USED CAR BUYER BEWARE! My experience with Classic BMW was ultimately frustrating and disappointing, especially given the high standards and quality that BMW sets for themselves. I reached out regarding a used X5 that had just been listed. I was connected with Shaun Dubecky, who explained the vehicle had only been taken in on trade the night before and had not yet completed the inspection process. From the outset, Shaun was responsive and helpful. Providing videos of the exterior and interior, along with additional requests. I made it clear that I would be making a 3 hour trip to see the car and that I was a serious interested buyer. I specifically asked for an undercarriage video which I received one from the technician noting a check engine light that was being addressed due to the emissions. I was told there were no leaks or other concerns, and that the undercarriage condition was typical for a vehicle from the region. By Friday evening, I was told the necessary part would arrive and the problem would likely be resolved by midday Saturday. Based on that communication, I committed to making the drive with intention to purchase the vehicle. I was brought directly into the service bay to view the vehicle while it was finishing inspection after asking if I could see the vehicle up in the air. Once the car was lifted, I instantly notice fresh oil coming from the rear differential. A quick swipe coated my finger, and the technician immediately identified it as a rear differential pinion seal leak and would need to be repaired. This was clearly not something that had just developed in that moment and Shaun right there and knew it was on the top of my concern list and would notify his boss. We proceeded with a test drive, and I reiterated my concerns. However, when it came time to discuss the deal, the tone switched and the issue was reframed as a "seep," and I was told it would not be repaired because it did not trigger a warning light. To me a seep and a leak not much different. My offer was dismissed without being taken to management. When I asked if they could at least verify fluid levels or inspect for metal shavings so I could feel comfortable driving the vehicle home, I was told, "If it's leaking, it means there is fluid in there." That statement alone was enough to raise serious concerns about the standard of the dealership. There was also a noticeable shift in tone throughout the visit. At one point it was mentioned that the dealership did not need to sell the vehicle and could simply send it to auction, despite the fact that I had already traveled a significant distance based on prior assurances. I was also told that this type of issue is common for the model year, which did little to justify leaving it unaddressed. Troy, the used car sales manager, came out to speak with me. He was professional, listened carefully, and appeared to understand the situation from a customer's perspective. He made an effort to recover the absolute fumble of a sale Shuan lost, but by that point the combination of time lost, travel, and the handling of a clear mechanical issue had already undermined any confidence in moving forward. The vehicle sold itself. What ultimately ended the deal was not the existence of a problem confirmed by both parties, but the unwillingness to address it and the dismissive approach taken when it was brought to light. For a dealership representing a premium brand, I expected a higher level of accountability, transparency, and pride in the brand they wear on their chest. Based on this experience, I would advise others to approach with caution, particularly when considering a used vehicle and relying on the dealership's assessment of its condition. Troy followed up once. But once they washed their hands from the interested car, my experience and concern vanished with that sale as well. I'll leave with this, would you want your loved one to buy a car from a place that dismisses a mechanical "seep" and tells them its common and not a concern since there is no light on the dash? read more

BMW owner here. Tried to order BMW OEM Cargo mat from their parts department and they decided to cancel my order without any notice when I was specifically waiting for them. I ordered a rear cargo mat and the shipping was $34. They said that they did not charge me enough and just canceled it and did not bother to call me or ask me if I would like to re-order or pay the difference. This is not what a BMW dealership should represent or a BMW parts department should show as customer service. Brought my car for a service, asked for 4 new tires, mentioned I will powder coat my rims and the guy said THEY could do it THERE. They actually ended up shipping my wheels to a third party god knows where and I was without my car for 23 days. They were just a middle man here taking a cut from the work done. Shameless! I also said when I dropped of my car that my parking assistance is not working, and SPECIFICALLY asked for a quote to change my front sensors BECAUSE I HAD ALREADY KNOWN that's what I needed to change. They ended up charging me $420 for opening my bumper and additional $210 to diagnose the problem AFTER I ONLY ASKED FOR A QOUTE TO CHANGE MY FRONT SENSORS! I am livid. I called and texted numerous times while they had my car and had to beg to have anyone answer my calls/text and let me know what the hell is taking so long. ZERO communication! My initial sales rep was great but the managers gets an F. Shaun was smooth in his presentation, and I would have brought the Jeep that was on sale. But I had my mechanic check it out 1st. (always have a mechanic checking out before signing). The ball joints were completely rusted and they refused to change them. Brought my '24 M2 in for break-in service with 900miles and my steering wheel being slightly off center (there have been reported issues in some forums of the same problem) Service advisor said he could perform an alignment (for a charge). He said that since I drove the car, it's not covered. I said it has 900 miles and I had to drive the car to discover it. Completely disappointed. If you can avoid this dealership, I'd advise you to use Westlake BMW. Looked over BMWs own NEW CAR WARRANTY COVERAGE. Page 5 states clearly, "wheel alignment" is covered for 2000 miles. The SA wouldn't acknowledge the document. When pressed, the SA said, "I don't see the steering wheel not being straight...AS A DEFECT." I knew at this point all was lost. Filed a complaint with BMW Customer Relations. Two case managers reached out to me and said they've advised the Service Manager to get in contact. This has not happened. I am not looking for good will, a favor, a solid, nothing other than them honoring their responsibility in my ownership of my brand new BMW. What is stated in their own warranty coverage guide. 2024 BMW NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY Page 5 Other Items "Wheel alignment, balancing and wiper blade inserts are cov- ered up to the first 2,000 miles on the vehicle." I bought a used X5 diesel three years ago and have spent around $5k at Classic to keep it running. Last month I was driving through Tennessee and pulled into an old gas station to refuel. When I went to insert the diesel nozzle it wouldn't go in. There was a metal plate blocking access and I didn't recall ever seeing it before. Limping home by using funnels I booked a service appointment. I had no way to refuel. A week later I showed for my appointment and the service advisor met me in the service lane, where I showed him the metal plate. Neither of us realized that printed on the fuel door were the words "Restrictor plate installed." They gave me a loaner and the next day the advisor told me both he and the tech were baffled and recommended replacing the fill tube, draining the fuel tank and replacing the gas cap for $850. I declined. I went home and in 10 minutes of Googling I found a 2009 press release from BMW stating that from 2009 forward all diesels would be equipped with a metal restrictor plate that would prevent a gas hose nozzle from inadvertently being inserted into a diesel tank. Evidently, in Europe all gasoline nozzles are 21 mm and diesels are 24mm. This is not the law in the US and I had managed to find two gas stations in a row that had non-standard 21mm nozzles. No refueling was possible. Okay, that's a pretty obscure fact. Diesel motors are rare and mistakes can be made. What I can't accept is that they didn't even try. The advisor didn't know and the tech didn't know. How about the shop foreman, service manager or BMW Tech Support all not knowing? The answer is obvious- it was easier to charge me $850 than to spend 10 Googling. A unconscionable lack of effort. read more

