Edley's does not get much attention in STL possibly due to a plethora of BBQ restaurants. However, it could be favorably compared to a local chain, Sugarfire, that does get much recognition for its meat, variety and well done menu. The holy trinity of local BBQ is brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. Edley's has another local favorite -- pork steaks. It also has smoked turkey, chicken, and ham. I decided to try the chicken sandwich because poultry is more challenging for many wanna be pit masters. It had a distinctive smoke ring and included both white and dark meats for flavor. Served Southern style, it included a dollop of vinegar slaw and dill pickles. The lunch special was a good value and included a side and soft drink. Brisket tacos satisfied a companion. read more

I really enjoyed the way the menu was laid out, it made ordering super easy. The staff was incredibly kind throughout the whole visit, and cleanliness was a clear priority. Love the excel brand sodas and the cherry on top was the banana pudding (5/5 dessert). I stopped for lunch. Had seen the place before but today was the day. I got a Brisket sandwich lunch combo. It was tasty, moist and tender. Kaya took my order and brought it to me. She did a great job. The place is what you would expect of a BBQ place. I'm hoping to stop by in warmer months as they have doors to open up and outside seating. We understand this place is about 30 minutes from downtown St. Louis, but it was 4 mins away from our hotel, and the front desk staff recommended it. Ordering was easy; we got the ribs and brisket platter $24 and added a jalapeño cheese sausage for $5, though we were charged $5.50 instead. For sides, we chose green beans and coleslaw, and the meal came with a piece of cornbread. We specifically asked for brisket with more marbling, and the cashier even wrote more fatty pieces on the receipt. Unfortunately, when we got back to the hotel and started eating, the brisket was extremely lean, dry, and flavorless, very disappointing. The ribs were okay, but the hot link casing was rubbery, chewy though the flavor itself was decent. The green beans and coleslaw were fine but unremarkable, and while the cornbread was cold, it was flavorful and had a nice texture. Overall, the meal was underwhelming. The total came to around $32, but given the quality, you can find much better barbecue elsewhere. We wouldn't return, even if we were in the area again. read more

