Menu options can please the pickiest eaters from yummy truffle potato wedges to yuzu koshu caesar salad to pan seared cod and filet mignon. And the cocktails were to die for. Second visit to Le Ono and I'm officially obsessed. Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and Le Ono delivered--again. The vibes are tropical lounge meets casual glam, and the food is every bit as memorable as the decor. Cocktails: I started with the Jade in Spades--Empress gin, kiwi cucumber cordial, lemon, and bubbles. It was crisp, refreshing, and as pretty as it was delicious. Followed it up with the Matcha Clarified Milk Punch which was creamy, unique, and wildly smooth. If you're into elevated cocktails with unexpected twists, this place gets it right. Apps: We split the Ahi Poke Nachos (crispy wonton chips, pineapple salsa, sriracha aioli) and the Squid Fritto Misto (tempura squid, broccolini, lemon aioli). Both were packed with flavor and totally devourable. If you don't order the nachos, I don't trust you. Thoroughly let down by this place. The food was fine, but at nearly $60 per entrée, you expect exceptional. The tom kha should have been a fraction of what it cost with how little depth it had. Fish was so forgettable. The only saving grace was the tiger shrimp salad which was genuinely delicious. The shrimp was marinated beautifully and had just the ever-so slight char flavor. Their lunch was incredibly delicious, and the bread pudding was the best dessert we have EVER had. We had family in from out of town, so we ordered a variety of lunch items - garlic shrimp, smash burger, french dip, and ginger salad with chicken (best salad I've ever had). My sister, brother-in-law, and I recently had a delightful dinner at this restaurant. I mentioned to our waitress, Heather, that I was visiting my sister and was originally from Virginia. I also shared that this would be my first vacation since retiring, and I was planning to visit Hawaii. Heather generously offered some fantastic food recommendations, which were absolutely amazing and have made me even more excited about my upcoming trip to Hawaii. This restaurant is a must-visit! The love and passion in the food and drinks are palpable. The ambiance was equally captivating, and the overall experience was simply incredible. A special shoutout to the chef for taking the time to chat with us. He made us feel like we were guests at his home, and he was genuinely friendly and welcoming. I was very excited to try this new gem in O'Fallon, IL after reading rave reviews. I made a reservation for dinner on a Thursday and was promptly seated upon arrival. The space is small but the lounge/bar is separated from the main dining area by tall padded benches. The ambiance is lively but quiet, which we enjoyed. We started with the crab Rangoon and it did not disappoint. The appetizer is served with sweet and sour sauce and it's four rangoons per order. For my entree, I had the breaded red snapper. Honestly, I was a bit worried it had been overcooked when I cut into it but it was just fine. The fish was served with pineapple salsa on top as well as a coconut based sauce, all on a bed of wild rice. The flavors were tropical but I also loved the coconut sauce, which reminded of a Thai dish. My husband had the petit filet and it was cooked to perfection. The filet was served with a thick potato medallion that was very good. To close it off, we shared a bread pudding made with glazed donuts from a bakery down the street. Service was great! OMG. Amazing. The food we had was amazing and the service beyond wonderful. I had the pork tenderloin and it was the best I have ever had in my life. It was cooked sous vide! I loved butternut squash that came with it. I also tasted the filet with potato and I loved it as well. Be aware that the menu changes as to what is in season. Our server was incredible. She gave great suggestions and never rushed us. It was a wonderful relaxing meal with friends. I loved the decor - French Polynesian. We have never had one, good meal here, sadly. We have tried this place on four different occasions in hopes of a better experience, and each was more disappointing than the last. The flavors were lackluster and disappointing. Proteins were typically dry and uninspired. We were never excited to have the same dish the next time we visited. Then I had the Crispy Sesame Tofu and I'm not a vegetarian but again the flavors in this are exceptional! Last was dessert and the Apple Pie Donut Bread Pudding did not disappoint, yum ! Being gluten free makes it a challenge to eat at many places, but this place adjusted as they could and made suggestions to make our dinner perfection. We booked for Saturday night