My food was not very well seasoned but spicy basically lacking flavor, only could feel the "heat". Hubby said his was good. Came here with a group and while the service was good and everyone was friendly, I thought the tacos were in a flavorful as others comparatively that I've had before. I got the Beria tacos and they seemed a little lackluster in flavor. They also fell apart very quickly. The tacos are made with corn tortillas. And while I understand that birria tacos typically come with consome, others in my group also got different tacos and they quickly fell apart too. Tried out this brand new spot in Ofallon. Parking was kinda tight for a good sized restaurant but still easy to find and park. Service was prompt upon walking in and getting seated, very very nice staff! Menu had a lot of options, prices also reasonable. I definitely need to come back and try their margaritas. We've been here several times and always have a great experience. The staff are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to help or make substitutions. The place is clean, the bathrooms are clean, and the patio is AWESOME in the warmer months. The food is delicious AND they have lots of options. They even have a couple veggie or rice bowl creations in case you're the only one in the group not craving Mexican on that particular occasion. (Ask me how I know! Ha!) We waited over 45 minutes for food to arrive. Kids drinks come with the meal as a juice box, no where does it state it can not be a fountain drink. Then they charge you extra for the fountain drink. The child's burger you are charged $1.25 extra to add a sprinkle of cheese to, and does not come with a side. We had to pay another Then 3 of the meals cMe out while we waited another 15 minutes for the other 2 meals. Food was ok. The Margherita Rice Bowl. Came out luke warm. I have given Tio's a chance 3 times, all 3 times horrible service! The first 2 times food was OK at best, don't like that they charge for chips and salsa. On the third and final visit, it took several minutes for a host to greet us as the employees were all just standing further back just talking and laughing while looking at us when we stood there. After finally getting seated, we sat for 15 minutes for us to just leave due to never getting a server! As we walked out, the same hostess that seated us said have a nice day, as we replied we were leaving because we got no service! No apology, or anything as we walked out! With a chimichanga. ( you can get it bottled too) Kids had smoothies, which they both enjoyed. The service was a little lacking , but our server herself was nice. They weren't even that slammed. They have a nice set up where if it's nice they open ip the garage doors but the bar. They could add some out door seating or hangout with table tops and heat lamps for when it cools down. Tios works. But I feel like it could work better. The space is beautiful. Brand new and shiny clean. So the first impression is very positive. I ordered the chipotle burrito. But first I ordered chips and salsa for two dollars and I have to admit, that really bothers me. I can go to any of their competition and get endless chips and salsa for free. Why would I come to Tios and fork over another two dollars? I'm pretty sure the price of eating out has gone up enough over the last two years without paying for things that are usually comped. Having said that, the chipotle burrito was excellent. It came with rice, but no beans. Not a problem. I'm sure I'll be back but certainly not as often as I would like to be. The burrito was $12.99 which I felt was fair. But it became 14.99 with chips. If you're OK with that, then you can make my four star rating a five star rating. read more

We had some time to kill between games. We were in a softball tournament nearby and had a party of 20 (kids & parents). My experience as of late, when you walk into a restaurant unannounced with a large party, you're treated like you're a hindrance more than a valued customer, but not here. The greeter went right to work organizing tables to accommodate our large party. The waiter took our orders promptly and the food was served hot and on time. I can't remember what it was called, but I had chicken over a bed of rice, smothered in a habanero pineapple sauce. It was delicious! This was GOOD, but some issues kept it from the GREAT rating. My Tacos de Birria were DELICIOUS, but as mentioned in other reviews, not a lot of food for the money. They seem to have put a LOT of money into the decor of this place, and maybe that's why they charge more for the food, but I'd rather NOT have to pay all that much, and have the place a bit simpler. The service was attentive, but our server struggled with the English language, making questions difficult. One thing people may not like is that they don't give free chips and salsa. I LOVE that! More authentic as far as I'm concerned. And I'd rather fill up on an entree! After