Frequent visits to the Clam Shack for lobster rolls and haddock dinners is how I pass my summer and I haven't had a bad meal there.

Really good lobster toll and fries. Wish they had indoor seating dang seagull landed on my table and scared the $h1t out of me.

Absolutely the best fried clams I've ever had. Crispy, sweet, small bellies so just enough of the belly taste without overwhelming the flavor, fried in clean oil so they're light tan not dark brown, totally flavorful. I'm a native Bostonian/New Englander. I've had clams all over the area. Nothing compares. I drove all the way from Boston just for the clams. Do yourself a favor if you're reading this, taste them for yourself. read more

Came here for lunch with some friends and it was fantastic. I had the lobster roll. It was delicious!! A generous amount of lobster at a very reasonable price ($15). It is normally served on a regular roll- for an extra buck you can get it on a brioche roll. DO THAT!!! It was soooo good! Also awesome was the atmostphere. The kid working at the counter was friendly, the service was relatively quick, they had a great play list going (lots of throwbacks) and you can't beat the view. I am such a fan of the Clam Shack at Salem Willows. It's one of our favorite summer stops and we bring family who come to town for a visit because the seafood has always been amazingly good. It's not cheap, but the food had always been delicious and plentiful. We ventured out of our house for the for take-out food for the first t ime in two months because of the Covid lockdown and chose this place because we knew we could do take-out and eat somewhere on a picnic table or bench nearby. They opened for the season May 15th, so they've been up and running for a couple of weeks already. We called in our order, paid by credit card and picked it up at the window, it was ready when we arrived at the scheduled time. The eating area with the picnic tables was still closed because of Covid guidelines which we sort of expected. There were lots of people hanging out waiting for food, but appropriately distancing. We got fried whole clams, fried shrimp and onion rings. The food was still hot. The clams were really chewy and rubbery. Very disappointing because they have always been fabulous. The shrimp were not even fully cooked. They "looked" cooked and were golden, but they were still translucent and undercooked. And the onion rings were excessively salty, even inedible. This was a trifecta of disappointment. What a huge let down. I'm not even sure I'll go back again. After all this is New England and you can spit and hit another seafood place with better fried seafood. An extremely disappointing outing. read more

It is a small building just off the water. The whole belly clams were very good. The French fries were not hot or crispy but I went for the clams, not the fries. Next time, and there will be a next time, I will try the onion rings. Counter help were very friendly and attentive. We visited the Clam Shack while exploring Salem Willows Park. As a girl from Kentucky, this area was extremely different to me. And I loved it! This place was awesome! The food was absolutely delicious! And the view alone is worth a trip to this spot! We had a Gourmet Lobster Roll, Fried Clams, Corn on the Cob, and Fries. Everything was amazing. The seafood was extremely fresh and everything was cooked perfectly. The lobster roll was phenomenal. So simple, yet so delicious. The sweet tender lobster, dripping with butter, on the toasted brioche - simply amazing. Well after a six-hour drive I was excited to try one of their lobster rolls. It was good, a little bland and certainly would be my number 1 on my New England's tiniest lobster roll list LOL. I would not return I've had much much better. read more

The place is super busy all the time probably the most busy at Salem willows. I think the prices are reasonable I think the kids are super nice that works there. I think the clams are really good and the fries are pretty decent. However I'm hoping I just got the wrong batch but the onion rings I had tasted like they have been dipped in the ocean and then fried they were so salty I literally would not let anyone who had a sodium problem have them because they taste that bad not to be dramatic. We absolutely LOVED everything about the Clam Shack! The location is awesome with fantastic water views and lots a shade trees to enjoy your meal. The food was excellent! This is random, but they have the BEST tartar sauce I've ever had in my life. Hubby ordered the haddock with fries and says it was perfect. A great sized filet that had just enough crispy breading and was very tasty. I had the clam strip basket that was equally delicious. Again, the breading was just right and the clams were cooked perfectly. The fries were good and both meals offered good portion sizes. We brought our three dogs who enjoyed the view and very dog friendly atmosphere. read more

