Giving four stars here, because the job that was done on my wedding dress was amazing in just one month. They altered my wedding dress, attached a comb to my veil, and one other dress for my wedding. Each item turned out fantastic, and the scheduling was very organized! They truly helped me out in a crunch and did a great job. The only part that was a bit annoying was that despite making an appointment, there would always be a bit of a wait upon getting in, up to twenty minutes. I live about an hour away so it was definitely a bit frustrating to leave early and get there on time just to wait. But at the end of the day, they did do an amazing job on the clothes, and as far as wedding dress alterations go, they were also very reasonable with pricing. They're also so very kind and also steam your dress if desired. When I left with the dress, they actually came outside and helped me put my dress into the car. I was floored by that kind of help, because they really didn't have to do that, but they did anyways. Had to take in a pair of basketball referee pants that were unfinished to be hemmed. When I got to the store, I put them on and the measurements were quickly taken. A week later, pants were ready for pick up. Took the pants home and tried them on. The hem was done perfectly and as I expected it to be. 5/5 stars because these woman are God-sends to the wedding tailor industry! I had four alteration appointments and with my hectic work schedule I had to meet them at 9pm for one of my appointments! I took my wedding dress in for alterations. They were great every step of the way. Unfortunately , my wedding got canceled just after my second fitting. But they were very kind and supportive as they worked to finish the alterations they had started so I could pick up my dress, and they told me how to go about listing it online to sell it. They made what was a horribly sad moment of picking up my dress that I'll never wear bearable. I will definitely consider them for any future alterations of non-wedding attire I need, and should I ever be fortunate enough to get married down the road, they will be the first place I will take a dress for alterations. read more

Very poor work and very rude condescending workers, literally laughing when I pointed out the highschool home economics class level of workmanship.. My daughter's wedding dress was very badly altered at great wasted expense. * Over bustled, they charge per bustle so put all they could get on - 5 for dress and 2 underslip. It was uneven so higher on one side and I knew it didn't look right but didn't know what was wrong until we took it to a real tailor. He was pretty surprised at their work and pinned it correctly with 3 bustles folded so attachment was hidden. It looked so much better. *In addition to over bustling they attached it to the back with bright white hooks sewn above the bustle on a champagne colored wedding dress. They acted like I was crazy to think it looked bad. I'm attaching a picture of large white hooks above bustle and a pin where the good, professional tailor placed it. * My 45 year old veil was to be used and first they sewed it onto a wrong comb after we specifically told them which comb. Not only are they rude but they do NOT listen. At their place I knew it didn't look right but it wasn't until I took it to a good tailor he was incredulous at what they had done. He showed me it was sewn on upside down so that when correctly placed on the bride's head, the beading and pearls on the train were on the underside. *My dress - cups poorly sewn in with one higher than the other and showing out the top of the dress. Again, the new tailor was completely surprised by how poorly the work had been done. I tried to give them every benefit of the doubt but they were so rude and openly smirking and laughing amongst themselves that I thought it was bad work They were so awful to me that I almost wondered if really this was the norm and the best to expect. The real tailor I took it to after I took these items out of their shop was really surprised at the shoddy work. Fortunately he was able to make everything look like it should. Do not take your clothes here. Their work is bad and they do not care. read more