moving here from California, we were searching for a Mexican food spot that could compare to the food that we love. This is the spot. The food selection is amazing. We have enjoyed a bunch of different dishes and have not been disappointed. It is so close to home! Their margarita selection is awesome. Their alcohol selection in general is great. They are always busy (which is a good thing). Lunch or dinner, the service is always good. Food comes out pretty quick regardless of how many people are there. This is a must try spot! The only thing that we mildly get annoyed with is the charging for chips and salsa. If you want extra salsa, it will cost. We don't mind paying for it and it doesn't break the bank....just not something we are used to. That is all. It does not stop us from coming in here at all! We were in a hurry so I didn't look at the menu and just told the dude chicken and rice with the normal salad side of whatever comes with it - pico de gallo or tomato or guac and he said ok ok. I've never seen so much up charging in my life. He literally charged me for a $16 chicken meal and then tomatoes for 1.95 and pico de gallo for 1.95 and avocado for whatever the price was for every extra thing I said. I was even charged for cheese I asked to NOT be put on there. A GOOD SERVER would see what's on the menu like that and make a few adjustments so I'm not charged for every little thing. Our meal of chicken and rice with a few veggies and my son's meal ended up being $40. All this to say, the burger is fire. The food I've had was delicious. The service was good enough, just be aware of the up charges for everything. Ambiance is more sports bar than anything. Low lit, which I like. I'll prob end up back here because it's close to our home but best believe I will be sure of what I say to the server and verify we are understanding each other. Was excited to come here after practice with some dance friends, as I've been eyeing for quite a while. It didn't disappoint! Most of our party got margaritas, which they seemed to really enjoy. It wasn't a good idea for me to partake, so I had a lime agua fresca instead. It was huge! And very tasty. I didn't have anything else, but what I really liked about the place was its ambiance. You wouldn't be able to tell from the humble outside, but it has a nice, comfortable dining room with colorful art throughout. And, they have a trendy indoor/outdoor bar area in the back with those metal garage-like restaurant doors. Went here Saturday night for dinner. Had heard it was great - well unfortunately for us it was not. I was shocked to see that we had to pay for chips and salsa. About 40 minutes after ordering our food - the waiter came back saying the kitchen is not keeping up with the orders and apologized, about 10 minutes later he comes back and asked us what we ordered so he can make sure it gets to the top of the list. (Why didn't he know what we had ordered???). After approximately 20 minutes later we received our food. For $12.00 a plate I expected more. Taco's were the size of street taco's not regular taco size we have had at other Mexican restaurants. No rice or beans for my meal (which I knew and they had some kind of corn on a stick - it was cold and disgusting). Husband did got rice - appears about 2 tablespoons in a small bowl. We had asked for the sauce not to be put on his tacos - it was on them. When we received the food from the runner we asked for a couple of limes - never received them. We did receive a few apologies from the waiter, but no compensation, no manager came over, nothing. It wasn't like they were busy when we got there - appears they are very disorganized. My taco's were tasty, but not enough to go back. Needless to say we won't be going back. read more

It was basically just chicken fajita with barely any pineapple. I thought the pineapple would be bigger, but they were tiny and not very plentiful. So the queso tasted good, but wasn't very warm and had a big unmelted chunk floating in the middle. My friend ordered tacos that weren't supposed to have cheese that they put a rectangular prism of cheese on. I love cheese, but I would need shredded cheese. The giant chunk of cheese honestly freaks me out. They also don't offer pitcher's of margaritas which is a bummer. The restaurant is nice. We sat in the bar area which has the ability to open up to the outside in warmer weather. I don't think I'll be back, but the people were so kind. We pulled in, my husband went in and picked up the food, and we were on our way home to eat. It smelled so good! We finally got home and got the food out, which looked as good as it smelled. We both ordered the steak street tacos with rice, and after the first bite, I was so happy. It comes with spicy salsa on top which I loved. The rice was even really good. I also ordered chips and salsa and they gave us a lot. The only thing we regretted was not ordering more food because we wanted more!!!
