Ok, a couple of caveats. This was our first time here. It was also 5pm on Mother's Day. Peak time of the busiest day of the restaurant year. I understand also they were short-staffed. The food was wonderful, from the sausage appetizer thru to the tiramisu cake and the lemon marzipan cake. Our server Eliza was a delight. Truly a delight. I waited 40 minutes to receive my draft beer. I waited 45 minutes to receive my espresso drink after our meal. The staff was apologetic and solicitous toward us. Overall a fine experience. Again, peak business on the busiest day of the year. We will be back. Absolutely. The atmosphere and feel of the place exudes family. It's hard to be mad at family. We expect to post a 5-star review next time we come. I'd be surprised if we experience anything other than that. read more

We placed a large carry out order on Father's Day. Unfortunately the timing was off and I had to wait but I chose to be optimistic and be happy that my food would be fresh. I had several bags to carry back to the car and after waiting was then told that one of my desserts wasn't available. I agreed on a substitution. When we got home, they had packaged 3 soups on top of each other and the bottom one was collapsing/un able to eat. I didn't contact them about this issue. The food was good. During Mother's Day weekend, my brother and I took my mom to Casa Lu Al in Lima. My mother loves Italian food and she has an obsession with Lobster Ravioli. So, since this place is Italian that makes Lobster Ravioli, taking her here was a no brainer. It is located in Lima's new entertainment district, Spring & Main. It is a beautiful location, theres plenty to do in this district thus making Casa Lu Al a good idea for a family outing or especially a date night. There is a long wait, just warning you. Probably a good idea to get reservations. We did not, and we waited 45 minutes. It is a large restaurant with multiple floors, but it gets a lot of business. That said, there was a prom event taking place the night we went, so that may have affected it. We were taken to our table, eventually, and sat down. Our waitress, Ania, quicklu took our appetizer order which was the spicy shrimp scampi boat. The name is no lie, theres some heat to the dish. It is not overwhelming, though, and is very flavorful. After our apps, my brother ordered the fettuccine carbonara, my mother ordered the Maine lobster ravioli newburg, while I made another appetizer my main course the la casa meatball skillet. We enjoyed our meal, just something felt missing in each of our dishes. None of us could put or name what was missing, but we felt like it needed perhaps a bit more flavor. Still we enjoyed it and we full by the end of it. We then decided to have the Cubano with sugar and salt as our after dinner drink. For those unfamiliar with it, this is NOT an alcoholic drink. A Cubano is a type of coffee. It is strong like an espresso but it is supposed to be sweet. Some Cubans, of which my ancestry is Cuban, add a pinch of salt to it, which enhances the flavor. We ordered it, and had to wait over 20 minutes. Seems only the manager knew how to work the espresso machine. We were disappointed getting it. It should be a pinch of salt, it felt like it was quite a lot and had no sugar. The ratio was completely off and was terrible. All in all, it was a positive experience. Booked my reservation two months in advance. There were several events going on in Lima that night. They were unprepared for a crowd and we had to wait for over an hour to get seated. It was our son's college graduation and we had guests from out of town including out of state and this was their first time eating here and four guests had early morning departures with two others having a ninety minute drive after dinner. Been here at the new location at least a half dozen times now and every time I go (whether with my wife or friends) I keep expecting the time to be a better experience, but it's usually the same or worse as we go. The bartending staff is very nice, but not even the most seasoned people on staff are familiar with some of the cocktails my friends and I order. I think I heard on a few occasions "do you want me to come and make it for you too?" from a few people ordering. The food is good and for the most part is pretty similar to the old school Casa menu, although the PRICES are nearly doubled easily from the old place. So same old taste for double the price, do the math. You can also order a few pieces of sliced bread and dipping oil for $8+ !!!!! Really Heaphy? Really? You have an Italian Restaurant, the bread/oil should automatically be on the table bud. At first I couldn't find it in my being to give this place a 2 star, but when I found out I had to take an ELEVATOR down to use a bathroom, that was the moment of clarity on the rating system. The waiting area is a mess most weekend nights, so I personally recommend sitting at the bar if there is just two of you, usually spots open and you get quicker better service, but maybe not the exact drink you want ;) read more

