2024: I had a huge, gnarly tattoo that a friend of my ex did in his literal backyard. That should explain a lot! I was SO embarrassed by it. The colors were weakly pigmented, and the lines were uneven -- just a mess. Brynne came up with two designs to hide it away. I picked this one (obviously), and she tattooed it that day. She's gentle with her work, but these colors were so vibrant and deep that I immediately loved them! My photographer at my wedding loved it so much, she grabbed a shot! 2025: I came back after seeing a super cute praying mantis "girl dinner" idea on Instagram. If you missed it, the joke is that female praying mantises rip the head off the male ... and eat him. Of course, the original design was cute, but I wanted Brynne to make it unique. Came upon this shop when putting out feelers for my next tattoo. It was my birthday and I sat around waiting to decide if I wanted to go or wait another day. I felt sooo bad because I arrived maybe about 10 minutes before the shop was closing after driving 55 minutes from Corona. It was a very impulsive last minute decision, but I knew I wanted a special tattoo in honor of my grandfather who passed. The lovely artists were incredibly patient and sweet. They were able to accommodated me, even turned the music back on and my cousin and I danced in the waiting area as Michael got everything ready to set up. It took maybe 10-15 minutes and it was done ! I absolutely love this tattoo and how well the ink shows up on my chocolate complexion. It's amazing and definitely beyond my expectations on such short notice. I don't recommend doing what I did with the last minute pop up, but I do recommend getting your next tattoo here! read more

I was referred to Colin Dowling for a tattoo about eight years ago. My father had just passed away and I felt like a lone wolf. He did a phenomenal job on a small but intricate finger tattoo of a wolf's head. He created the design and I loved that it wasn't a sad wolf but a freaking feral beast. I had been warned that finger tattoos don't always last since your hands are more exposed to the environment than other parts of your body, but it lasted and it's in there. Fast forward to the present time, I had moved out-of-state due to my mother's passing and decided I needed a touch-up because I'm really a lone wolf now. This is a late post as my tattoo was done early July, but here it is at last... I cannot say enough about this shop let alone my artist, Joel Bones!!!! The friendly staff and overall environment made getting this piece an awesome experience. Joel Bones had my eye as far as overall concept I was going for in my piece. I reached out to him via email and he is very good at responding promptly. I appreciate this personally. He is open to concept and will advise in his feedback of ideas. After a cohesive banter, we finalized the layout. And may I just say a night and day difference from initial consultation of ideas. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. His insight is tremendous, so take it for what it is PLEASE, you will not be disappointed. Overall, his hand is extremely pleasant. The highest pain level I got, again this is me and everyone has a different pain level, was a 6/10. Some detail was not even felt as well. Another thing I appreciated from the service of the shop, was they will go get you food/beverage if you want or need. Shout out to Miss. Mary for this service!!! You rock girly!!!! If you don't remember you artist then they will make you think you are crazy for coming in for the touch up you need that they made you convience. I've been looking for good tattoo artists and shops in the OC/LA area and out of all the shops I called, Gold Rush had the best customer service over the phone. Many people I called sounded unsure of themselves and unenthusiastic but Gold Rush was kind and provided me with all the info I was asking for. I came in as a walk in and was helped out by Bryson who was really chill. My tattoo artist was Justin, and he did a wonderful job tattooing me and drawing up the design from my references. I had a very detailed fine line piece done by him and I'm in love with it. Justin has done 3 tattoo's so far for me (he is actually the only artist I went to again because I had such a great experience) and I have loved every one. He can take an idea and completely run with it, making it even better (for example, the cowboy frog came from this very basic outline of a frog wearing a western hat). He also has a great, easy-going personality and can make people feel assured they are in good hands as well as making sure you are doing good throughout. That all being said, the shop itself has a great vibe and all the artists seem to be great and extremely likable. They can joke around, talk about whatever and involve their customers/clients making you feel at ease and like you're just around your friends, but at the same time are true professionals and are serious and focused when it comes to the artwork. One of the things that always turned me off shop's in the past is when you walk in and have those artists and such that try way too hard to be tough and masculine to clients as if they have to prove something, but Gold Rush and its artists are in no way like that, which is something I can really appreciate. I have only had great experiences and highly recommend the shop to anyone looking to get some tattoo work. Brynne was great from making the appt to doing the actual work. It does take a few days to hear from her via email, but this is industry standard. (And, actually faster than some!) I just hate calling on the phone, and live too far to pop in, so that's on me. I emailed her SEVERAL designs of different Frida Kahlo samples of varying artisitc quality. I was still undecided about which one I *really* wanted but when I arrived for my appt, she had already mocked up a stencil of the last one I sent her. The one recommendation I'd make is that if this is similar to your situation, maybe tell her first so she doesn't waste time making a stencil if you're not ready. It was so beautiful I just reacted, I LOVE IT so went with that. (I'm not usually that capricious!) The whole process was great (as good as being scratched by a kitten on a sunburn can be) due to how easy she is to talk to, and how patient she is, checking in to see if you need a break or anything. (I initially asked if she'd mind if I zoned out with netflix, watched for about 2 mins, started jibber jabbing with her and no more netflix) This was only my 2nd work (the first one took all of 4-7 minutes) so she was really conscientious about monitoring me. She had told me beforehand that it would prob take about 1.5 hrs. It took approx 1.5 hrs! I will admit to being slightly nervous a few days later, wondering if I was being a poser by having gotten somewhat of a copy of someone else's design. BUT funny enough, I hadn't even noticed that the sample I showed her was somewhat flat, not dimensional, and not detailed. Brynne made mine SO much better! There are flowers, leaves, and Frida's face. Brynne's work has more detail in the leaves and flowers, show the hairs in her hairdo instead of just solid black, and beautiful realistic shading in the face. Most importantly in a Frida design: She created a more noticeable brow--key for F. Kahlo! End result is as if an art instructor assigned a portrait of Kahlo, and no offense--the original work gets a "B+", but Brynne's is a solid "A." So, not an exact copy but rather an improvement upon the design. My only complaint about the finished product is that DANG I never realized my tan had gotten so dark...this would look so much better on pale skin. Yet Brynne didn't offer me any help with this...(haha, shoulda been better with the SPF duh) HIGHLY recommend this lovely, funny, friendly lady! Just be aware YES there will be swearing in the shop (it's not a dr's office) but in no way will you feel uncomfortable except for that aforementioned cat scratching. Everyone who I encountered was nothing but polite and friendly. Overall, a very solid, positive experience. Brynne's expertise is undeniable, and her beside (table-side?) manner made it fabulous!! xo read more

An absolute pathetic place all around! I can't believe how rude they were towards me and so short with answers. So I tried to look past the horrible customer service, thinking the ABSOLUTE RUDE ordeal was done. . . . I proceeded to ask a question. This review is in regard to lack of transparency with pricing - my partner and I were completely ripped off on 2 nickel sized fine line tattoos earlier today. We called ahead and were quoted a $100 minimum for the tattoos. While the artists and tattoos are good, the store was not clear that it was $100 each for the tattoos since they were done by separate artists. The tattoos took 15-20 minutes each and rather than having us go to the same artist they set us up with different people.
