I took my little cousin here while she was visiting and she loved the openness of the restaurant, and the atmosphere. We went on a rainy Saturday night around 6pm and were seated in a booth within 5 minutes. We both had margaritas, with our chips and salsa, and each ordered fajitas. Ive had enchiladas rancheras many many times. Was curious when the menu said "beef," and it turns out it was hamburger. Not good at all.

When taking all three factors of food, service, and ambiance into consideration, I would say I had a very average experience here. The restaurant itself used to be a sand volleyball club, so I'm glad to see the bar and restaurant space in use again. The interior of the restaurant is very nice, clean, and welcoming. You can definitely tell that everything was recently remodeled. Employees were efficient, but our server in particular was not very attentive. We didn't receive any water or chip refills. He seemed to disappear frequently compared to other servers that we observed around us. The chips and salsa were pretty good. I ordered a burrito with pineapple and chicken. However, there were only two small chunks of pineapple, a little bit of rice, and mostly chicken. While I know some people would enjoy all the meat, I personally would've rather had a more balanced amount of ingredients. There were also random pieces of pork carnitas, which I found a little strange considering it wasn't included in the menu description. The burrito also comes coated in a cheese sauce, but I requested my burrito without it. Unfortunately, my burrito came out coated in the cheese sauce, and as I mentioned, our server wasn't around much to notify of this. Because of the cheese sauce coating, the tortilla was extremely wet and soggy. I think I would've liked it better if my order had been prepared as I had requested. My family members enjoyed their meals, so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing! I was really hoping to like this place better, but I'd consider giving this place another try. read more

When we pulled up to dine in, both of the two handicapped spaces were occupied by vehicles waiting for take out orders. Since the handicapped parking only signs are not a deterrent, perhaps designating spaces for pick up orders would help. If you love margaritas and amazing food this is the place for you! I've been to their other restaurant at Carlyle so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed! It's nice to have one closer to home. We tried the Choripollo at both restaurants and it's consistently flavorful and perfect in every way. Tonight I tried Pollo Playa and now I'm going to have a hard time choosing between the two! I feel like our favorite Mexican place had gone downhill but nope we have a new place to frequent. And the margaritas.... There's a reason why they call it a monster size... I went with a golden margarita. They don't skimp on the alcohol... I had to give up halfway through and share the rest. I tasted the raspberry one and it was unbelievable. I haven't been in this building inyears but the upgrades they gave made are great. It's so much brighter and cheerful inside. Everyone we met working was so friendly! our first and last visit to this place! we spefically asked if we would be charged if we ordered more chips and salsa. the waiter told us, "no, i take care of you". great. we ordered our drinks, he brought our drinks, within like a minute he brought us another chips and salsa, we didn't even ask for more, but ok. we finish eating and get our bill. there is a $2.50 charge for the chips and salsa. what? we asked our waiter, why the charge when you said there wouldn't be, his response, "my mom owns/runs the place, i have to charge you". be careful what they tell you! and the food, really wasn't that good, at all! we definitely won't be back! read more

I can only offer my honest opinion and a few pictures. We stopped for a quick lunch and ended up having an amazing experience. We started with a lime margarita....perfect. We then had a super chunky guacamole. In my opinion, the chunkier the better. You get to relish every vegetable. My husband had a Burrito Monte Rey - steak version. With rice and beans that were about as authentic as I've ever had. I had the Chile Relleños. Don't know the cheeses used but I can say they were extremely creamy and delicious. We went here at about noon on a Sunday. There were very few people in the restaurant, which was a shame, because it was clean and seemed nice, the staff was kind and attentive, the food was good, the chips and salsa were good, there was Mexican league soccer on the tv, etc. We had the nachos texanos, ground beef chimi, 3 kids meals, and a monster margarita. Service is excellent! The restaurant is clean and food was served very quickly. They have a very extensive menu with so many choices. I tried their Burrito Grande with chicken and it was very good. Barely average. Only seasoning on anything was salt. Arrachera was tough as leather and beans/rice sides were crusted on the plate. My order was wrong and instead of soft corn chicken tacos, I was brought crunchy shells and they were pretty much fast food quality tacos. Horchata was clearly from a mix and overly watered down. One of the drinks had a chunk of dried cilantro floating in it. Service was acceptable. We visited on a cold night and although there was a space heater in the dining area, the restaurant was absolutely freezing and we ate with our coats on. Not worth a return visit. read more

Very rushed service not the friendliest. Ordered the chimichangas and they came out in less then 5 minutes because they use canned food and cheap ingredients. A good way to start to judge a Mexican restaurant is by their salsa. Taste like canned ketchup that is put in a pretty vase to pour in a bowl. The steak is no bueno. I grew up in a Mexican community. This restaurant serves delicious food. None of the food was bland, as previously described. They have always been efficient. I've always been seated in a timely manner. My servers have been awesome! The staff, in general, have been lovely. I've never been forgotten about, as previously described. And, my food is served hot. Their non alcoholic drinks are made to perfection! My favorite is the tamarindo (Tamarind) juice. The restaurant is beautiful inside. The center of the restaurant has the bar area. It also has an outdoor space. One thing I discovered was that their seats were made in Mexico, which makes the place that much more special. You have to go in and try their food and enjoy the environment. A few things I'd like to see: adjustable lighting (soft white) to make the space more elegant at night; ladies night deals; kids eat free days; and breakfast served some day, or maybe just on weekends. Any of these can be on the first Monday of the month, for example. Or, first weekend of the month. read more

Food was excellent as was service - once we finally asked for a waitress. We were seated immediately but after 10 minutes of being ignored had to ask for someone to wait on us. We were told the person who seated us didn't put us on the "board" where the wait staff is assigned.