Came in at 7pm on a Monday and there was no wait and the dining room was maybe to 25% capacity which made for a quiet ambiance. The decor inside is very clean and classy. (No pictures of the food because it felt beneath the dignity of the vibe to whip my phone out and start taking pictures) Food was great! We had the caprese salad to start. The spinach was crisp and a little spicy, the olives were flavorful, the mozzarella and the avocado were firm. The pesto sauce they put on the tomatoes is awesome! Had the mushroom ravioli and the strip steak. The steak was great and cooked exactly as requested. The ravioli was also good. The sun dried tomatoes were good but there was a lot of them. The service was less than expected for the price point of the menu. Server did not know if they had a Cabernet (they do not) Also did not know what bourbons were available and we had to choose from what bottles we could see/recognize behind the bar from our table (They do have Woodford Reserve ) Asked for A1 sauce and it was brought to me in a little plastic cup with a lid on it like it came from the carry out stock (I don't even know if they have carry out) Thought it was super weird for a $32 steak ‍ Server came half way through eating and asked if we wanted any other drinks; when we said no she came back with our bill and told us there was no rush. This was our first experience at the new Casa Lu Al and it will be our last. We were a group of 3 and made reservations for 415 in Nonno's Cellar. When we arrived it was hectic at the hostess stand. We couldn't actually walk into the restaurant because so many people were waiting and it was a weird area for people to stand. I was surprised it was that chaotic that early in the evening. The hostesses were very friendly and apologetic about the situation. We didn't wait very long and we were seated in a booth downstairs. The feel is definitely of a cellar but I thought maybe it would be a wine cellar or even have a cigar humidor. No such luck. There are large arches on the side of the room and if you're over 5 feet tall you have to bend down to not hit your head. It was also very loud and trying to talk at the table was hard. Our server was great. Very friendly and knew the menu well. We ordered 3 different appetizers: SIZZLING EGGPLANT VEGETABLE BAKE, ZUCCHINI & CAULIFLOWER FRITTI BASKET & STUFFED BAKED POTATO SKINS. The eggplant bake came out without the garlic crostini and the size of the vegetables were huge. It was very hard to share and eat. When I asked for it I received 2 pieces of plain Italian bread, not toasted, not seasoned. The zucchini & cauliflower basket was great. The baked potato skins were decent but it was drizzled with bbq sauce that wasn't noted in the description. We then moved on to the house salads which consisted of rough chopped tomatoes, celery, red onions, cucumbers & 2 croutons on top of bagged salad mix. Dressing was served on the salad. We also received plain Italian bread with prepackaged butter. Our main courses came out fairly quickly after the salads. We each ordered a different dish and none of us were impressed. Our dishes were: ITALIAN BREADED CHICKEN PARMIGIANA, CHICKEN PICATTA, TUSCAN STYLE SALMON with Italian green peas and garlic for the side dish. Chicken picatta had the same issue as the chicken parm. It was very chewy/spongy and the noodles tasted like it was just lemon sauce no garlic. It was decent but the noodles by themselves were not. Chicken parmigiana was suggested as one of the most popular dishes and after ordering it I'm not sure why. I received two large chicken breast but after a few bites had a weird texture and was very chewy. The breading was on the verge of being burnt on the outside but was grey and soft on the inside. Almost like it was cooked too fast and too high. The salmon wasn't bad. It was cooked well and the sauce wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. I wouldn't go out of my way for it and priced too high for just being okay. Desserts were ordered and this was probably the best part of the dinner. They serve Sara's Sweets PEANUT BUTTER THUNDER CAKE which was fantastic as always. The LEMON MASCARPONE LAYER CAKE was also ordered and very good. I grew up going to Casa Lu Al and unfortunately the mark was missed. Trying to push a high end feel with low budget food definitely shows. Prepackaged butter, Parmesan that's not fresh and plain bread is entirely too cheap for the prices on the menu. Between the 3 of us our total was definitely close to $200 and for that price it was definitely not worth it. As a side note: Two of us ordered unsweetened iced tea. The server came over and said the tea was out and they were making more. Some time goes by (enough time to brew tea) and he comes to say the same thing. They never had their teas refilled. read more

Great facility and hospitality. Fun ambiance. Salad - too close to a fast food salad. Remove celery and use whole pitted black olives. Cut your own romaine. (Seemed to be fancy GFS salad mix) Use your bread to also make baked croutons instead GFS croutons. Use bowls of whipped butter instead of packages of GFS butter, or offer flavored olive oil. Put salad dressing in a separate container to pour on the salads. Offer hand shaved Parmesan instead of Pizza Hut Parmesan Offer a garlic/herb chutney for people to Spice up their sauce the way they like. Your facility and staff present an above level experience. Now you need to get the food and food presentation to that level. read more