I can't speak highly enough of Vintage Tailors. Consistently professional, kind and thorough, the sister owners of Vintage Tailors, Merlyn and Vanessa will work magic on your clothes to make them fit perfectly to your body. Along with tailoring special event and every day clothes for our entire family, they altered and tailored my 20 year old wedding dress to fit my daughter for her senior presentation. My daughter is taller than me, so it was quite the endeavor as we miraculously found a fabric to match and they were able to beautifully modernize and lengthen the dress to make it her own. I also want to note their small town kindness and customer service that is hard to find in this day and age. My family and I are always greeted by name and with smiles. During a very sad loss, I had a funeral dress that needed some alterations and the sisters not only altered it, but on their own accord, turned it around within one day to help alleviate one of my worries. I have taken a lot of clothes here to have tailored from shirts to jeans to skirts to dresses to rompers etc. Every time it is perfectly done and I am very picky! They also tailored my bridesmaids robes and even made me a tulle skirt from scratch from a picture I showed them that I wanted for my engagement photos, It was beautiful! I buy clothes and I'm like it would look good if it was like this they can definitely make it that way or this is too big but they will fix it to fit me lol. I always like to have a plan B in case something goes wrong when it comes to alterations for a dress for my daughters. When I see other reviews complaining about a alteration that didn't go as planned, I will ask questions. But when I asked if something bad or unfortunate would happen, I was told they didn't want my business. If they aren't confident in their ability to do an alteration, and to be asked simple questions makes me wonder. Keep in mind I was calm and wasn't worried about them until they were bothered by me asking if something was to happen is their anyone that they can recommend to get a dress from on a short notice. read more

They do AN amazing job, they are so professional and filled with experience. I loved how they added every detail with care. I love modest clothing therefore my dress was very modest, I did add some things in the end... the older sister that works here had the patience to help me with my (modest) situation even though it was more time consuming.Therefore I really appreciate that! I've gotten my clothes tailored here a lot over the years since it's close to my house. I've spent hundreds of dollars at Vintage Tailors over the years. From suits to shirts, pants to jeans. The high cost of service was worth it to me. However, that high cost is no longer worth it. As of late, two main things have gone down- quality and time. All the recent clothings I've gotten done by them recently has had terrible stitching, uneven seams, and threads just sticking out everywhere. Add onto the fact that none of my items seem to be ready to be picked up, even hours after it was scheduled to be ready. I can't count how many times I've arrived LATER than scheduled, and upon my arrival, they rush to get it done in the back, forcing me to wait in front for 20 minutes. Maybe that explains the quality as of late. Kind of wild to deal with this when you're paying the $$$ they are charging for their service. Time to look somewhere else where I don't have to pay an arm and a leg for a half a**ed job. read more

I recently came to this shop specifically for its proclaimed expertise in specialty fabrics. The customer service was wonderful but the result of the work is poor and looks rushed. This is the first time I've ever had anything tailored and was unsure of the quality of the work but the issues that arose spoke for themselves. The items I got altered were specifically for an out of town occasion. Upon check in at my destination and closer inspection in bright natural lighting, visually, both items were clearly unraveling, incomplete stitching, stray thread everywhere and I hadn't even worn the garments since pick up. The dress was a MAJOR issue because this was for a formal event and I was afraid much of my dress would remain at the event after I'd left seeing as it was already losing beads where it was taken in (as seen in the pic). It saddens me to have traveled as far as I did across Houston, experience such good customer service and communication on the status of my garments only to be disappointed in the tailored outcome. Unfortunately, I will not be back for repeat business and will not recommend to my personal or professional network. read more

Recommended for all types of alterations. Had my daughters wedding dress completely altered in the bodice which was delicate work as it had rhinestones and lace that had to be removed and reappled. I first started coming here because I purchased a Groupon. I was looking for an alteration place a little closer to home since I stopped working around The Woodlands area, and I used to go to a place in that area. I have gotten formal dresses altered here, and they've done such a great job. They offer same day service, but the regular turnaround service is about 3-5 days depending on how busy they are, especially during homecoming and prom season. They can be pretty pricey, for example, I got dress straps altered to make it shorter because I'm petite. It was $28 plus tax. For the quality of work they did on my maid of honor dress, J. Crew wedding/party dress, and thin material flowy pants, I'd say it was worth it. They do their best to match the seam and thread color. You would never know it was altered. It's so hard to find a good tailorist these days. The ladies are so friendly and helpful. If the phone rings, and there's a customer in the store, they do not ignore you just to answer the phone.
