines of roman numerals that's very over priced. The tattoo should have been 1/3 what we were charged. Even with price minimums and whatever else may have been tacked on for walk-in clients. This is already an incredibly established parlor and probably doesn't need this review to validate it as a great place to get some ink. But, here we go anyway! After reading all these great reviews, my friends and I decided last minute to get some tattoos. Walked in with a party of 3 on a Saturday afternoon. Wasn't too busy, but we still had a bit of a wait. Showed a picture of what I wanted done to the apprentice, and he took it directly back to the artist to draw something up. We went back and forth with a few edits and ideas, but this was discussed through only the medium of the apprentice. I have a few tattoos and every time I've discussed what I want, I've discussed it with the actual artists, so that was somewhat new to me. This shop is known for its classic work and two out of the three of us were getting simple fine lines. Nevertheless, they came out great! My best friend and I were lucky enough to be tattooed by John Troeller who has great work and an awesome table-side manner. He was fun to talk to and put us both at ease. My boyfriend was tattooed by Lindsey Carmichael who has a large following on Instagram and for a good reason. His work is amazing and my boyfriend's tattoo is beautiful! It's great that an artist with this rapport still takes walk-ins alongside his appointments. If I look to get another tattoo in the Fullerton area, this will forsure be the place.
