Cece was FANTASTIC!! The top of my daughter's dress had to practically be taken apart and rebuilt. First off THEY ARE LIFE SAVERS!! I called them 4 days before my wedding completely unsatisfied with my dress. I had to order it two sizes bigger due to ordering availability and I had alterations done at another place but the lady there had only altered the top. When I took the dress home I did not have the same feeling as when I first chose it and realized the bottom was too big. I called Classic Tailors on Tuesday morning as soon as they opened and asked if she could get me in and she responded "come now". Cece is wonderful! She is skilled, honest, patient, and I wouldn't trust anyone else with my wedding dress. My wedding dress alteration experience started off rocky. I purchased an expensive silk gown. The moment my dress arrived from NYC something was amiss. The bodice was twisting and rolling along the neckline and the material was puckering (no matter what Cece did). After several alteration appointments, I was at the end of my rope. I knew it wasn't Cece's fault, but I also knew the dress was unwearable. I bought a backup dress off the rack and was prepared to part with my "dream" gown. Cece refused to give up. On her personal day, she took my dress apart. She re-measured, re-cut, and re-stitched my gown herself (in doing so, she discovered several errors in the original making of my dress--uhg!). Before I came to Classic Tailors, I went to a place closer to my house, and that place was going to charge almost twice the amount Classic Tailor charged.They were very friendly, helpful, and in my opinion, very quick. Extremely expensive for poor workmanship. My dress was in mint condition when I left it for alterations. I tried it on at work and several coworkers have pictures of me in the dress at the time it arrived from China. I went for second fitting and owner, Jeannie, told me "she didn't notice originally that the hem hung crookedly. She said I could wear it that way or have her fix it....Evidently she or her worker erred while taking in the dress and did not "own up" to it. She CHARGED ME ANOTHER $100 to fix their poor work. (This on top of the original $200 to take in the dress). This repair of the hem changed the entire look of the tea length dress and made it several inches shorter. My expectations were not met at this place. Jeanne is overworked and does most of her sewing at night at home. She seems like a nice person, but I canNOT recommend this place. read more

Cece is amazing! She did my dress for my wedding, which was a VERY difficult dress to alter- actually two dresses in one. It was the most perfect fit, too! She is so patient and has great ideas about what alterations to make and I learned to just trust her, because with just one fitting, it was already basically perfect! She also made my veil, which was beautiful. My mom had Cece re-alter her dress after she went to a very expensive alterations place on Post Oak that couldn't/wouldn't get her mother of the bride dress to fit correctly. My wedding was back home in Brazil so I wanted to be sure I had the perfect tailor. I bought my dress at Houston Bridal Gallery and they recommended Cici. I though she was expensive so I looked around for other options but ultimately I stuck with Cici because she is truly the best for a great price. My dress was super complicated required lots of bustles, so I was very anxious about making sure it was done right. And Cici really delivered. My dress was perfect and beautifully done. Lots of people did not want to even tackle the challenge of the dress, but Cici tackled it head on. Picking her to be my seamstress was the best decision I made. I had bridal alterations here and I also had a mother of bride dress made. I'll start by saying that the owner is a nice person but ultimately, she's lacking in the skill and professionalism I expected to handle something this important. This was the most stressful experience of all my vendors. MY BRIDAL I bought my dress in another state from a well-established shop that offers alter-until-you-love-it for $750 (awesome price by the way). This dress like is particular to this shop and very detailed so I had reservations about bringing it home rather than just traveling to get the alterations done there. Sounds crazy but when you buy a dress, you're not only in love with it but it also becomes a financial investment. I also didn't want the reverse situation: a 2000 charge. With all the above in mind, I asked a ton of questions through my planner regarding if CC would be comfortable. I was assured there would be nothing she couldn't do and had many years of experience. I was pleased generally at first - CC was nice and her pricing was very reasonable. The only issue I did have was walkins and others coming in during my (and moms appointment) I did a bridal portrait shoot as a trial run. Seeing pictures I realized that my dress had somewhat lost its shape. I'm a hippie girl than average so despite going up a size for that, I had CC take it out. Problem is, I'm petite up top so I have to be careful not to lose shape. I asked CC to take in waist. She got upset. She complained about all that she would have to do to take it in, chided me and then said she could mess up the dress so I shouldn't do it. Went through more than one round of this conversation and in all occasions I made it very clear I didn't care about the cost. Despite losing 15 pounds, it no longer had a waist. On my last fitting, which had more walkins & she was sewing something else, I just settled. Someone found me another tailor who in 3 days altered the dress exactly as I wished for a small cost. When I went to him to explain every limitation CC told me, he said that it actually wasn't a big deal. He took in waist, found bust to be too wide and it looked perfect. Points CC should have known or didn't feel like addressing. MOMS DRESS I wanted my mom to look stunning p. My planner told me CC could make a dress and while she was hesitant at first to do so (citing time required), she eventually committed and at points seemed excited.You'll ask why I wanted it made rather than bought. My mom is very small and petite everywhere but her midsection. She had lost 25 pounds but still it was harder to find things to fit her, especially on her back. Scoliosis impact is visible. I picked a design and fabric. At first, CC put an incredible amount of time in the beginning - drawing it out, communicating etc. I felt comfortable with her. The first fitting, was very raw. Second fitting, we spent about an hour shaping. Looked awesome; everyone agreed. My mom then went to a fitting alone and when I went with her to the next, the dress did not look like the "awesome" fitting at all. Unfinished and like a bag. CC fought was like that and later speaking to my planner, claimed my mother told her to unpin the dress "in private" to make it less fitted. I was so upset (this was a different style for my mom but she endured she'd follow my lead in the design and fit). So I asked my mom why. She responded she didn't. If there's one thing I know about my Mom, she's honest. If I approach her about something, she's going to be honest. She can't help it. She got really upset - I wish I hadn't asked her because she cried about it multiple times saying she wouldn't have done that. When relaying that to CC, she says yes my Mom did. Calling my mother a liar is a major issue. Way over the line. When planner intervened, all the sudden some things that couldn't be done were. Very clear where she took shortcuts. The dress, which cost $800 including fabric, was really not pretty. Had about a week left before the wedding and had been working on this since April. In the end, my mom's cousin found her a dress last minute at a formal store she frequents in Lafayette. She never wore CC's. I had taken it to two other alternators - hard to reverse the stitching. So as you can see, it was a long journey and many appointments to come here for two important bridal appointment. Both ended in disappointment; both another option. We tried to discuss with CC after the wedding. She was defensive, all ignoring three simple points 1) she chose to do something different 2) didn't take responsibility when we said that wasn't ok and 3) likely did so because she was overwhelmed by her business. (ie walkins during our sessions). read more

Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had with a tailor. I bought my dress too small but it fit my waist and hips well. It did not fit my back and bust which is normal for me and dresses. Obviously I had to have a corset put in so the dress would fit. Not only did she (the main consultant/owner) consistently tell me I needed to loose weight to fit into my wedding dress for 2 months, but she messed up the corset when she put it in. It was bunched up at the bottom of the corset. She told me that the reason the back was bunching up at the waist was because I needed to loose weight. But in reality, the corset had been put in incorrectly. The only part of my wedding dress that fit properly before she altered it was the waist, where it was bunching. I saw her every other weekend until my wedding day (starting two months in advance). Needless to say, she put in the corset 2 months before my wedding but not once did she change it. At the final fitting a week before my wedding, she kept pressuring me to have the dress taken out in the waist "or lose weight". I felt insecure so I agreed. When I picked up my dress it was too loose, but STILL bunched up in all the wrong places. Unfortunately My wedding day was only days away and I had been driving 2 hours to see her so I couldn't do anything else. My wedding pictures show my dress bunched up in the back where the mistake was but also in the front because the dress had been let out. (It was tight on my busy but now too loose everywhere else). Aside from that, my bustle didn't stay at all and I had to carry the dress all night. What a terrible way to feel about a dress you're supposed to be in love with, isn't it? read more

As a bride, there is nothing more nerve-wracking than dropping off your true love dress with a stranger to take care of it and alter it correctly. I personally have never had to have alterations before so I was even more nervous. Classic Tailors was WONDERFUL! I needed significant alterations in the top, and it was done seamlessly. My dress had A LOT of detail (lace, beading) and you would never know it was altered. She doesn't try to take your money either which is so nice! I had two formal dresses altered for my daughters. The first one was simply a hem for $120, which seemed high, but it was done well. The second dress involved shortening straps and taking in the bodice , followed by a hem. The taking in and strap shortening was quoted at $155 dollars. I requested only the strap shortening and not taking in the bodice. When we went to try on, all the altering had been done, including taking in which I had declined. I received an apology for not following my request, but still charged. Then the hem was to be completed three days later. I went to pick the dress up 5 days later, and they had not started the hemming. Our function was in two days. They did have it completed the next afternoon, less than 24 hours from the function for full price. The hemming was uneven. Majority of the tailoring looked good, but at a very high cost. $295 for alterations for one dress, which were not all approved with poor customer service. We will not be back. read more
