I came here for my first professional tattoo. I was quite nervous because although I've gotten a tattoo it's entirely different getting it from some random then a professional licensed artist. But as soon as I sat down in that chair I wasn't nervous anymore Jason aka j-dog was so sweet and funny and he didn't make me feel bad or pressured for the design I wanted. Ok so I hate writing reviews but I just needed to give a shout out to Ryan who has done 3 tattoos total for me and has fixed 2 bad ones I had done in my youth. He is so professional easy going laid back guy and did a fantastic job on my tattoos, when I needed a break he gives it to me no problem and he entertains all my silly questions I have when I'm sitting trying to take my mind off the pain. Just had two tattoos done in the last month by J-DOGG and I couldn't be happier with them. His work is amazing. I came in with what I thought was a pretty complicated piece, but he nailed it. He worked with me to get it exactly the way I wanted it, gave me suggestions on how to make it stand out more, and then knocked it out in one quick sitting. My second tattoo done by him? Same story. I'll post some pictures. You can read all the reviews you want about a tattoo shop or artist, but until you see the work they do, it's pretty hard to convince anyone. I got my very first tattoo here! It's on the inside of my ring finger, so I walked in fearing the worst pain. The shop was super clean and the staff made me feel really comfortable. The tattoo didn't hurt nearly even close to as bad as I was anticipating, just light pricks for a few minutes and I was done! There was plenty of parking and it was super easy to find. One thing I wish I had knew ahead of time is that they strongly prefer cash. While they do have an ATM in-store, I would have preferred to know beforehand and avoid the extra ATM fee. I was so nervous that my hand was shaking nearly the whole process. This is why I'm not super upset that it's not perfect, because it's kind of my own fault, but I think I might go in to get the right part of the cross touched up as it doesn't look the best right now. I have only gone to this parlor twice for the same tattoo but both experiences were awesome. The artists are friendly and it's a positive vibe all through out the shop. Prices are super reasonable as well! For my first session, my artist ryan was super understanding about me needing to take a break here and there during my 4 hours of getting tattooed. My second session was only around an hour but I was still just as comfortable as the first time around. Like I said Ryan did my tattoo, and he's amazing at what he does. First, the basics: ~professional, sterile work environment ~friendly, helpful staff ~very reasonable prices ~worth revisiting Now, my story: My boyfriend and I got our second tattoos together (my second overall, his third). We went to visit his best friend/brother in Orange, and we knew we had to get tattoos while we were there. We both had our ideas in mind for months, and were sure about what we wanted. We went to three different parlors close to Chapman (where we were staying) and Lefty's gave off the best first impression by far. We set up our appointments one after the other with J-Dog. We ended up rescheduling for earlier because we were so excited, and it was easily done. I took note that parking was sufficient, even though we just walked. All our questions and concerns were met with knowledge, experience and professionalism. They did things differently from what I experienced with the last place I went to, but I chalked it up to it just being a different area, with different people and different methods. My boyfriend and I both brought in custom designs that J-Dog was able to improve on as an artist, but kept to our original visions. He even offered an alternative option from his own artistic vision. We are both VERY pleased with our tattoos, and although we both already had ink done before, J-Dog was still sure to go over all the necessary aftercare instructions with us to make sure we knew how to keep them healthy and looking their best. I am probably quite biased in my ranking system, and I could just as well give Lefty's five full stars, but it concerned me on a level of personal preference that when switching to white ink, there was no needle change. The artist my boyfriend went to before changed needles between every color, especially white, to avoid dulling the new color. There didn't seem to be a problem in the final product, but I thought it worth mentioning. read more
