Since the founder of this fast food chain passed away, Wendy's has been different. Years ago they gave up the salad bars and have marginalized the baked potato. Now, was once and record of excellence in service and consistent quality , there is mediocrity. I once chatted with the assistant manager of this Wendy's and asked how it was their service was so much better than their competitors? He had no answer - however, in conversation it came out that they were taught to listen and think before they act. Evidently this fundamental training has been lost. It appears that the staff struggle to perform their duties and definitely do not stop and think before they act. Having noted the reviews here were terrible, I made the effort to stop by and lace a simple order, "Grilled Chicken wrap with lettuce only and a chocolate frosty with a key tag". I had placed this order for my son many times and figured it was a fair benchmark. They completed the order in a timely manner, and the quality was consistent with Wendy's standards. But it was difficult to get the order communicated, requiring several careful repetitions. As for the clientele, it is whomever is about. This is not a trendy neighborhood, so don't expect the jet set crowd... Curious, I repeated the experiment in Andover, Woburn and both shops in Lynn. They all did fine, with varying levels of grace. Woburn was charming and Boston street Lynn actually chased me down with the rest of the change (my bad, their excellence). Note to management: Go back to the old way of training and get back to cleaning everything several times a day. These two details are often sketchy and need constant reinforcement. It's just your standard Wendy's location with basic fast food options. Service is ok. But the reason it gets only 1 star is because when I went here there was a large homeless encampment next to the parking lot. I counted 8 separate tents. The hours of operation posted at location are ignored by staff and wrong online. I waited from 7am to 7:55am for them to open the lobby and it never happened. I tried knocking and calling and was ignored. Online hours say they open at 6:30am but that's not true only the drive thru is. I was not in a car at the time since it's so close to my hotel. The lobby according to the door is supposed to open at 7:30am. I know they seen me waiting and knocking idk why they are not prepared to open on time. I never leave reviews on fast food places because how much can one expect, but this is the worst Wendy's I have ever been to. The staff is very rude and do not even acknowledge you. We waited about 20 minutes with only two cars in front of us. When we finally got to to the window, the woman opened the window. My husband said, "Hi, how are you doing?" She said nothing but closed the window. We waited for a a few more minutes before she reappeared asking if we had an entirely different order. We told her what our order was supposed to be. It was a mobile order but they never made it, so we waited a bit longer. She handed my husband a bag and closed the window before we could even ask for ketchup or remind her for our soda. First bad experience, made a mobile order only to go inside and find out it has not been acknowledged by the staff. Second bad experience, went to use a mobile coupon and the manager did not know how to process it. Third bad experience, went to redeem a FREE burger with the points that I earned. Staff told me "This Wendy's, nothing is free" then proceeded to get the manager. That same manager STILL did not know how to process the coupon! I am a very patient person but on this particular day I HAD ENOUGH. No person should walk out of Wendy's hungry with the intention of getting food. This Wendy's is a blight on the neighborhood. At one point last year the building's outside lights were out for about four months which in addition to being a public safety issue for pedestrians crossing the driveway is also just a bummer for an otherwise vibrant neighborhood; late night drive-thru traffic routinely backs up onto Peabody Street, the location is perpetually under supplied (being out of baked potatoes or salads at 11:30 in the morning, multiple times). Most of the reviews on here go after the workers, fair play, the service is bad. But the biggest issue is that the franchisee just does not care about this location, so long as tourists and drunks (and drunk tourists) flood it in October they're set. Yelp really needs to allow people to leave 0 stars. This was the worst Wendy's I have ever been to in my life. The employees are rude and have terrible attitudes. The entire restaurant is dirty with trash all over the floor. It was so unsanitary the food we purchased we didn't eat because we were worried about the quality and the people who prepared it were not friendly so there's no telling what they did with it. I never leave bad reviews, but this place was insanely bad....almost SNL parody bad. The manager was only concerned about filming herself for social media, even as the frustrated customers kept adding up. She would pretend to occasionally shake the fries to show some motion, but never look at the orders. Some guy came in, and after waiting several minutes to order, walked behind the counter to steal his order, and flipped off the staff as he left....no one noticed. A surreal experience. Customer got into a shouting match with the guy behind the counter over what benefits the manager position might have for an applicant. Fast food no more! I'm not an alarmist, but a peek into the nutritional value of the new Baconator was alarming. Okay, yes, it was tasty, but the meal with a medium Coke and medium fries was a grand total of 1,470 CALORIES and 71 grams of FAT. An average man is only supposed to eat around 2,200 calories and somewhere between 40 to 50 grams of fat per day. If that's not repellent enough, the Baconator was no bigger than the bite-sized 99 cent burgers. Although Lent is over, perhaps I can abstain from fast food for the next forty weekdays. Just went to Wendy's and ordered a simple meal from the rudest cashier you could ever imagine. I walked up and asked for "Bacon Jalapeno Fries" and a large soda as I do from time to time. The cashier who seemed to barely speak english looked at me and said "Bacon Jalapeno"? I said yes. She then asked me if I wanted the combination with the drink and I was like "sure why not. She rung in a Bacon Jalapeno Hamburger, large fries, and a drink. My boyfriend caught the mistake and I said, "Sorry, no, bacon jalapeno fries". She looked at me with disgust and told me I only said "bacon jalapeno" and proceeded to mutter things in Spanish to her coworkers. The manager came to the register to fix it and gave me the nastiest look. I was polite and patient the whole time. Not to mention the place always smells like old mop water. Multiple times that I have waited in the drive through I have sat at the order machine for over 10 minutes waiting for someone to take my order. Every single time I have purchased a spicy chicken go wrap it I can't even call it a wrap it's all loose in my bag. I love Wendy's, and I love to Eat Great, Even Late. However, I can't tell you how many times I've been to this Wendy's well before their advertised closing time only to be told that they are closed. Perhaps I could sympathize with the workers on this, if they didn't constantly SKIP ON THE SAUCE.
