There were eight of us at the party today, with people scattered throughout the main dining room, the bar, and the back dining room. We happened upon this restaurant on a whim. Immediately, we were greeted and seated. The hostess was very kind. We sat for just a few minutes before our lovely waitress came to our table. She was so sweet and when we told her we were from Indiana, she got excited and said she was, too! Always nice to meet a fellow Hoosier even if it's in Ohio! We placed our order, waited a little longer than we had hoped but the food was worth the wait. Everything seemed to be so fresh, right down to the rolls and muffins our waitress had forgotten to serve at the beginning of our visit. I'm not hating though! I do not understand all the negative reviews of this place. My family and I all thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. The only valid gripe about this restaurant I read concerned its ambience being a rather dark restaurant. I can certainly acknowledge that, still its is a large one with plenty of room. They also have an area set aside for parties and events. Service was excellent. Our waitress was courteous, the food came out quick. My mother got some shrimp scampi, baked apples and mashed potatoes she absolutely loved to the point she immediately told me she wanted to return to this restaurant in the future. My brother ordered a farmhand burger, and I got a rack of the baby back ribs. These meals were delicious, hearty, and quite satisfying. One thing we all regret is that we did not take a fresh baked pie home, next time we will. I loved how on the way out you can grab a lollipop, the kid in me loved the idea. Great place! Not good. Service was ok but not sure we will ever go back. I ordered fish with broccoli and my wife got the Swiss Steak. It took quite a while to get our food and it was disappointing to say the least. When the food finally came my broccoli had some type of white bag on it I assume used for steaming but not sure why, the waitress saw it and just pulled it off. My wife went to take a bit of the Swiss steak and it had some type of plastic in it. She decided not to eat anything. Food was warm at best and after waiting as long as we did not sure why it wasn't at least hot. Sorry I really wanted to like it but just too many issues for me. Need to work on the kitchen and cooks, food should not come to the tables in this manner. read more

We went back to Highmarks for a late lunch. I ordered grilled shrimp stir-fry and Hubby got pork chops and rice with salad. My meal was excellent. Hubby used my stir-fry sauce on his chops and really liked it better. Good place to eat! read more

Friend and I went out for dinner. Honestly being new to town, I didn't know it was even back there. Zero wait time. Seated immediately. Waitress was nice. Knew her menu. Beer was ice cold. Nice place located near golf course and within walking distance of Best Western. I ordered the chicken Parmesan and side salad. Chicken was good, a little thicker than what you get at an Italian restaurant. It came on a large portion of spaghetti with a good amount of a tasty red sauce. The salad came with a "sweet and sour" dressing which i would describe as a creamy vinaigrette - I really liked the dressing. The chicken Parmesan came with a piece of buttered Italian spice flavored toast and they put small muffins and bread on the table as well with whipped butter. We surprised my dad for his birthday, so there was a group of 14 of us. I made reservations and they had the table ready when we walked in. The server was very nice, fast & accommodating. The manager even checked on us throughout the meal and helped clear plates & run food. We ordered a blooming onion, cheese sticks & pretzels - all were great. Sister in law ordered the farmhouse steak burger and she ate every bite. Their fries are steak fry style and looked good. They lose a because my meal, Cajun chicken pasta was not good . It lacked flavor, Cajun flavor that is....buttery noodles with chicken that tasted like it was precooked and bought from a bag. Needed ALOT of salt & seasoning. Very disappointed with it. They also need a bigger kids menu. They have a huge selection of food but their kids menu is only a few lines...confused as to why? Overall, we had a great time, great service and mostly great food! We came here for my husbands grandmas birthday. We had a larger party so we got the banquet/party room to ourselves. The restaurant was clean and waitstaff was friendly. Orders all came out correctly and wasn't a long wait. I ordered the flatbread and it was just okay. I thought the crust was too moist and mushy. My husband loovvveeeddd the Cobb salad though. I wish I would have read the review before we came. I have friends that come here a lot and I can't figure out why. Bland, sticky, cold, agitated are words I would use to describe this place. It's freezing by the disgustingly dirty windows and I'm wearing two layers. The table is sticky and I would have asked the server to clean it but we didn't have one when we sat down. This wouldn't have been as obvious is the grumpy lady hadn't announced to us the server was missing so she would "have to get our drinks." The couple next to us then also got drinks because apparently after they waited 15 minutes, it was arrival the clues in the grumpy lady that they hadn't been served. The rolls and muffins are ok, probably better warm than room temperature. The rusty thing they're served in is a little strange. I ordered a New York strip that had so little flavor that I almost got steak sauce and that's just wrong. Also it's served by weight and for $20.99 it shouldn't be 1/3 fat. Gross. We won't be back. Ever. Previous reviews are replied to with "I wish you'd have told us." I'm not going there because I don't want the grumpy lady involved again. It's clear from the start that you probably shouldn't complain for fear of her tirade. The missing server explained he was trying to take a five minute break on a ten hour shift. Poor guy. read more

