I would not recommend Colletti Threads. Here are my drawbacks to Michelle. Yes, she is a great seamstress-- that's clear from her reviews BUT she has awful customer service and is very difficult to get a hold of. I got married in July of 2016 and had her re-style a family member's wedding gown for me. I had issues with rescheduling appointments and there was a general lack of professionalism there that I did not entirely appreciate but she had already started cutting into the gown (keep in mind this gown was a very expensive "something borrowed" that she was working with) so I just tried to stay positive. There was an issue with the old zipper of the gown that she noticed and did a "quick" fix for even though she initially thought that the zipper needed to be replaced. Well, the day of my wedding, the zipper did indeed break. I let her know and she apologized and promised to take care of it as long as I send the dress over. Flash forward to present day 1/27/2018--- I had called and texted over a hundred times (if anyone is interested, I have screenshots of proof) and even went to the extent of trying to contact her via social media. Regardless of many attempts to contact Michelle about her fixing my gown she repeatedly ignored me. I didn't get my wedding dress back until recently-- almost a year and half after my wedding. Yes, Michelle is a pretty good seamstress but there are great seamstress everywhere! As a bride, if you don't want to be stressed about everything going on with your dress, I'd HIGHLY recommend you go somewhere else with better customer service. Houston, Austin, and so many other cities have AMAZING seamstresses that I'd recommend you bring your business elsewhere! read more

I brought my mother's 1980s wedding dress to Michelle in October 17. I had dreamed of wearing my moms dress on my wedding day but I had been having a hard time finding someone that could see my vision of preserving the dress' original look while updating it slightly and altering it to fit my frame. I had brought it other places and everyone I talked to just wanted to cut the dress up and leave me with a simple dress that very slightly resembled the original. This was heartbreaking for me. But when I brought my dress to Michelle her excitement and passion said it all. She listened to exactly what I wanted and worked tirelessly to make every part of the dress exactly what I wanted. She spent countless hours and many appointments working to place each peice of the puzzle in just the right place. She even met us at fabric stores to work with us to find just the right fabrics. She also made sure we never overbought as fabrics can be very expensive, especially lace. When it was all said and done the final product was beautiful. The dress was restored to it's original glory and my dream of wearing my moms dress on my wedding day was brought to life. Michelle was such an angel to work with and charged us a more than reasonable price for the hours of design and hand sewing that went into this dress. She gave us a flat rate and never once added on extra fees when challenges and changes came up throughout the process. I would recommend her to anyone needing dress alterations. Especially if you are making big changes to a dress. read more

Michelle was awesome! The whole process was so fun. She has a great personality, very easy to work with, very creative, and she is extremely reasonable! What more could you want?! BRIDES...listen up... if you have done your due diligence to research to whom you are entrusting your gown, trust them when you get there! Because I had researched Michelle, I knew I was in good hands. There were some changes I wanted to my sleeves and we really couldn't see it accurately unless she started cutting. Let me cut! Don't be afraid! You can't make an omelet until you break a few eggs and you can't make gorgeous changes to your dress unless you are willing to try some different things! My dress came with a beautiful beaded belt and I just couldn't figure out what if I wanted to use it. I loved the sparkle it added, but didn't like how it cut my figure up. (I'm short and curvy) After a couple of questions, Michelle picked up some scissors and started clipping the beaded portion off of the belt. I started to say something but didn't. I trusted where she was going. I'm so glad I did! She took it and placed it on the bust line of my dress as a jeweled detail and it's perfect there! She took it apart and stitched it on perfectly! It looks divine and I'm so excited to wear my dress! She is really great and so much fun. I HIGHLY recommend her! She also makes appointments after hours, which is nice, because I come from downtown Houston. Definitely give her a call!!! read more

I am forever grateful for Michelle at Colletti Threads! I just got back from a wedding I was part of in upstate NY. Before I left TX for NY I needed my dress altered because I had the wrong size ordered for me. I didn't find out until the dress was delivered to my apartment in Houston, Texas just 2 weeks before the wedding. After going to two other seamstresses who told me the dress was impossible to fix without changing the design of it, I found Michelle through a recommendation. Michelle was able to fix my dress by decreasing it by at least 4 dress sizes. She worked with my budget and my deadline which were both equally tight and produced a beautiful outcome with only two fittings. The dress was a perfect fit and looked identical to the other girl's who all had their dresses done by another seamstress in NY; the only difference being- those girls needed minor changes and I practically needed a whole new dress made! The before and after pictures I took are like day and night. I don't normally take the time to write a review but I felt this one was absolutely necessary and well deserved. Thank you so much Michelle and I want you to know I will be back again in the near future. I was in a desperate situation. A week before my husband's formal military ball I still had no dress due to fighting off a severe illness, very insecure having been born with severe scoliosis, and desperately wanting to look as beautiful as all the other military wives. I showed up to meet with Michelle, still no dress in hand, and she immediately reassured me she could make this work. Three days before the ball I returned to her shop, having picked out a dress off the rack at a local bridal boutique. She took my measurements, discussed making a few adjustments, and again reassured me everything would be ok, she was going to make this happen and I would look beautiful. The day of the military ball I returned to try the dress on, terrified it wouldn't fit due to my odd body shape. Not only did it fit perfectly, her alterations were exactly to my tastes, it looked absolutely gorgeous on me and she made an additional barrette for my hair with the leftover material. I was amazed! I have never felt so beautiful or confident in a dress in my entire life and I have her to thank for the entire experience. I will definitely be returning to her for any and all my alteration needs, although next time not so last minute! I still can't believe she pulled off such a miracle. Michelle was awesome from the beginning. I randomly came in with my mother's vintage, handmade wedding dress and wanted to remake it into something that would fit me, and my style. I had already called and gone in to a few places and was either quoted a ridiculous price, or told that I should just buy a new dress. This, however, was not the case at Colletti Threads. Michelle would not even touch the dress until she got a feel of my style and what i was going for. We ended up talking on the floor, with the dress between us for about 45 minutes. After talking with her, Michelle completely saw my vision and immediately went to work. We refashioned the top of the dress and ended up having to create a whole new skirt due to a height difference in my mom and I. Michelle took all the lace from my mom's dress and attached it to the new skirt. In short, it was absolutely perfect. I had a custom wedding dress of my dreams that also meant so much to me and my family. She worked with me every step of the way and I could not have picked a better store to randomly stroll in to. PS she also does amazing alterations, as I took in my bridesmaid dress for another wedding I was in and she had it done pronto, and perfect. read more