No reason this dealership should be charging two hours of labor for something that takes 2 minutes and requires zero tools to do. That is robbery and dishonest. If I could give zero stars I would. This dealership is full of false information communication and will do anything to make a dollar off a customer. I went in to get pricing a new vehicle and told me it would be $10k down and still over $700/month for 3 years for a new 3 series and did not take me seriously given my age until I showed them proof of income and then the conversation changed and I still got up an left anyway due to the rudeness of the salesman and the finance manager. I even asked about their year-end deals on their website and he said they don't have any deals and was purposely searching BMW USA rather than his own dealership site and tried to hide it. I called him out and showed him his own dealer website and he said they cannot honor that deal due to "low inventory". I asked why are you advertising this then on YOUR website and he just looked at me and said we shouldn't be. Thus, I walked out and went to BMW of Cleveland and got a great deal on even building my own 3 series with incentives since I already owned a BMW, had just graduated with MBA and got a credit, and got dealer credits for walking in the door with more than half the down payment Classic told me and the payment was $400 less per month than Classic quoted me. Not only that, I then scheduled a yearly oil change at classic since it was closer to my home than Cleveland BMW and they told me I needed 2 new tires, an alignment, and rotation and the car was only 9 months old and he had an attitude about it. I just laughed and said no way. I have owned 5 new vehicles and never once needed new tires for any of those vehicles during the time I had them in leases. They were not easy to work with at all!!! I was on the phone for 25 mins going from department to department to see if my car was ready after 5 hours for just an oil change and told me my service rep was unavailable and he would "call me back". I showed up anyway and was greeted with "We tried to call you and told you needed new tires but clearly we cannot do that today now since you didn't answer" and proved to them they did not even though they had my phone number. Then he said "well I'm not a fly on the wall on how you drive" Would NEVER recommend this dealership for anything. Waste of real estate to do shady business in the Cleveland area. BMW of Cleveland is SOOOO much better at both customer service and pricing. read more

I worked with Tom Prokop in the internet sales department @ Classic BMW and he was outstanding. I have helped my family purchase numerous vehicles of different makes - BMW, Audi, Lexus, Honda, Toyota - and this was the smoothest, most pleasurable transaction to date. I actually live in NJ and was only making a regular visit to Cleveland, but I liked Tom so much I chose to work with him over my local dealer and drive the car all the way back to Jersey! I saw that Classic had by far the best Yelp review score of any dealer I could find in my home or Cleveland area, so I submitted an inquiry on their website. The next day Tom sent me a clear, courteous email with the details on the car he had in stock, and attached the build sheet off the bat. DEALERS, THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT. It can feel like pulling teeth getting anything useful out of a typical salesperson - they are always trying to get you to give them a call and come in without even answering your initial questions. I wrote Tom back explaining that I was out of town and wouldn't be able to come in until the following weekend. He was very understanding and never applied any pressure. Fast forward a week, and my wife and I met with Tom to go for a test drive. He had the cars I was interested in - an 2020 X2 and 2019 X3 - pulled up and ready to go. He answered all my questions on the test drive and highlighted some of the differences in equipment levels between the model years that are easy to miss (I was also considering a similar 2019 X2 in NJ). He's easily the most knowledgable salesperson I've worked with (I believe he's also a "BMW Genius"), was extremely relaxed about everything and mostly just let my wife and me enjoy the cars. When it came down to numbers he and the sales manager Nick got me all the info I needed quickly and without fuss, and didn't press when we said we needed to step out to grab lunch and discuss. Over the next couple hours we completed the deal over email, and I returned same day to take delivery. The entire staff was great and other than a brief wait for the finance associate to finish another transaction and sort out my out-of-state lease, I was out of there with a brand new car in record time.
