I knew I wanted a tailor that was Vietnamese because of the cultural value and understanding of our garments. Most for overly priced and short with their customers. Before moving to Houston I had a tailor and she was perfect. It's been hard trying to find one here that does not overly charge you. I had another Ao Dai with the same issue and had it altered and they charged me almost $20 for one which took about two weeks. Just noticed I never hit submit on this review. Used service April 2021. But all the below still holds true! Oooh M Geeeee!!!! I finally found my new cleaners and tailor! You guys don't know what this means. I'm very tall and tend to need to get my clothes altered. My prior cleaner/tailor closed & I've been using them since high school. It's been very hard to find someone with both services at great level. This was my 1st try and it was dangerous. Not only did I need a pair of pants rehabbed, 1 pair altered, but also my son's tux needed prep for prom. Yes very dicey deal. Though she was w/ a young lady, I was greeted soon as I walked in the door. I knew I was in good hands as I watched. Couldn't understand the language, but body language & the tell all "ooooh" from the young lady said it all. She wanted to change sleeves & waistline of dress, but tailor was showing her it wouldn't look right. Most would just say ok, take the money & let you walk around looking like a fool. When she got to me, she listened & confirmed everything. My clothing was ready on time. My son's tux was amazing & pressed to perfection! As were my repaired items. And icing on the cake is they're reasonably priced. I've used "high end" services & items looked like I used $5 WalMart iron. I highly recommend giving this place a try. read more

I purchased two Polo Hawaiian shirts on sale that was one size too large for me. The shirts were 50% Off and I loved them So took a chance finding alterations that I could afford. After buying the shirts I went home and found a list of Alteration Shops and started telephoning them for prices. Let's say I was very shocked when They all had about the same basic price which was about $30.00 plus any additional work you wanted done. Luckily I made another call after wanting to give up and gladly surprised when telephoning TRAN TAILORS after she told me $15.00 ! This included shortening the shirt . When I went to pick up my shirts I tried them on and they fit perfectly Plus she dry cleaned them. She does terrific alterations as well as Dry Cleaning- I would recommend 100%- A+ read more

I've been coming here since high school (I graduated in 2000). They've done tons of hemming up pants/dresses, altering formal dresses with intricate beading, and several alterations on high end designer dresses. I have very expensive Italian suits, Giorgio armani, Emporio Armani, RL Black Line, etc. I was referred to Trans Tailor to get my suits custom fitted, everything turned out great! My suits look fantastic, fits me like a glove, no complaints. I've also had button down dress shirts retailored to get a fitted look. I'm very very picky about my clothes. I receive a lot of compliments about my clothes and people ask me how do I find shirts the fit me so well. I tell them to get it fitted at Trans Tailor. I use to live in the area but now live in River Oaks and I still make the drive to get clothes tailored. I've had a few hiccups here and there with their tailoring, not sure if I conveyed what I wanted exactly but again i have OCD when it comes to clothes, so that being said they were quick to make any changes I request after the fact. If I could rate them a negative stars I would. I dropped my work clothes off to get a few items hemmed and they told me it would take a week until they were ready. I came in a week later and they were not finished, in fact they hadn't even started on them because I saw them on the floor how they were when I dropped them off. The woman told me to come back in a few hours so I did and I saw them working on the second item and told me to come back the next day. I saw that it was not even started after waiting a week for clothes I needed ready, drove back two separate times for them to not be done. 116 dollars later and no discount for having to drive there several times and wait after they had ample time to hem my items. Extremely lazy and inconsiderate business. NEVER COME HERE!!! read more

If I could give negative stars I would because this cleaners doesn't even deserve the 1 star I'm forced to give. I dropped off my sons brand new school clothes off specifically telling the lady at the front no crease on the pants. When I picked them up they were crease & I told her and all she could do was stand there looking dumb saying she would remember next time not to crease them. I get home & realized she ripped a pair of $40 jeans at the knee. I will never give my business to this careless company again! read more

These people are absolutely amazing. First, I was in a wedding on Saturday, July 5th this year. I waited until the last minute to get my dress hemmed (very expensive, over $300 dress) and took it in that Monday. Even with all the holiday rush and being closed on the 4th, they had my dress ready by Thursday. It was perfect! I don't remember how much I paid but I do remember it was literally half the price that I paid a different tailor to hem my dress for the previous wedding I was in. Now, this wedding was outside in the Austin hill country so it got completely ruined (or so I thought). Liquid stains everywhere on it, I dropped chicken Marsala AND salad dressing on it, and there were random sticker burrs stuck in it. I even walked through a gas station parking lot in sandals, making it that much worse since I was stepping on it. I kept it crumbled up in a tote bag for over two months in my car, as I thought it was done for. This week I bought new jeans, which needed quite a bit hemmed off. They were expensive, so I was terrified that they would be hemmed too short as has happened to me in the past at other tailors. Tran's did such a great job with my bridesmaid dress that I figured I'd go back and hope for the best. I also decided to give the dress to them in hopes they could at least make the stains less visible. Needless to say, my jean length was perfect. They reattached the bottom hem so that the stitching was the same (miss me's have very distinct stitching) as the original. And my dress.. Every single stain was removed. It looked brand new. Total price for everything was only $25! I am so impressed by this place and will ALWAYS go to them for any alterations or dry cleaning. Can't recommend enough! read more

