Guys I've been here several times, along with my best friend and every time I come back it's to get tattooed by Jes, she's the absolute bestttt and her line work, shading, and accuracy is perfection!! She's so fairly priced and she deserves alll the hype, i can't speak about her highly enough....let me just tell you, if i didn't think the world deserved to know about her awesomeness then I'd definitely be gatekeeping her haha. What a great experience! My daughter and I came to Newport Beach for her spring break and decided to get matching tattoos. Not being from the area, I did some research on the net and said research brought me to Balboa Tattoo and it did not disappoint. Rick and Jess were kind and professional and knew exactly what they were doing! Because of Rick's work, I added on a simple tattoo while still on the table getting the first one done. I walked out with three and my daughter walked out with her first one! Great atmosphere and great experience! Go now! You won't regret it!

Came in for a spontaneous tattoo and it became a whole amazing thing. Cj was very sweet when we came in and made it an incredible experience. The vibes at the atmosphere were exactly what we'd been looking for. Rick was the one who did our tattoos and he was so light handed I was shocked to find out I was already finished with my design. We sent her my design ahead of time and when we came in she had the design available in different sizes for us to see. Everything was so quick once we decided on sizing. This review is overdue. I waited a couple years to hear back from business . Not sure if they ever received letter . So we went during Covid - appreciate there was a place open. TJ was super nice and so was his coworker. Unfortunately, the "G" didn't come out very well . The top portion was a bit overdone (ink bleed) - much darker and the bottom faded really fast (photos attached ) . And didn't really look like a G . Lots of people questioned me as to what it is / was . I'm sure it's harder to do this type of tattoo . It's small - the area . Definitely don't want to bash anyone. TJ did tell us that he wasn't the greatest at this type of tattoo - so I was surprised that he went on to draw it. Honestly , I probably shouldn't have proceeded. Cost me $80 for the tattoo and so far $500 to work on removal process. Don't live in the area so I couldn't go back to address. But did send a letter and was hoping for some compensation. Live and learn . Like I said , don't want to bash anyone but definitely not happy with the results :( Looking at reviews , most people are happy with their results at Balboa so that's good. read more

They actually told me to F off because my nephew mom said no. He is 18 wants a tattoo and they were so rude never in my life. I never faced anything like this. Mason helped me again today when I couldn't get my navel piercing put back in. I had left my jewelry out for a week and I couldn't install it into the piercing by myself because the piercing had collapsed and trying to put the a piece in was painful, really tight, and dangerous to do by myself. I made a call during my break and was immediately given an appointment, they were so accommodating and patient with me when I came in and gave me different options for more conservative jewelry for work. And bless both of their souls, they stayed a little bit past closing and didn't pressure me into buying something I wasn't sure would be approved. Also, Cat did an awesome job when I first got my piercings with my boyfriend, he now has a nostril ring and I have a vertical labret which we got done about 3 years ago on our first Christmas together. Both have healed wonderfully, especially given the sensitive area mine is in. And mind you, I STRUGGLED to take my jewelry off, I used gloves, bare *washed* hands, and even a paper towel to try and take off my previous bar and when it was switched, it was so effortless and painless, I almost didn't tell when the retainer went in. Barbella studios is kind enough to let you know when a piercing won't work (was advised that a brow piercing is a no-go but the vertical labret was perfect), humorous when they give you aftercare advice so you'll for sure remember, and most importantly are clean, careful, and mindful for their client's safety and budget. Her pricing already includes the earrings, which was a plus. The entire experience was thoughtful and professional. She first applied numbing cream and let it sit for about 20 minutes. She then placed a headband on our daughter to keep her hair out of the way, carefully marked both ears, and had us verify that the placement looked even before proceeding. Our daughter cried at first, which is to be expected, but once she saw her reflection afterward, she smiled! We really appreciated how gentle, patient, and detail-oriented she was throughout the process. It made what could have been a stressful experience much easier for both baby and parents. As expected, I was met with top-tier customer service, true to the shop's personal brand. I feel confident coming back for future piercings. 1 star. Would not recommend. Save your money. Thanks a lot Jess. I went in with a clear reference image and a simple design, a small line-art fox on my forearm. What I walked out with barely resembles what we discussed. Here's everything that went wrong: The lines are shaky and uneven. For something that was supposed to be clean line work, the outline wobbles in places it shouldn't, especially around the tail and ears. It looks like it was done freehand without a stencil, even though I was told one would be used. The proportions are off from my reference. The fox looks stretched on one side. When I mentioned it mid-session, I was told it would "settle" once healed. It did not. The artist rushed the appointment. What was booked as a two-hour session took maybe 40 minutes. Looking back, that explains a lot. Healing was worse than expected. There was noticeably more scabbing and patchy fading than any of my other tattoos, and now there are visible gaps in the saturation that make it look like a bad stick-and-poke rather than professional work. Customer service after the fact was dismissive. When I reached out about a touch-up, I got a canned response about "tattoos settling differently for everyone" and no real offer to fix it. I've had tattoos before that healed beautifully. This is the first one I actively want to cover up. If you're considering this shop, ask to see healed work, not just fresh photos, and don't be afraid to walk out if the session feels rushed. read more