We were unfamiliar with the area, but we thought CJ's menu seemed promising!! Cj's knocked it out of the park!! Excellent pretzels and cheese appetizer, and the fried Zucchini was stellar!! The soup was incredible and the Philly Steak and Cheese topped any I've ever had in Philadelphia, PA!! Absolutely, one of the best, most hospitable restaurants we've visited for a long time!! Food is so so. Decent appetizers, friendly staff. Food is bland and unimaginative. I had the pork chops, and they looked delicious. Once I tried them, there was absolutely no taste to them at all. It was if they were boiled, then seared quickly on the grill. A big disappointment. They meal comes with 2 sides. I had to pay extra to have a side salad as one of my sides. I also had green beans which were served lukewarm. It also bears mentioning we were there on New Year's Eve, and they were accepting walk ins. I was in town on business, and this looked like a nice independent place. I came on a Tuesday and the specials were 22oz Yuengling beer for under $3.00 and 4 piece fried chicken with 2 sides for under $10. I'm a bit of a fried chicken snob, so I wasn't expecting much. Let me tell you, this was some of the best fried chicken I have ever had!! Fried perfectly, the skin was delicious, the meat was all really juicy. Server was attentive and friendly (if I based a review on that, she'd get 5 stars), and lunch was fairly quickly served. Got the lunch special for today, 7oz sirloin and two sides. Ordered the steak medium rare; received well done, just barely pink. Meat was tender, but had no real flavor. I really don't like their fries (crispy, which is good, but taste is bleah; needs seasoning or something). The second side, applesauce, was in a tiny bowl. (I'm no elementary school student; and maybe add a little cinnamon . . .) Almost $20 for lunch, with sweet tea and tip. Not keen on going back, though I wonder if their wings are decent. read more

Went in here for a business lunch with my coworker and we both ordered salads. I had the Chicken Cobb and he had a Chicken Caesar. The salads were huge and the ingredients were nice and fresh and crisp. They gave us rolls and muffins to eat while waiting and they were great too! The waitress was new and was in training still but she did a great job. The only issue I had was that my coworker ordered a bowl of soup and she only brought the cup, but tried to charge for a bowl. They were quick to fix the check and courteous. The restaurant was nice, I will say it felt a little dark inside and our table was really sticky and had to be wiped down again after we sat down. I don't understand the low ratings. I attended a meeting here last Monday. The owner treated us wonderful. Meeting room and the facility were 10 stars, the food was excellent, everyone cleaned their plates, my pot roast was delicious, and the chicken chowder was great. I LOVE coming here and getting the most delicious, satisfying, dinner in the world...the Veracruz Wrap. The chicken is so breaded and juicy, the rice is spiced just right, the peppers are so crisp, the sour cream so smooth, and the cheese is so shredded. All of this is held together by a soft, perfect tortilla and topped with crunchy red chips. This is hands down the perfect food. If this food went away, I would be bereft. Food was decent, but service was unacceptable. We got sat at exactly the same time as another couple in the same room. Both tables ordered the same appetizer (bloomin' onion) and they got theirs 20 min before ours. We ordered a salad & tenders with fries and got ours after the other couple got their meal, bill, and left (over 1 hour). After finishing eating frustrated we had no time to shop (had time to return to babysitter), I had to got to the kitchen and have someone track down our waitress and bill. Another couple with the same waitress said "you to finally are going to check up on us" when the waitress finally came out with the bill. It should not take over an hour at 2pm on a Sunday to get a salad and tendies. I'm not sure if it was just the waitress who struggled with the few tables she had or if the kitchen was only processing the other waitresses orders. Regardless you should not process nearly identical orders from 2 tables 20-30 min different times in a kitchen. read more

Was in New Bremen for business for the week and got recommended to eat at this place by some of the staff. Overall the experience was not bad, but average at best. The prices were awesome, $3.50 for a double cheese burger that was not bad. The fries on the other hand looked and tasted as if someone had forgot them in the fryer over night. The beer selection also gained them back some point in my eyes. There really are a slim amount of options to eat at in the area aside from mcdonalds and those types of fast food places, so if you get the chance support this small business and enjoy a cold beer. read more

We had visited Highmarks in Troy when it was there 20 years ago so was excited to find another in celina still open ...however food was so so ...very greasy ...place was empty but stood in lobby waiting for a hostess to even come seat us .waitress was nice but the hostess and an older lady talked so loud ...constant yelling and huh ?....repeating loudly over parties coming in at 5pm moving tables ...but we were there at 3 pm and treated like didn't care about our privacy ...couldn't carry on conversation with my party because of them ...they were badmouthing other employees ...very unprofessional. Cj's doesn't excite me. Their decor is too dark and genetic. They have good food but the menu is overwhelming with waaaaay too many choices, so for a first timer it would be difficult to make a choice. In the ladies bathroom they have a sign that says "water is hot" The water is scorching hot!!!!! I couldn't wash my hands because of how hot the water was. There is no hot and cold. You turn the faucet on it goes straight to HOT, makes me wonder how do the employees wash their hands. I don't understand. If the water is HOT then fix it. The next time I go in there and it's still hot I will be contacting the manager and letting all the customers well aware. As far as the food. It's average. read more
