i've been looking for tattoo parlors that allow walk-ins and i found this place, then i realized i had been following them on social media and admiring their work for about a year now! i came in on a monday in hopes that they wouldnt be busy. The studio was very refreshing and clean, lots of waiting area in the front where you can look at all the flashes. I showed the receptionist the tattoo i wanted and she brought it to the artists. immediately a guy came out excitedly saying asking who wanted the bearded dragon (that the tattoo i got) honestly it was exciting to me that he knew what it was and didnt just call it a lizard. He introduced himself as Lincoln and we talked about the design, placement, and price. Then he told me to come back in an hour so he could draw it up. (the area the studio is in is the perfect place to kill time, lots of shops n food around to explore) i came back an hour later and he had drawn the design PERFECTLY! i was so freakin impressed i dont know if all artists are like that or if it's just him but i was amazed. i wanted the exact design i showed him but was expecting it to be a little different because it would be hard to get it perfect buttttt nope he did the exact design! he placed it on my arm and told me to check it out in the mirror then he got to work. this was my first professional tattoo so i wasnt sure what to expect when it came to pain. there was none. he offered me breaks in between if i needed but i didnt need any because of how painless he made it. AND they were playing fleetwood mac which is my JAM. everything about it was just perfect. there was so much to look at while i laid there, lots of funky figurines and stickers around. eventually i dozed off and when i woke up it was done! just like that i had a bearded dragon on my arm. i brought my older sister, who has numerous tattoos, with me and she said she plans on coming here after seeing how great of an experience i had. i am so glad i chose this place for my first tattoo. in just one or two week i've gotten so many compliment on my tattoo (technically compliments to Lincoln) sometimes i just sit and admire the art on my arm. 11/10 recommend! ohhh and Lincoln was able to cover a mini tattoo i gave myself so im EXTRA GRATEFUL for that, it was just embarrassing, now i can proudly roll up my sleeves and show off my arms. This review is for Dave G! I was looking through Yelp for tattoo parlors near my house. This was going to be my 4th tattoo done and I felt like visiting a new parlor for this one. A parlor near home would be a lot more convenient since all the ones I've been to have been decently far. I stumbled upon Fine Tattoo Work, and I'm really glad I did! I messaged the parlor through Yelp on 10/17 and asked if there were any artists available on 10/22 to tattoo a small watercolor piece on me. I received a reply within an hour from Chantal, the manager, and she told me who should be available, and a lot more information I needed to know. Since I was free on this day, I drove to the parlor for a free consultation. I asked for an artist mentioned in the message, that being Dave G. I talked him through about my idea, tattoo placement, etc. and was able to walk about with an appointment booked! He had two large appointments on 10/22, but was kind enough to book me after one of his long sessions. I appreciated this a lot and was stoked to see him again. Fast foward 5 days, I made it to the appointment. Dave went over the details of my piece with me to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. We made a couple tweaks on the piece, adjusted the size, and not long after, the tattooing process began. I absolutely love how it came out! From the very beginning, I have felt very safe and welcomed by FTW. I was going around Yelp looking for a place to do my first tattoo and Fine Tattoo Work caught my attention. She answered all my questions before and after getting my tattoo and made the entire process extremely easy and painless. My tattoo was more spontaneous as I was celebrating the anniversary of my brother's passing, but the team was able to accommodate me and my wishes. My piece was done by Felix (who I chose) who is a great conversationalist and made my session go by really fast and painless. I was nervous at first since this was my first tattoo, but he's got a great hand and has lots of photos on his social media of his previous work. The shop is right on Chapman and can be hard to find if you're driving pretty fast, but inside was nice, clean, open, and bright.
