Here's a story and a lesson. Mostly a lesson. Don't get a tattoo on your couch from your ex's friend who isn't a tattoo artist. This was years ago and obviously before my husband. He would never... he'd pay for it. Anyways, I knew what I wanted and when he was done. No one could EVER really tell what it was. I finally decided to go to social media to look for different tattoo artists. I find Matt. Shoot him a message and we finally set up a time and date. I wanted color. Lots of it. I wanted to be able to tell what it was/is. I wanted 3 more flowers for my nieces and nephew. I guess I do have to go back if my siblings pop out more babies. I love the way it came out! It was such a chill and good experience that even though I said no more tattoos. I would go back. read more

I got my second tattoo from Todd, and I can honestly say he is the absolute best at what he does. Not only is he incredibly talented and artistic, but he's also so patient when it comes to helping you figure out exactly what you want. He really takes the time to listen, collaborate, and make sure the final design is perfect. The whole experience was comfortable, professional, and exceeded my expectations. I wouldn't trust anyone else....highly recommend! read more

I came in on black Friday and got an amazing spider tattoo done. All the staff were very kind and considerate, and my artist was amazing. The name really does sum up the vibe of the place: old fashioned but classy, and a very well run establishment. I checked lots of other tattoo parlors in the area to check for things like blowouts, shaky lines, and art style so I knew which place would be worth my time and money and Old Glory Tattoo definitely checked off all those boxes and surpassed my expectations! read more

I designed something that I wanted, and met Big Jay, he took it and made some slight changes. I stopped in later in the week and he had it completed. I found it to be exactly what I wanted. Scheduled an appointment took about two hours, and the work came out perfect. All the staff in the shop was very friendly and courteous, there is a great atmosphere in the shop. THANK YOU BIG JAY!!!!!!!! read more

I've only been telling Matt forever that I would be receiving a side-rib tattoo, and I finally made good on my promise. I brought my 22-year-old son in for a coverup for his botched work as well. I absolutely love his artistry and I would return, except 4 tattoos just "might" be enough for me. What a special time with my son, and great memories with an expert at his craft. Highly recommended !! Now go get your tattoo ! read more

First time here was a few months ago when I got a large tattoo by Todd. It was a cover up and I had searched around for awhile trying to find a new shop. I messaged him showing him my tattoo that I wanted covered up and he had a design for me the next day. I was very impressed how fast he was and how he wanted to help me get exactly what I wanted. And it turned out beautiful. I love it!!! I'm in the process of getting my second one by him soon too. I highly recommend him. You will not be disappointed. read more

Brought my daughter to get her ears pierced for her birthday. Had a good experience the guy we got was very patient with her (she was scared). I'm glad they were willing to pierce her ears not very many tattoo shops willing to pierce a 6yr olds ears! FYI need to show birth certificate and an I.D. read more

I may not be the world's authority on tattoos but one thing I do know is that Matt "Cornfed" Wheeler of Old Glory is one amazing artist. "Artist" is they key here because he is one in every sense of the word; skin just happens to be his canvas. I have one of his pieces of work on my body and I am lucky enough to own three original pieces that hang on my wall. There is only one tattoo shop in Placentia and this is the only one they will ever need. If you want great work done by guys that are true artists then go here. You will not be sorry! PS - Matt's portraits are amazing!!!!!! read more

So I've waited quite some time to write a review from being tattooed, however i still am totally in love with my tattoo 7 months after the fact. I came in wanting a cover up without blasting tons of black which I think Matt pulled off excellently. I love how he really makes tattoos precise and bold, they heal awesome! I surf regularly and do not take proper care in my tattoos with respect to sun damage however his tattoo looks just as good as it did the first day. The atmosphere is awesome and clean. Also nothing but good vibes from everyone there. Will be coming back for future tattoos. read more

I went in for my first tattoo and worked with Todd. All I can say is...the experience was excellent overall. He worked with me until the design was just right, encouraged me to be picky, and gave some great advice on colors, shading, etc. I would recommend this place to any first timer. Thanks again Todd! read more

I've been going to Matt since the old Aces High days, I was 19 and am now 37. I would never get ink from anyone else. He is a professional in every sense , and to this day I love every piece of artwork he has done for me. read more

AVOID this place at all costs. First the owner Matt cancels on me last minute. Against my better judgement I re-scheduled. -Appointment was at 5, took off work early to get there on time. -He said it would take around 20 minutes to sterilize the work area (What?! You knew you had an appt why didn't you do this earlier?) -I sat inside and waited for him for an hour until he asked what I wanted (When I already submitted pictures). -He takes another hour to draw up the artwork -His drunk friends stop by the shop while he's working and he stops, chats with them and leaves the client still waiting. -Starts on tattoo at 7 p.m (remember appt was at 5 p.m.) -Shaky outline work as he had an uneven hand Overall bleepy (rhymes with schmitty) experience and would not recommend. This sucks too because a lot of my friends knew what I was getting and were going to visit this place to get a tattoo based on my experience. Based on what I got he charged $150 an hour. If you look at his portfolio it looks good and based on his drunken friends words he would be nice to you if you were his friend. Which leads me to believe friends with this guy means you'll get respect and the effer will be on time and second of all give you a positive tattoo experience. Hopefully the next person reads this yelp review and thinks twice. read more

