I was a little nervous for the pain (I'm scared of needles) but I was suprise at how it feels kinda good lol. He was so attentive to detail and made sure throughout the process that you were comfortable. I wanted a fine-line tattoo and he hit it OUT OF THE PARK. When we got there he made sure we sanitized our hands and he went over our designs and he edited any changes that needed to be made. He even printed different sizes of the tattoo even though we told him the siZe because he wanted to make sure everything was perfect. He is also VERY reasonably priced. Look no further because JAY is the man that will hook you up. They bandage you with waterproof bandage and make sure to tells you everything you need to know for aftercare. He also gives you a packet of vitamin A and D cream to help you heal. Some tattoo artist makes you go buy creams or try to sell their own, not Jay. I think he is an honest businessman and i took my sister and best friend (of 10 plus years) and they both loved him and his work also. My friend and I both made appointments with Jojo when we saw her beautiful work on instagram. She took both of us at the same time. I wanted to make some changes on the initial design she gave me and she was very patient, kind, and professional about it. The end result is beautiful and she did it in a timely fashion too. I don't do yelp reviews at all but this experience was just too good not to review. I had an awesome experience at Playink Tattoo. Jay was attentive and very helpful when we were talking about my ideas for the tattoo. I had originally wanted to place it on my tricep but he pointed out that the lines wouldn't be straight in some areas because of the muscles. I was honestly bummed but at the end of the day I wouldn't want something that I'm not 100% satisfied with so I took his advice and changed placement to my forearm. I made a great choice switching because now I can constantly look at how freaking crazy this piece is!!! I also wasn't planning on getting any color done but I had a last minute idea of having a red streak on his eye and Jay was supportive with my decision and He even added whites to make certain areas stand out! This definitely passed my expectations and then some! Hmm I guess if I were to give some cons it would be that response times (through yelp) can take longer than what you would expect. I came in with a concept but was still very indecisive. I got inspired from a manga panel and asked if it was possible to scale down the panel and add some other details. My friend and I went on a trip to LA for the summer and wanted to get matching tattoos, so we booked an appointment in advance through Yelp. They were pretty quick at responding. We wanted a small floral (rose and daisy) tattoo on our wrist. The tattoo place asked for a $50 deposit from each of us. When we got there, the tattoo artist Jay worked super efficiently. He asked us for the design and edited it to our liking. Then, he printed out 3 different sizes of both orientations for the tattoo. I asked for some changes and he was really nice about it, making sure we were both satisfied with the design and location on our wrists. The tattoo only took about 30 minutes for each person and the total cost came out to be $100 each for the small tattoo (includes the initial deposit) - which is not bad at all! We both love how the tattoos came out and felt comfortable talking with the artist. I had a great experience here and I highly recommend going here for your tattoos!! If I'm ever back in LA and thinking about getting another tattoo, then I'll definitely come back here. read more

Feeling spontaneous and bold, I decided to get my first tattoo today. I called Playink to see if they were accepting walk-ins. Jay picked up the phone and let me know they were, he asked what I wanted and gave me an estimate over the phone. I told him I was ready to come in whenever he was ready, and a few hours later I was in the shop ready to get inked for the first time. Woohoo! I knew if it took any longer I would lose whatever courage I had and chicken out, but thankfully I didn't have to deal with that scenario. The shop was clean and spaced out, and it is mandated to use hand sanitizer upon entering and wearing double masks. I only had one on, so Jay gave me a second one. I truly appreciate the extra steps they take in maximizing safety and comfort. They are located next to the pre-school with black paint on their exterior. I think they are still getting settled in since they just opened this past April. I didn't see a parking lot, but there's street parking. The newness of the space does not reflect their work though, it's clear Jay is experienced. My tattoo looked so good! We were done in about under an hour or so. I couldn't have asked for anyone better. He helped me with placement and sizing, and helped bring my idea to fruition. I left with the happiest smile on my face. I just got my first tattoo today. I had an appointment and I got in right away. The tattoos artist helped choose the font and added a heart at the end. I said I wanted it dainty and we thinned out the thickness. It was perfect. Oh and 3 ladies were walk ins and each got a tattoo and were finished before my mom and I finished ours. They're nice. I came here after seeing so many good reviews about this place (May 2022). This was my first tattoo and my artist was Jay who was EXTREMELY patient and made sure I was as comfortable as possible during my session. Their studio is very clean and I had a very good first experience! I would highly recommend this place. I also love that they covered my tattoo with a clear bandage (which is not something that all places offer) and sent me home with a cream to keep my tattoo moisturized after I removed the bandage. The studio is incredibly clean and well-sanitized. I was provided with hand sanitizer and a new mask, in addition to having my temperature taken. Everything is very organized and I really like the aesthetic of the dark black contrasting with the yellow! I got a small heart tattoo on my arm and it was $60 for their April promotion (check out their Instagram for details)! I have a little clear waterproof sticker on it and I was told to leave it for four days. Then, I was given some vitamin ointment to apply twice a day afterwards!