happy hour after getting multiple rave reviews from others. I'm a bit of a traveled foodie, so when something good pops up locally, I try to make it out. We made sure to not book in the dining room, and our reservation started at the same time as happy hour. Upon seating, we were only given the dining menu. We asked for a happy hour menu, and the waitress walked to the bar and negatively said, "they're just here for happy hour" while grabbing menus, assuming we couldn't hear her. This negatively set the tone for the rest of the evening, even though we ordered multiple dishes from both menus. Food was average to slightly above average for the area. They rely heavily on sauces and garnishment for strong flavor profiles, but we got terrible cooks on steak and beef bulgogi. Cod was simple and fantastic. I think the main selling point for the happy hour is cheap drinks. You can walk in and spend $9-12 a drink on high quality cocktails. As someone not interested in drinking, that unfortunately wasn't a selling point for myself. If you're coming just for the food, or for genuine service, consider elsewhere. read more

Le Ono is a beautiful place that surprises you in downtown O'Fallon because of its extensive menu, unique selections, and amazing cocktails. Had the watermelon sesame sashimi as an appetizer, and it was beautiful to look at and tasted nice. Just a bit odd overall because I wanted to enjoy it like sushi, it looked like sushi, but it was watermelon. And didn't fill me up like sushi. So probably wouldn't order that again, quite honestly. Plus there are a lot of other choices that look pretty amazing. Friend had Ahi poke nachos and said they were delish. Ordered the Chilean Sea bass and literally, to die for. Okay, O'Fallon NEEDED something like this. It was so good. The best part was the ambiance. The food was okay. My steak was way overcooked, but I didn't want to ask for it to be re-done. Ordered medium rare and got a medium well/well-done steak. I was so disappointed. I'm sure they would have made it right, but I was hungry and didn't want to send food back. The drinks were good! A group of 5 of us came for Happy Hour and out of those 5, 4 of us had reviewed the happy hour menu online and had landed on both drinks and food that we were interested in trying. After sitting down and being handed a menu, we realized that they were totally different from what was online. We were told that they change their menu so often, they can't keep up with it online. Really? Taking a picture and posting it online is THAT hard? Then maybe they shouldn't post a menu online? The food was good, but they act like it's SO special that they don't owe customers the normal courtesies that most restaurants offer. No, it's not that good. It reminded me of a while back, I'd been planning on getting brunch here and since they only did it once a month, I'd put it on my calendar. But when I tried to make a reservation, brunch hours weren't offered. You can't call them because there's no phone number on their website. I emailed and was told they had changed that month's brunch to a different date. Nothing on the website said that. Just rude. If you can't keep your website up to date, maybe you should switch to a Facebook page? read more

Had a great birthday dinner here! The halibut was cooked just right--super tender and full of flavor. You could tell it was fresh, and the sauce it came with really brought everything together. I also had an Old Fashioned, and it was one of the best I've had --smooth, not too sweet, and really well balanced. My entire party of nine would say the same. An unbelievably amazing location, staff, and menu. We stopped in for the brunch today and shared a little bit of everything. The French toast was crispy and caramelized on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside with the coconut cream drizzle over the top. The pork belly poutine with the fingerling potatoes was absolutely divine. I love the flavoring and seasoning of the crispy potatoes, the gravy that was in there added so much flavor, and the pork belly itself was super flavorful and easy to shred apart. We also got the biscuit and jam platter. This comes with two biscuits and slices of a baguette, sweet butter, apple jam, and caramelized onion, and bacon jam. I didn't personally try the king, crab and lobster bagel, but I was told it was wonderful. I also did not try the bison, burger, rice bowl, but it was completely finished, and was also said to be super flavorful and absolutely amazing. I got the dull whip cocktail and it was the perfect breakfast cocktail. The alcohol flavor wasn't super strong, but it did taste exactly like my favorite Disney treat! read more