Matts the man. I've been going to him since I was 19. he has done two full sleeves on my arms, a chest piece, and currently working on both legs. Lately I will just come in with an idea of what I want and ask him to add his flare, and since I've been doing that I get his best work! very creative with his color and shading! I always get stopped by people asking where I go. I tell them OLD GLORY TATTOO. read more

Aside from being on top of his game, Matt is cool AF. The over all experience could not have been better. All the other reviews (except one asshole) are on point. I would highly recommend Old Glory Tattoo to anyone looking to get a tattoo. Thank you Matt!!!!! read more

Where to begin. First met Matt about 7 years ago when he worked at Aces High and have been devoted to him ever since. His new shop is spacious and uber swanky! Matt is a stand up guy and is truly an impressive artist. I love looking at his sketches and have even chosen a piece that was sitting at his desk once. Can't even remember what I originally came in for! ( I chose a beautiful day of the dead pin up ) I have traditional American pieces and they don't look lik stickers or flash from the wall. All my pieces look very unique and vibrant. I absolutely love my tattoos and get compliments all the time. I am looking forward to our next appointment for my back and just know the end product will be stunning. Thanks Matt for all you do and see ya soon!!! read more

Got my first tattoo here and I love it! Matt made sure everything was perfect and was a great artist to work with.

I've gotten a few tattoos by Matt and they turned out great! (details on the tats further below if you're interested). Old Glory Tattoo, his shop, is a chill place to get work done. I love the design of the shop and always feel at ease when I'm there. It's always super clean, which is something everyone should look for and value in a tattoo shop. Matt is laid back and makes sure you are comfortable as he proceeds throughout the tattoo process. He takes the time to carefully create the design first, then will discuss the design, size and placement with you before laying ink to skin. Matt works by appointment only, so make sure you call ahead to discuss your idea with him and book your appointment. My tattoo details if you're curious: - First was a specific design which I requested he make a replica of, it is an 8-bit style video game design which is pretty tedious and difficult to pull off, needless to say it turned out perfect! - The second tattoo is in progress: a calf sleeve of a colorful phoenix in traditional Japanese style. For this one I wanted to give Matt more creative freedom and my only instructions were the subject (phoenix) and location (calf sleeve). It is nearly done and I'm loving how it is turning out, tons of detail and beautiful color arrangement. I'll post pics once it is complete. read more

Shawna is an absolute gem and did a phenomenal job on a really intricate traditional anatomical heart piece she drew up for me. She drew up several pieces for me before my appointment to make sure it was exactly what I wanted, and was very patient with me asking for any adjustments. She takes her time in her illustrations, which I love so so so much in an artist, and she was such friendly company while I was being tattooed. I appreciate a gentle hand, especially since we were going over lots of tender areas on and around my elbow. Had a much less painful time with Shawna than I probably would have with any heavy-handed traditional artist I've been to (owwwww!), and the final product is absolutely gorgeous. So happy I decided to see her for this one! Old Glory is a wonderful, immaculate shop that really welcomes and takes care of their clients in a professional manner. So stoked to have found a shop in this area with great vibes and even greater work. Thanks guys! I'll definitely be coming back! read more

I got tattooed by a wonderful woman named Shara, who gave me a piece of art I will gladly wear forever. Not only was the vibe of the shop fantastic but I happened to go on a day where it was all woman in the shop; both artists and clients; so the energy was awesome. Shara took my random ideas and created something better than I hoped for. Will definitely return for more work and 10/10 would recommend to anyone. Shara herself is just a really cool person and just a sweet human being. Old glory is da bomb. read more

Came here to get a cover-up of some older stuff I got but never finished in college. I told Matt my idea and showed him a picture. I was super stoked that he thought it was a doable idea. After the first session I was totally amazed at Matt's work and was excited to get the half sleeve finished; this was a big project that needed to use some clever use of the existing patterns and colors. read more

Spent years looking for the right artist. Matthew is a wonder in all this art & music.

Matt is one of the best in Orange County for sure. He did my neck piece and it's amazing.

Matt has been doing my dad's tattoos for years and years so i knew i had to go to him for my first "big" piece. I was nervous having been about 10 years since my last tat. At first he was a bit intimidating and cocky but that soon wore off as i got to know him. He did a beautiful job on the design i had been dreaming of and planning for over 2 years. His style is very tight and bold. strong dark lines and bold colors. Very classic pin up and anchor style which was perfect for what i was going for. read more