Horrible job done by TJ. Didn't even spend a full 20 minutes on my tattoo. I have gone to him before and thought he did good work but this is a disgrace. I added my picture for reference. I did ask to change to more of a sunflower/daisy type flower but otherwise wanted the tattoo verbatim. The constellation is uneven with the dots and doesn't create straight lines. The stems don't line up to each other and flowers are so poorly done it's comical. The best part is sitting there talking with the tattooist who wouldn't stop going on about an old tattoo friend of his who molested a child and got arrested for it. I don't judge him or think he's a bad guy for once being friends with the predator, but he easily could have chosen a better conversation topic. When I called to complain they changed the time of when a manager would be in twice and didn't offer any resolution to the issue. Overall a horrible experience and do not recommend. read more

These guys are absolutely amazing! Some of the nicest people I've ever met. Story time my friend and I went on a whim while at the beach to get tattoos and walked into a different shop, the artist there were extremely rude and wouldn't even give us the time of day. The vibes were just off ya know, we felt we were just was not welcomed and better off not even getting one anymore .Walking back to the car feeling defeated we passed by this shop and decided to try one more time and woah I'm sure glad we did! They instantly took us in, talked us through the entire process, and gave me the best first tattoo I've ever had. Absolutely amazing place to get your tattoo done. Rick is one of the most humble, kind and genuine people you could meet. I went by yesterday to talk about what I wanted, he drew up 2-3 different ideas last night. I went in today looked at what he prepared and he got to work immediately. He had really spent time on capturing the details I wanted. He also did a brilliant job blending it into the tattoo I have beside it. I would first like to start this by saying I came here 4 years ago for my first tattoo and asked to get a compass with a friends initials encorporated in it. I had the "artist" named Jessica Abbey volunteer to do it and I came back the next week to get it done. She was either hungover or loaded when she did my tattoo ALSO she had invited one of her friends to come in while she tattooed me without asking. Her friend only talked about all the coke they did the night before and clearly was distracting her. I received a pretty horrifying tattoo for the first tattoo I have gotten. I was extremely impressed with his portfolio. I haven't gotten a tattoo for over 10 years so I wanted to make sure I find a good one AND who had done a Kobe tattoo before AND who's local!!! Tony fits every categories!! I had to wait 2 months to get an appt with him because he was all booked up, that tells me he is good!!!! The outside of the shop looks pretty small, but when you walk inside, it looks like a paradise!! It's nice and clean and very modern. There are 2 small seats and a bench on the right side when you walked in. They have 6 tattoo stations, 3 on each side, and one eyebrow station at the back. This place is NICE!! I was at the shop for 6hrs from 11am-5pm. Tony greeted me when I walked in, then we went over all the details for my tattoo, he never rush his work, he is very patience and make sure everything is perfect before he starts the inking. We were suppose to do my tattoo in 2 sessions but we actually did it in one!! I m very satisfied with his work and I would DEFINITELY get another tattoo with him in the future!!!

After looking at the shop and their artists' work on Instagram, I decided to reach out to Dannon. I loved her style and several of her pieces spoke to me! I wanted a cute snake with a cowboy hat on, and Dannon nailed it. It was exactly the vibe I was going for and turned out great! The shop is in downtown Santa Ana, it's woman owned, and has some great artists that have space there. Great vibe, very friendly. Today, Joe made it permanent for me and he nailed it. Perfectly The pictures tell the story. Joe is one of the owners of Bemidji's newest tattoo shop, Cryptid Tattoos. The shop is fantastic. Spacious, clean, comfortable, and welcoming. And at a convenient, quiet spot on the edge of downtown B-town. Cryptid has everything you'd like a tattoo shop to have. that can't be said for all of them. Total class. it's a beautiful thing he and his partner are doing for the Bemidji inked.