At first glance, this tailor's shop doesn't seem to be anything special. Tucked away in the back of a lifeless shopping center, it seems like just another place to get clothes altered. However, this is the only tailor that I trust with my clothes. My family has been using Tran's Tailor for years and we love the service that we get there. The staff of friendly and willing to work with your preferences to customize your clothes for you. Their alterations are always finished within a reasonable amount of time (always less than a week in my experience), and they have accommodated rush alterations for me in the past without complaint. Their prices are comparable to those of other similar tailors. I have had anything from school uniforms to jeans to prom dresses altered here, and I will definitely keep returning for all of my alteration needs. read more

If you're a tall lanky guy, then you know how painful it is to find a dress shirt that fits properly for torso length and sleeve length, and doesn't balloon out around the waist (even with the "modern fit".label). I've had almost all of my button-down shirts fitted at Trans Tailor, after having a dry cleaner's seamstress work on two other button-down shirts which showed a poor quality of workmanship. With the dry cleaner's seamstress, the stitching did not appear neat on the inside hem and the fitment was wrong in the torso and shoulders. Trans Tailor's workmanship is neat on both the exterior and interior stitching and my previously-huge button-down shirts fit perfectly. Tailor made me go through the whole song and dance of trying it on when she knew she was backed up with prior orders. She wasn't exactly the friendliest but maybe that's just how she is. Gave her a suit and pant that I needed to alter before a med school interview. She immediately said not to alter the length of the suits arm because that's the current fashion. This was nice because someone else would've don't it and charged. She altered my pants in 3 days and it fit PERFECTLY. Charged less than 10 dollars. Won't ever be looking for another tailor shop. My review runs the gamut from Really Good Work to not so happy. I am an ex-tailor myself, so I know what to look for. The good: My daughter's homecoming dresses - they did a great job, sewed on sequins, hemmed, etc. The work was wonderful. Their hemming is good too but I can do that at home unless it's a delicate pair of slacks. Their handwork is very good... but I think sometimes the word "tailor" in their company name is a stretch. They are quick with their work too . I think their basic work is fine for most people. On the other hand: Not very happy with 75% of the items I brought in to Tran's. I took a knit top in to be shortened, and when I got it back, the part they sewed was all stretched out. I myself have tailored many clothes but it has been 30 years since, and I don't have the machines to do such things as knits. They used the wrong machine or the wrong setting to hem my blouse. I had a strapless dress I wanted straps put on. The seamstress did not measure how long the straps needed to be (I am a short person). I wondered how this dress was going to come out. I asked the seamstress if she needed to measure, she batted her eyes and assured me all was well. When I went in, the straps were, as I suspected, about 3 inches too long. They did and their sewing was good. I wish now that I had asked for elastic inside the straps, but that's my fault. They DID give to me exactly what I wanted, so it was my fault but the fact they didn't measure bothered me. I had several jackets that i wanted the sleeves shortened. They just shortened them straight across and did not account for sleeves being slightly longer on the inside than the outside. Now when you look at the sleeves with my arms down, the sleeves are shorter on the inside. Unless you are a tailor (or an ex-one, like me), it is different to understand but my sleeves are all too short on the inside but long enough on the outside of the sleeve. This also makes my sleeves feel weird when I bend my arms. I also asked them about taking up the shoulders in my denim jacket , which I KNOW needed to be done just by looking at the jacket, but they said shortening the sleeves would have been enough. But the shoulder seams were NOT in the right place and would have made the jacket look and sit better on my body and look more tailored. But they insisted. I think they just didn't want to put the time into the jacket or didn't know how. Tran's does loads of work in my area. Lots of people use them, they are the only ones around but thankfully a couple of more tailor shops have opened in the area which I will use instead. Unless I have a delicate dress to be altered, I don't think I will bring my things there anymore. Plus the lady that comes out to 'measure' is a little condescending. read more

My son was measured for alterations to his tuxedo with suit on. chalk marks on pants ($12) and jacket arms ($22). came back a week later and nothing had been done. said it would be ready next day so we picked up tux on way to sisters wedding in san antonio. still no alterations had been done! it is bad enough to pay for work that has not been done, but worse to be out of town and your 7 year-old sons clothes do not fit him. read more

Saved the day! I received my bridesmaid dress just days away from my best friend's wedding and Tran's Tailor saved the day. I brought the dress in on a Friday and it was returned on the following Wednesday. The alterations fit my body type perfectly and the dress withheld a night of great dancing. My man Tran has been altering my clothes and making them fit me perfectly for at least 15 years now! Never once have I been disappointed with the results.