I am a fan of Michelle's work! She did an amazing job on the alterations of my custom designed Winnie Couture wedding gown!! I wanted my 100% natural silk boned bodice to fit my curves like a glove. And my very long fully tulle train to be perfectly bustled. She DELIVERED and surpassed my expectations!! I felt like Michelle genuinely cared about my vision and the way I wanted to look on my big day! She is not money hungry and will work with any budget... unlike some bridal alteration shops. Her warmth and kindness throughout the time leading up to my wedding was absolutely priceless. Her and her sister went above and beyond to also help me customize my hair piece AND my shoes!!! She was there on my wedding day to get me into my dress and steam out any kinks that may have been in my bridesmaids dresses. If there was a need (and I mean ANY need)... Michelle was great! Marissa's friend recommended her because Michelle worked on her dress. I can say we were a bit cautious because of the one review but I figured you cannot make everyone happy, their always has to be one. My daughter wanted a her dress to be strapless and a corset verses the zipper. The dress fit her like a glove and the work was beautiful. Not only did Michelle do a wonderful job on her dress but my dress did not come in until the last minute and needed alterations the day before the wedding. Michelle came to my home with her needle thread and machine. She hemmed my dress and made the top fit better. She went over and beyond for both my daughter and I. Colletti Threads, Michelle the owner, is awesome and I will be recommending her to everyone I know! She recently altered my daughters wedding dress and did an AMAZING job. Michelle also did my dress, one of the bridesmaids dresses and a dress for my daughters future MIL. We are all happy with the results. Her skills are truly great but what you can't find just anywhere...is kindness and understanding. My schedule is very tight, she always accommodated me and even opened on a "closed" day just so I could squeeze a fitting in. Always happy to see us, never rushed, never got frustrated no matter how many tweaks we made to the dress! Again. She is the best. I will forever love Michelle, she calmed my panicked heart. I hadn't really tried on my dress since I bought it until a week before the wedding (yes I know, I know) of course it didn't fit like it was supposed to. I panicked, I was literally getting married that weekend and I didn't know what to do. I happened to locate her and she was nearby, I brought my dress to her to put a corset back into the dress so that it would fit. Not only did she get the corset back put in, in like a day, she also steamed and cleaned my dress before she gave it back to me, literally the day before the wedding and it fit perfect! I was so happy, I cried! I would recommend her to anyone. She is extremely sweet and friendly and she will get what you need done, done. read more

I brought my elaborate wedding gown to Michelle to take in at least 3 sizes and to shorten the length and add bust cups and she did an amazing job all within about a one month timeframe. I also brought it my veil and she and her assistant were able to use the extra lace that came off the length of my gown to line the edge of my veil to make a stunning custom look. I also brought in a gown for a Christmas party last minute and she was able to take it in and reconfigure the length of the straps and the dip of the sweetheart neckline to better suit my body. Michelle is a visionary, knows how to flatter your figure and does excellent work in an efficient manor and for a reasonable price, plus she's just a wonderful person to work with! read more

I could not have asked for anyone better to do the alterations on my wedding dress! Michelle is FABULOUS and she did a beautiful job making my dress fit perfectly. Not only did she make my dress beautiful before the wedding, she came to my wedding and helped dress my bridesmaids and myself (she also helped with decorating, set up, pictures, and whatever else I needed). She was a joy to work with! It rained on my big day and the wedding was outdoors. I thought I had ruined it by dragging it through the mud, but Michelle took it home with her and cleaned it so it looks new again! Michelle beautifully altered my mom's 80's wedding dress to perfectly fit my body! Naturally, the sleeves were as big and poofy as 80's sleeves go. The dress also had a high neckline that I wanted updated. Michelle cut the dress down to my size and made the desired alterations! She was very creative with the sleeves. Additionally, she cleaned the dress of any rust or dirt marks and made it look white again! A side note, the buttons in the back liked to come unbuttoned but that is associated with the original design of the dress, not associated with Michelle's work. I really don't understand what the other two review ladies are talking about. Michelle was wonderful, professional, timely, and did a great job on my wedding dress. It was an alteration job. I had my dress finished a few months in advance, tried my dress on a week before my wedding day, and found that I had changed sizes and it didn't fit anymore! I called her and she literally had me come to her own house, last second, to alter my dress again for me before my wedding day. It was beautiful and fit perfectly. She was also priced much more affordably than other alteration ladies in the area. I was really happy with her work. read more

I contacted Michelle last year after the lady who was originally supposed to be making my dress stiffed me. When I called her she immediately calmed me down and assured me that everything would be fine and my dress world be ready on time. Mind you she only had 4 weeks to create a very intricate design. Michelle is a lifesaver when it comes to your dress. She is the one who "made" my dress... MY dress. I was freaking out that I was not going to be able to get my dress properly altered before my wedding and a friend referred me to Colletti Threads. Michelle got me in and had my dress done in no time. My dress had a plunging top that I did not like and with her skills, she beautifully camouflaged it. Love, love, love her!
