Okay, just got back from stopping here for brunch at 9 mile garden. Like about 1/2 of the food trucks, the menu is in chalk, so I think it's rotating. What I got was the Texas BBQ breakfast burrito and man, was it massive. I mean, yeah, a lot of breakfast burritos are massive, but there were brisket, eggs, and potatoes in there, so I couldn't quite finish it. And also as you can tell from those fillings, this was quite a bit different from any other breakfast burritos I've had. The experience is what you'd expect from a food truck: good food, friendly staff. More expensive than you'd get from a fast food place, but way better. Will definitely return, but I think next time, I'm either sharing or getting something smaller! read more

Quaint cafe in old train station with delicious food and drinks. Arrived late morning on a Saturday and they were very busy. Ordered at counter and got a number for food delivery. This is such a cute spot! I stopped by here for a quick brunch. So Clara B's kitchen is actually inside of a coffee shop. It's a nice big open space, lots of seating and there's a cute lounge area with couches great for studying or relaxing with a nice book. The menu offers salads, sandwiches and some nice brunch entrees. I ordered the biscuits with duck fat gravy. It was delicious and very fulfilling, it came with a fried off on top. Went with a friend for food and coffee about 10:30. Clara B's is co-located with Long Story Coffee in an old railroad station-both are self-service ordering but Clara B's does bring food to your table. You can sit at a table or there is a lounge-type area. I got the vegan burrito-it was good except needed some heat. I got a tiny cup of salsa that had no heat-typical heartland gringo I guess. My friend got a sandwich which she said was very good. We both got drinks from Long Story. Mine was a cold chai latte which was good and my friend got hot tea which was fine. Place was about half full with breakfast people when we arrived but full by noon. Ladies room was huge (obviously housed something else in the old days) and very clean. Placed order online at 8:00am for an 8:45am pick up. When I arrived I was told the grits "were not ready yet" and it "may take another 15 minutes for them to be ready". So by the time the grits are ready my other items that were already bagged and ready including eggs over easy will be cold, no phone call to me stating this. I asked if rosemary potatoes could be substituted and again was told that would be another 15 minutes. No offer to make things right other than refund the cost of the grits. I have travelled the world and this is one of my favourites. Clara B is the best breakfast/brunch in the greater St. Louis area and I argue is on par to Millie's in Richmond. What a gem of a place now that they are in a brick-and-mortar. Wonderful, thoughtful, and amazingly plated food (especially for a somewhat fast-casual style restaurant). The menu feels very coherent, and rotates enough to show the restaurant's quality and creativity. We went on a Saturday morning and the place was quite busy, yet we had our food within 15 minutes of ordering. Salmon tartine was a nice lighter complement to the delightful buttery-sweet goodness of my sausage biscuit. Others at my table got the cowboy breakfast, which was picturesque, but unpretentiously so! Brisket, beans, fried sweet potatoes, cornbread, and eggs - much variety showed on the plate, and yet each piece was delicious - I'll call out the jalapeño cornbread, since I got a bite of that - it's a true treat, but the rest of that dish also got rave reviews from others at my table. We're lucky to have such a great choice in Belleville. The pairing with Long Story is also notable - being able to have top-notch breakfast/lunch at Clara B's and then great coffee makes for a very satisfying experience. read more

Tucked in along the storefronts of East Main, this cute little restaurant has been on my "must try list" for awhile. They are only open Fri-Sunday, so it makes it difficult to just pop in. Four of us came on Fathers Day around 10:30am. My husband and I each had the stuffed French toast with cherry compote, my sister ordered the breakfast tacos with a side of Mac n cheese, and my dad had a biscuit sandwich and a side of grits. The stuffed French toast was very good. My sister said the tacos were good but nothing to rave about. Mac n cheese had a gritty texture to the cheese. I noticed my dad had to use a lot of salt and pepper on his grits - he seemed to think they didn't use any seasonings while cooking. The biscuit was good but not as flaky as he would like or expected. Overall, the place is charming. The staff is friendly (one girl was brand new but was trying hard to her job). But I don't know that I will be rushing back to eat there again. That being said, I'll keep looking at their daily menu when I stroll by and see if there isn't something I wouldn't be willing to give another try. read more

The place is a little confusing, since it's actually two businesses in the same space. You order your food at the Clara B's counter but get your coffee at the Long Story Coffee counter. The coffee is good and rich, reminiscent of Starbuck's, as a point of reference. I would prefer to sit down and be waited on, but I guess the way the place is designed precludes that. I will add that if one is inclined only to have a coffee and a pastry, the Long Story has croissants, scones, and a few other selections. I wanted to get the quiche of the day, but the attendant at the counter told me it was a polish sausage quiche, which, I'm sorry, sounded horrible to me. Maybe something acceptable in German-oriented southern Illinois? Anyway, I opted for the chicken biscuit, and Mrs. P got bacon and eggs. The chicken biscuit was very good, a generous portion of crispy fried chicken breast on a fresh biscuit, doused in honey and something peppery enough to tingle one's tongue. Mrs. P's bacon and eggs were good, the bacon thick cut and very tasty. We will return. I only hope next time the quiche of the day is something a normal person would want to eat. read more

I had been wanting to try this place / the food truck for over a year but had just never made it in. I can't believe I waited so long!! The food is absolutely amazing. Hands down this is best biscuit I've ever had. The sweetness of the jam plus the saltiness of the bacon and the buttery biscuit that melts in your mouth was just a perfect combination. The cinnamon roll was gigantic and had great texture and flavor. The cream cheese frosting/sauce was to die for. The fries were crunchy but still soft and had great flavor. Very good, savory - with guacamole, (moist) chorizo [you don't want it dry], bacon, potatoes, etc. Really satisfying. Th daughter got the biscuits n gravy. I am a huge Clara B's fan since they were at their first non wheeled location. Used to go get breakfast on the weekends I worked with coworkers. Was bummed when the location closed but happy with the new opening. Food is always amazing, and fresh. Employees are always smiling and friendly. They are pretty good at recognizing the regulars and the not quite as regulars and interacting. I go here at least once a month for breakfast (I don't eat out for breakfast often), but recommend it to everyone several times a month! read more
