This place is the worst - I had a monthly membership and went through the proper process to cancel my membership (according to their guidelines). They secretly kept charging my account monthly even though I was no longer taking classes there. I had to dispute the charges with my credit card company who then blocked any additional charges from CKO. THEN they charged me under a slightly different name as to trick the block on my card TWO DIFFERENT TIMES. I eventually had to cancel my credit card and get a new card number after they continually tried to swindle me. On top of that the classes were not anything amazing - just basic kickboxing. Not worth all of the credit card drama. Super corporate and all they care about is getting your money. read more

I took a kickboxing class on a weekday evening for the first time. The lady at the front desk was super friendly and the gym is clean overall. I'd recommend not borrowing their gloves since they smell pretty horrible and your hands will smell accordingly. It's a pretty good workout if you're familiar with kickboxing, but I let the instructor know that I was new to it and he still didn't really help me with form or basics even though there were very few students in the class. Maybe not the best place for newbies, but seems like a good place for kickboxing otherwise! read more

I've been looking for a cardio kickboxing class to replace the one I used to take at the gym, this place is awesome! The facility is new, so it's super clean and all the equipment is really nice. The owner Christine has been really cool and motivating. This is my first experience taking a kickboxing class that actually uses bags (as opposed to kicking the air), and it's such a different experience. My body feels a lot more worked, and it's a good stress reliever to hit those bags. You have to either buy gloves there or buy them online beforehand, I picked up some fingerless Everlast ones online for about $25 and so far they've been working out fine. I definitely recommend this place to get your heart pumping, the hour-long class flies by! I see all sorts of shapes and sizes here, and so far everyone's been sweet. read more

I am a Crossfit virtuosity reject so I found cko kickboxing and I love it! NO ONE Ever tells you your form is bad; you need A $500 trainer, special classes etc cko was happy to have me and my daughter! Not to mention its a killer workout and the trainers are so helpful! read more

I joined CKO Williamsburg about two months ago and it was honestly one of the best decisions I've ever made for myself. I've noticed a lot of these reviews are coming from people who are already in shape, frequently work out and enjoy it - let me start by saying I am NOT one of those people. I hate working out. Ive tried joining gyms many times and I always end up cancelling my membership after a month or so. I just can't find enjoyment or motivation when Im running on a treadmill or lifting weights. So after realizing Gym's weren't for me - I decided to research kickboxing classes as I've always been interested in the idea of it, but wasn't quite sure how to get into it. After a quick google search I found CKO, did the free trial class, signed up and haven't looked back. Each class is different which keeps things interesting and by the end I am dripping sweat and feel like Ive got the best workout of my life. Also it makes getting into shape fun - a phrase I never thought I would say. All the instructors are fantastic in different ways, but my absolute favorites are Matt, MNM and Codie! Ive lost 15lbs in 8 weeks and Im still going strong! Regarding price - It is 100% worth the money. read more

I finally mustered up the courage to attend a CKO class and I regret not doing this years ago!! What a fun class and an intense work out! It's also a very friendly and supportive environment - everyone goes at their own pace but at the same time, the instructor really challenged and inspired us to go harder. Matt was fantastic- he took the time to introduce himself to all the first timers in the studio and to explain the different moves so we could follow along. He walked around and gave us pointers too. The studio was clean and spacious - you can either bring your own water or purchase a bottle there. My entire body is killing me today. I can't wait to go again!!!! read more

The classes are a great workout. The rest of the place seems like a farce. No locker rooms, the lockers are all broken, one of the toilets does not have a toilet seat, no water fountains. Further, you cannot reach anyone at the gym. I moved away from the area and needed to cancel my membership and have been unable to contact someone for over a month. Short of making a trek back into the 'Burg I doubt I will be able to do so. I am being charged for a membership that I am unable to use and they have no other contact options. All of the trainers I've had are awesome, but Paul is definitely my favorite. Look up the schedule or call to find out when he's teaching. He knows how to get the most out of you. Curious to see what the other locations have to offer I venture out. Most locations are not up to the Hoboken location challenge, honestly I blew through a few classes at other locations like champ. I love this gym! They have the best trainers. Paul and MNM are really great! Jovan, the gentleman at the front desk, is really super nice and very personable. This is a good place to train if you don't want to feel like everyone is watching YOU. Everyone seems to be all about getting in shape. The workouts are intense, but you can definitely sit out a few steps if you need to. I would recommend this gym to anyone. It's well-kept and very clean. I am giving the gym only 4 stars and not 5 because I have two suggestions: 1) Turn the AC up. Sometimes it gets too warm in the gym. 2) Some of the bags need to be more sturdy. I don't write a lot of reviews but I just had to say something about CKO. This place changed my life. It is high intensity but the instructors make it so that anyone at any fitness level can do it. They even show you alternatives to the harder moves. You will learn to love planking, push ups, mountain climbers....etc As far as the instructors go, they are all crazy but you kind of have to be to teach this non-stop. :D I love them all. I've mainly had Christine, Matt, MM , Ben and a few others but they are all FANTASTIC. I think going to they gym is kind of like gambling because sometimes you will have a great work out on your own or sometimes its really shitty. I've never left cko without a drenched shirt. It really does kick your ass. Also, it doesn't hurt that if you've had a really bad day you can beat the crap out of something. read more