Although the name is deceiving, the food is awesome like a 4 start restaurant! I would highly recommend on a nice day to come and enjoy your meal outside under the umbrella tables. Stopped by here last weekend after taking the kids to the Salem Willow's arcade. The line was a little long but not too bad, I waited about 25 minutes to order. The customer service was great they are really friendly and funny. The food is amazing. The menu is full of delicious seafood. I tried the Haddock dinner which came with fries and coleslaw. It was baked and just the right amount if crispy. The tartar was so good, with lots of onions, I think they make it. They have a few picnic benches with umbrellas to eat at (for their customers only ). They give you a number with your receipt and when your order is ready they call it over the speaker so you can take a little walk and enjoy the view while you're waiting. I have been here about six times out of convenience and for the view. The meals have ranged from pretty ok to bad. Last night's food was so bad I don't think we will be back, which is a shame because we live right down the street. Pros: Convenient with awesome views. You usually don't have to wait long in line. The kids hot dog and grilled cheese are good. Cons: Last night my fried haddock plate had a bad fishy chemical taste and did not seem fresh. My husband said his clams were chewy. We paid about $22 for just a clam box and $20 for the fried haddock so that's a lot of money for a crummy meal. They won't let you sub onion rings for french fries so you have to get a $6 side order. Then the onion rings were cold!!! Cold slaw watery and nasty in a small tiny side cup. The picnic tables were uncomfortable and there are no high chairs. read more

I literally still have butter on my hands as I'm typing this, hahaha. So, I was feeling a little bummed out because I spent nearly a week in Salem and hadn't tried a lobster roll. I figured, oh well, just not meant to be right? So my gf and I were buying candy from Ye Olde Pepper Companie, when we overheard the sweet, loveable lady behind the counter recommend the Clam Shack as the best lobster roll in town. My gf looked at me and said we're gonna get you one before we fly back. We took a Lyft down to the Clam Shack, asked the driver to wait, ordered a lobster roll with butter on brioche, and hopped back into the cab and off to the airport. It was delicious! Amazingly good and came with fries too. Eating your first lobster roll in the back of a Lyft, heading to the airport, is maybe not everyone's idea of the perfect lunch, but it genuinely was. The value is average and the fried haddock nuggets were pretty good however the French fried potatoes were terrible they had absolutely no taste they were dry (might've been air fried) and they ruined my whole meal. The fried scallops melt in your mouth. They are the best fried scallops that I've ever eaten. The fried clams are equally amazing and the clam chowder is a must have. This place exceeded my expectations in every way. The lobster roll with butter on a brioche roll was the best sandwich I can remember eating. The lobster was plentiful, tender, and sweet. The buttery grilled brioche roll was a perfect crispy and salty compliment to the lobster. The sandwich was over the top. My wife had the roll sans butter. It was very good but not quite perfection. Surprisingly their service was as good or better than the food. The entire staff was genuinely concerned about how much we enjoyed the food. To top it off they brought my boys a t shirt and stickers. Best. Onion rings. EVER. Crispy-light-tender-oniony-salty goodness. I want some right now. Also: crab roll very fresh if not exciting, maybe not worth 5 stars on its own, but yummy. Fried scallops sooooo good - sweet, tender, perfectly (not over-) cooked, light breading. Lobster roll well stuffed and minimally fussed with. Absolutely beautiful view from the picnic tables out back, looking out over a bit of Salem Willows Park and out onto the harbor. We did have to wait for 15 minutes or so to order and I hear it's like that all the time, but food came pretty quickly once we had our order it and it was totally worth the time. Everyone who worked there seemed cheerful and were friendly and patient to deal with. Will absolutely be back. read more

A nice place for a park. It was fairly fresh and was nice quality. My chicken kabob salad had fresh veggies and grilled chicken, but it felt the chicken had a weird texture at points. It came with a side of pita which was nice. The lobster roll was good too with a fresh bun. read more

Great Lobster Roll. Lots of Lobster meat. I went with the buttered version and it didn't disappoint. Also had the Clam Chowder which was very good, good amount of clams and not too much potato.