I was not sure what to expect but I stopped by for an afternoon lunch and there was plenty of seating. Parked in a medium lot in this mall shopping center. You walk thru a cue line and order off their chalkboard menu. Most entrees come with a jalapeño cornbread which was out of this world ! Jade was taking my order and she was cool and just patiently waited for me to complete my order and I explained I had never been before. Ordered a half chicken and brisket , you can choose between 7 or 9 ounces. Sides chosen were green beans (tasty with bacon) potato salad (nah, not for me) banana pudding (omg yesssss!) and Mac n cheese ( nice and creamy ) they offer their own branded fountain beverages ( get the cherry cola ) and they have a cool little bar set up that opens out to a outdoor patio. I went over and ordered a drink from their bar of their new mixed drink menu , they and just gotten the new one that day. There was a few TVs up and some classic rock music was playing. We had a fantastic meal today! Edley's is a great addition to the O'Fallon dining scene. Their patios are perfect for fall evenings, and we were very impressed with the menu variety. Not just barbecue but fried catfish and wings too - and a lovely bar area! The fried pickles were the best I've ever had. All of our dishes we tried were freshly prepared and delicious. The salad could have been a bit more substantial. They have a great selection of beers on taps and quite a few cocktails. We also thought it was nice food and alcohol were served separately so it kept the food line mo? We will absolutely be back! The line went quick and we got our food within 5 minutes. Great service. But the food was just ok. The brisket was dry so I'd recommend you get the brisket taco since it adds some sauce to it. And the jalapeño cheddar sausage was good. Though it's hard to mess those up. The portions of the sides are extremely small. So it's not worth the money for them if you have to pay extra. The brisket was ok but a little fatty In the past, I've had the smoked turkey and the catfish, both of which were outstanding. SIDES: The mac-n-cheese was fine. The green beans were likewise fine. The first sign of trouble was they didn't ask if I wanted the flat or the point when ordering the brisket. The second sign of trouble was that when the food came, everything was drowning in BBQ sauce. The pork was cold. The brisket was dry. The noodles in the Mac n cheese were not cooked. This was borderline great BBQ, if you are looking for something not too heavy. I had their BBQ pork plate with green beans and grits casserole. Their BBQ is allegedly Nashville style - I cannot speak to authenticity, but the chopped (not really pulled) pork was nice and juicy and tasty. Green beans had a nice kick and were nice and light, and even the grits casserole managed to be flavorful and not heavy at the same time. We finally made it to Edley's. We stopped in for a very late lunch. The food and service were great. I got the Nashville hot chicken and my bf got the burnt ends. Just a warning the Nashville hot is no joke and quite spicy. I loved it! The bf enjoyed his burnt ends with Macaroni and Cheese, I had green beans as my side. I've eaten here 3 times in the last month. Only 1 out of the three times has my order been correctly made. I requested my sandwich to be made 'plain' because I do not like the sauce and slaw (or whatever it is) on my sandwich.... I placed my order in person and even reiterated that I wanted it plain. I've even tipped prior to receiving my food. I never send food back to be made again because I simply don't trust the re-do... My suggestion is to have the person taking the order read it back to you... The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't something that would draw me back. We've tried for two consecutive Wednesdays to eat here. Last week, we arrived at 6:30 and were informed that they were sold out of turkey and chicken-both things we went there for. Tonight, we called at 7:20 to confirm that they still had chicken and turkey and were informed they had both. The phone message states the restaurant is open until 9pm. Upon arrival at 8:15, we were told the restaurant closed at 8. As shown on the screenshot, Yelp also states this store closes at 9pm. I can not begin to describe my disappointment. Let's start with me showing up around 4:30pm on Saturday to pick up two family meals and letting them know my first meat choice was ribs only to be told that they are out of ribs! At the start of dinner service the place that should be known for its ribs (bbq joint) with no ribs? Really. Ok- so I order some chicken brisket and even opted for hot sausage links which was suggested by the take out waitress. Get home and open up the box and they looked like hotdogs sliced up. Very small and appeared to be overcooked and shrunken possibly smaller than hotdogs. Did an order of wings as well and dried out. Overall the meal which was over $160 left me and my family disappointed. From now on I will ask for samples and if a self proclaimed bbq joint is out of ribs I will walk away like I recommend you do not read more

We arrived at 6 in Sat and they were out of so many things. No pork at all, and I think they were out of chicken and beef tips too. Even half of the soda fountain was out. Food came out quickly and was pretty good, but the corn bread was like a brick. They need to get their ordering under control. Shouldn't be out of half of their meats in a Sat night. Another BBQ place to eat you says? Well I didn't but I did eat here and it was just delightful dealing with such friendly folks that were happy to see you and serve you. I ordered that there pork platter with that oh mazing cornbread and two sides. Now it wasn't all perfect, but that could be my taste buds just weren't ready for the two bean style baked beans, it just tasted...weird to me. But then it all got redeemed once again with that wholesome potato salad... The best salad in my opinion. So overall it was a good experience and me and the misses will be back again one day. I struggled to make my decision because the menu at Edley's is vast. I chose the pork tacos and I'm sure glad I did. The meat was smoky and tender and there was plenty on each taco along with spicy onion straws, fresh cilantro, and chopped jalapeños on top. The shell is lightly fried so it's not soggy. OMG! Delicious! A basket of fries on the side were fresh and seasoned with good stuff -- I detected salt pepper and a little bit of sweetness. My friend had the smoked Turkey sandwich and loved it too. The service was wonderful!! Our waitress was so sweet and friendly she even prayed with us! The cook came out and got some tea and asked how our food was. Catered a meal for our football team after a game. Ordered for 130 people. Food was hot and ready, and on time. The girls that delivered did a phenomenal job setting up and making sure we had everything we needed. They provided everything we needed. The players loved the food and raved about the grits casserole! At around 15$ a person you simply cannot beat that price for this great quality of food!