This review is long overdue. A year ago, I came to CKO Williamsburg for a trial free class and bought my membership right after the end of it. I am a fitness enthusiast and have tried many different studios and classes, some are literally 5 times more expensive than this one, but I have never had that much fun and such rapid results at the same time and in one place as with CKO Kickboxing. I particularly like Matt's classes and there are quite a few other remarkable instructors there, who's classes I enjoy, some are professional or amateur MMA fighters. Jovan, the studio administrator is another positive factor I have to mention about this location. I was / am a huge fan of Paul, who's a rockstar and a true artist of fitness training. I really miss him. I've only attended his group classes, never got a private one, but every time it felt like I was being privately trained by a top-caliber fitness guru without neither being a celebrity no having to pay the top price. I hope and would be very happy if he returns to CKO Williamsburg. What I like about the studio and their training system, regardless of the instructor, it does make your body produce enormous amounts of endorphins guaranteed, which makes you coming back for more. read more

I hardly ever rate places on yelp but this one was worth it. I haven't worked out that hard and that amazing in a long time. Paul is an amazing instructor: motivating, encouraging, tough but not bullying, and definitely a lot of fun. I can't wait to go back! Might just become a member of CKO. If I could give CKO Willy-B a 10-star rating I would. I just finished up a 60 minute workout and I could literally take on the world. The workout experience here will totally rock your world!!! What you should know: 1. Alina is a ROCK STAR! She was an AMAZING instructor that kept the workout intense and upbeat with great music to match. She managed to keep you guessing about what would be next and workout every part of your body, From jabs, to push ups, to kicks to crunched....all that in a 5 minute span. You will leave her class knowing that you have had a full body workout. She also really manages to make you feel like you can do it..She was just the perfect balance of Jillian and Bob (for all you Biggest Loser fans) 2. The workout...anyone can do it. I loved that there were so many mixed abilities in the class. It was my first kickboxing workout, but your able to work at your own ability. I worked at maximum level and burned 800+ calories in 50 minutes...As you can imagine no small feat for anyone. You should expected to be moving the entire time...but it is all "MIND OVER MATTER". The workout consists of cardio (jumping jacks, a jog, knee raises), strength training & core work (squats, push-ups, lots of planks, etc.) and of course kickboxing. I know that each instructor is different, but again, its a total body work out. 3. It's a little out of the way, but its worth it. Bottom line, if you want a great workout go to CKO!!! read more

I kind of hate exercising but after coming back from a holiday that resulted in many extra pounds that weren't going anywhere I reluctantly did a class at CKO. It was pretty much love at first punch.... I prefer a high energy/cardio workout that will enable me to eat grilled cheese sandwiches without guilt and these guys deliver! It's awesome for stress relief and the instructors are all really good, my favourites are Christine/Matt and Allina who will have your arms and abs sculpted in no time. read more

First time here and it was really fun. A good mix of boxing the bags and doing some leg and ab work. I do recommend bringing your own gloves or purchasing them though because your knuckles get a beatdown. Will be back on another Tuesday. (Class pass friendly) read more

Awful!! I'd give 0 starts if possible. The classes were decent but the business itself is not. I cancelled classes in person and continued to be charged on auto payment (Which I never signed up for in the first place) after I had moved from New York to California. I called every day to no response. I even called a different location (New Jersey) where the front desk was incredibly nice and attentive, took down my info and promised they would try to help me out. No luck. The website is poorly designed and doesn't provide any other contact info. I reached out on the CKO Facebook page for this location and finally Matt the owner responded saying he'd refund me. However I have yet to see almost $300 back in my account. I continued messaging Matt and as the messaging feature on Facebook shows the recipient has read the message, Matt was reading my messages and was STILL not responding. It's incredibly frustrating. I have no way of going in as I moved but frankly I think this business is poorly run and from reading the other reviews, even if I could going in to dispute this wouldn't help. It's too bad because the instructors I had were great. Still waiting on the refund. read more

I absolutely love this kickboxing location. It's literally down the block from my apartment and the location is perfect, it's about time that we have a kickboxing studio in Williamsburg. Before I went to the class I called and spoke to Jovan. He's the manager at this location and he was sweet. I felt comfortable and excited to start learning how to kickbox before I even stepped into the facility. I ended up going to one of the classes the following day and enjoyed every bit of it. The class kicked my butt and I was sweaty and tired. My entire shirt was soaked and it was only an hour class. I was happy for the outcome and I ended up signing up for a membership. I recommend this location to anyone and more specifically CKO. I love this place and can't wait to go back!!! read more

Outside of the fru fru classes offered at my University back in the college days, I had never been to an actual kickboxing class. Tonight I went to this gym, and I was COMPLETELY impressed by the facility, instructors, and the lesson. Being a complete newbie to the kickboxing world, I had never even punched a hanging punching bag. Before class started, the teacher (I had the dude co-owner) took time out to teach us the individual moves. Side bar: the first class is FREE! Continuing the previous thought, after we learned how to have good form for all the moves, class started with some brief jump roping before diving into the full on kickboxing routine. Also, if you don't have gloves, the gym has some you can borrow. Just keep in mind they're kind of smelly and narky, so be sure to scrub your hands extra hard once class is over and never touch your face--not that you'd want to because your hands will smell so bad. Anyways, it was a full body work out that involved not only a punching bag routine, but also floor work. We did anything from mountain climbers, sit ups, squats, push ups, etc. in addition to all of the actual bag routine. Although the classes normally last 45 minutes, mine went the full hour, and it FLEW by. After a stressful day at work, this definitely was the perfect outlet. I think that after the first class, individual classes are $25 and then you can buy 10 classes for $200. I hope I can keep coming back because I know that I would see results if I kept up with this workout. read more

Amazing high intensity workout! I came here through classpass with no actual kickboxing experience and the staff was super friendly, positive, and welcoming. You do need gloves but they let you borrow or purchase them if you don't come with your own - if you plan on returning though it is worth it to invest in a pair of your own. The space is nice and clean, pretty bare bones but perfect for this kind of class. FYI this workout is not for the faint of heart but if you are looking to get after it then definitely try CKO! read more
