Looking for a place for late night eats? This is the spot! My partner and I were looking for a spot that was open late and we found out about Bill and Bob's. This place is open till 2:30am everyday with the seating area closing at 10pm. It's the latest spot I've seen around here. The menu had a number of items but I decided to get a junior roast beef and fries. This had to have been the best roast beef I've ever had and their horseradish is fantastic! The workers were very nice and patient since it was our first time being at this place. The service was also quick and they had several people working late. I want to rate this higher because Bill & Bob's definitely fills a unique niche, but to call it four or five star would be a stretch. Bill & Bob's was THE late night place to get drive through grub when I was in high school. Forty years later it is still a guilty pleasure. The food is hot and the fries are plentiful and when you've got a craving late night it's a great place to go. I was told about the food by a coworker who grew up in the area. With how fast they had two orders ready to go was the best part of the service I could ask for. One of the main reasons for their five-star rating is that they are open late. Second, in my book, being able to purchase fried chicken and fries somewhere other than Pop**** or K*C is top tier. I ordered my food using the drive-thru and went with the chicken wing basket. This consisted of six chicken wingettes fries and onion rings. I also ordered Buffalo chicken bites. They were super generous with condiments. I got bbq sauce, hot sauce and ketchup on the side. The food was hot, fresh and flavorful. I wish the onion rings were battered better. It looked like they ran out of batter. So I didn't eat the onion rings. But the chicken and fries were on point. I must admit, I ended up using the condiments I had at home because I didn't care for their homemade bbq sauce. Service was polite and speedy. Not sure of ambiance because I didn't go in but from what I could see from the drive thru window everything appeared appropriate. The sandwich lacked really any taste -- I found it bland and underwhelming after having higher expectations based off of reputations and reviews I read. You just can't believe how bad this food is. Burnt onion rings. Ten for five dollars and I'll eat them for hours after I consumed them . Your experience really depends on why you go here. If the bars let out and you're faced and you want to just fill the pit in your stomach with some of the most heart-humping comfort food, Bill n Bob's will definitely do it for ya. They've got awesome roast beef, pizza rolls, cheese steak rolls, fried zucchini sticks, broccoli bites, shrimp roll, turkey sandwiches, and on and on, and on... you get the picture. Now, for those who are a little less blotto when you're going for a nice greasy food fix, here's a couple of cons: 1. They're always closing early. It's supposed to be open 'til 2am. In my book, 2am means 2am. Their clock is DEFINITELY set like 5-10 minutes fast so even when you're screaming down the street for a quick roast beef (which takes 20 seconds to make), you will often see the lights going off even though your car clock says 1:52. Some times it's as early as 15 minutes. Maybe that's ok with you; it isn't with me. 2. Trash all over the parking lot some nights. I get it. The people inside are really food servers, not janitors. But some nights, local yokels can't seem to make it to the barrels and dump their shit all over the parking lot. It generally doesn't bother drunk people looking to plow good food except for the following... 3. Trash and extra food attracts seagulls. If you enjoy seagull crap all over your car, or just getting chased and dive-bombed by seagulls if you dare to pull your car over and polish off some food, then this is the place for you. Trash, seagulls and early closings. All a part of the charm of Bill n Bobs. The workers are pretty cool; they've all been friendly and straightforward. Came here at 1 am hungry and this place did not let me down. First off ... there's a DRIVE thru here. How great is that? I have never known of a roast beef place with a drive thru. So to get a real roast beef sandwich here you have to order an entirely other big beef and they add the roast beef and it costs about 14$. For a roast beef sandwich. Otherwise it's a thin veneer of roast beef on top of a lot of onions and lettuce. Was hoping this time I could pay some extra for a real super beef, but had to pay for two sandwiches to get one. One has to drive to Mike's in Lynn for the real thing, but unfortunately that is a real hike, and they close early so one is hostage to the Over-rated Bill and Bob's cash factory. So a couple of us stopped here after having some drinks at a local establishment in Salem. This place is open until 2am and it has a drive through (which is crucial). As a matter of fact it's one of the few roast beef shops I've seen to have a drive through besides Kelly's Roast Beef. Order was amazingly fast. Got a superbeef with sauce and cheese, and a pizza roll. This is an on par, high standard roast beef in the league of the Roast Beef sandwiches that is in the realm of North Shore cuisine. It is, I dare say, the standard that us north shore folks demand in our roast beef sandwiches. Yes, it was delicious. The pizza roll was a nice finish to the meal. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The dining area closes at night, so it is only drive through and take out. This place was a pleasant surprise. I got a big roast beef sandwich and it was pretty good. I got it plain, but did have to put a little salt on it. The bun was nice, a little chewy and toasted to perfection. The fries were perfectly good. Hot and crispy, just used ketchup. My husband got the super roast beef sandwich with sauce. He said there sauce tasted exactly like Arby sauce. He also asked to switch out fries for onion rings (we would have been fine to pay a little extra for an upgrade) and wad rolls the was no way to do that and we would have to just order it separately. We just ended up getting the fries as an additional order would have given us to much food. The roast beef is definitely good. Way better quality that Arbys, very tender and cooked perfectly. The only other downside is my Mountain Dew, which was supposed to be a fountain drink, tasted as if it came straight out of a 2 liter bottle.