We ate last night at Nonno's cellar. Loved the ambience. To drink I got Rhubarb Peach Bellini , it was fantastic, my partner got an old fashion, that wasn't really an old fashion ( bar tender might need more practice on that one). Appetizer we got Breaded Fresh Buffalo Mozzarella Fritta. It was unlike any fritta I have had before. But was hot and tasty. House salad came with our entrees. Salad comes with no cheese, get your dressing on the side. A basket of plain Italian bread with just pads of butter is given to each table. (This definitely needs to be elevated) Entrees my ITALIAN BREADED CHICKEN PARMIGIANA was delicious, no spoon to help twirl pasta. My partner got MAINE LOBSTER RAVIOLI NEWBURG, the ravioli by its self was very good. Just don't think sauce compliments ravioli like it should. Waiter was pleasent. We made reservations which was very nice to do on a busy Friday night. Some people were dressed up and others in regular street clothes. I think they should keep Nonno's cellar an elevated dining and dress, and have upstairs Casa Lu Al regular attire. This restaurant itself is beautiful and intimate, keep it that way. I have been here 4 times now. Trying to give it a chance. Unfortunately it will be a while before I go back. This is not AUTHENTIC Italian. The Alfredo sauce tastes canned. The chicken on 2 occasions was canned shredded chicken. 2 other times it was actually grilled chunks. The bread isn't even garlic bread it's plain and nothing to shout about. The service was acceptable all 4 times but not outstanding. I know they are still only a few months into their opening yet needing much improvement on the food. We bring 5-9 people when we come and it has been a disappointment all 4 times. I hope they really put some effort into their recipes! I had a 2/7/25 @4:45 PM dinner reservation at Casalual on a Friday night, and the restaurant was not busy at all. Despite this, my experience was nothing short of discriminatory. Blatant Discrimination in Service * I was seated at the very back of the restaurant, even though plenty of open tables were available. * When I politely requested to be moved, the hostess became visibly upset, expressing clear displeasure. Ignored by Staff While Others Were Served Promptly * We waited for 15 minutes at our table without being acknowledged. No water, no greetings, no service--nothing. * Three different servers walked past us multiple times, completely ignoring us--no eye contact, no questions about drinks or orders. * Meanwhile, a new party of two arrived after us and was immediately seated, served water, and had their order taken within minutes. Management's Weak Response * After waiting a total of 17 minutes with no service, my party decided to leave. * I spoke to the manager about the situation, explaining that several servers had deliberately ignored us while other customers were being attended to right away. * The manager only offered an apology and said he would speak to the server, but no real accountability was taken. A Clear Pattern of Racism I have dined at Casalual before they changed locations and was never treated this way. However, after this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant to people of color. The way we were ignored while other white patrons were served immediately is blatant racism. If you are a person of color, take your business elsewhere. I certainly will. read more

Having been a long time diner of the Cas this was my first experience since they opened. Two times attempted reservations even had confirmation for 630 tonight to be told they had nothing and said we didn't hit a correct button. We had a confirmation and snap shot pic. Another method for downstairs reservations needs considered. Waitress was great going over menu suggestions. Drinks didn't arrive until after appetizers were served. Appetizers great & well portioned. Few minutes later the salads came. Timing between appetizers and pre meal salad needs addressed felt rushed to eat both things before meal arrived. Meal was excellent, with exception of meatballs. Gray, no color inside, and cold. These weren't cas meatballs. I'm Italian and no basil, parsley, garlic etc inside. How about cheese on top and broiled i.e. Cas. Drinks were good, dessert being cheesecake and carrot cake were excellent. Overall good experience but room for improvement. read more

A friend suggested we check out Nonno's Cellar. Nonno's Cellar & Casa Lu Al are in the same building & have the same menu. Nonno's doesn't have pizza or sandwiches. Against my better judgment I went. I like to give new restaurants a month or 2 to work out the kinks. So in the future I will edit this. Reservations needed. The peach Bellini frozen drink was delicious but it ends there. The atmosphere is really neat, acoustics were horrible as Nonno's Cellar IS a cellar so hard surfaces do not help deaden sounds. We could not hold a conversation due to the high level of noise. the food was average but unfortunately came out cold to warm for our table of 5. Once again they are working out the kinks. Our table of 5 agreed the bread was just bread. It would have added some flavor if they would bring olive oil & Parmesan . Red pepper flakes & salt & pepper are on the table. Price is average for a nice dining experience. There have been other friends that have gone 4 times & love it. Lima needs this restaurant to succeed because it really is a neat place to hangout. read more
