My brothers birthday is in a few days. It's always important to cherish and celebrate the birthdays…read moreof people who are near and dear to you, so earlier this month I was wondering what I could do to make my brother feel special on his birthday considering he wasn't too keen on going out due to covid still being around. I received a newsletter from the country club, Willow Bend, which I am a member of at the beginning of the month talking about the events they had for the month of September. In the newsletter, they talked about a comedy event they would have at the clubhouse called the St. Patrick's Easter de Mayo Comedy Show. My brother and I both share a love for standup comedies and the event came included with dinner... surf and turf with baked potato and dessert! I called the club and told them of my families unique dietary restrictions and they agreed to change their steak for dinner if I bought tickets. That's nice of them. My brother loved the idea of going as staying in town is low risk compared to going to Lima or Fort Wayne. So I bought tickets. My family, including my mother and brother came in at 5:30 for the dinner part of the event. First course was a house salad. Then the main course was served. As stated before my mother and brother were given chicken and shrimp in lieu of the advertised meal. Their stuffed chicken and grilled shrimp tasted amazing according to them. I had my steak... perfectly seasoned, perfectly made! Loved it! The dessert consisted of different types of cheesecake, I had the chocolate while my family had the cheesecake with raspberry sauce. They loved their cheesecake, mine was good but it was a little too rich for me. The show then began. The opening act was done by Alex Taylor who did a good job of warming up the crowd. I thought it was funny how he made sure to tell everyone that he was a probation officer as he was the only minority in the room (not really my family is too but we don't look it). He gave use some good laughs as the next comedian, Zack Wycuff came onstage. He led off by saying how as he drove in... it was incredibly boring because of all the corn he saw for miles and miles. Which I laughed at because I had made that observation so many times since moving to Van Wert. He then started talking about himself and saying he too knew about law enforcement as he was a former probation officer... which is kind of odd... two cops/former cops turned comedians? Zack also formerly worked security at the Columbus zoo... kind of an interesting career he had. He of course talked about being raised in a strict Christian household... being kind of a nerd (he really was into DARE at school). Making fun of his life the whole time. My favorite bits were the following: In regards to all the corn, he gave the room a pick up line to use in the future. Hey baby, your a lot like the corn I just ate, I would love to see you again in a few hours! Hah! He talked about how he recently broke up with a Wiccan. She was unemployed, didn't drive, had nothing going for her. He said that at one point she told him, hey let's conjure your dead parents. He said no, I don't want you to meet my parents.... ooooohhhh burn! He said that in the relationship he just can't fathom someone who claims they could do magic but their life sucks! I mean don't you think you can conjure up some job prospects? Hah! Totally can relate because I made my own mistake with a witch in the past. The final comedian of the night was Mark Chalifoux. This guy had me in stitches! I laughed so hard, so often with this guy it hurt! First joke, when he said hey so I decided to come like an hour early into town because I haven't been to Van Wert before to see the sights, I had 59 minutes when I was done... lol! His constantly mocking this guy sitting in front of him who was on the phone constantly was hilarious... not sure of the guy understood all the times he was the butt of jokes. At one point he starts talking about Santa Claus and children... and how expensive it is to have your kids take a photo with Santa at his local mall... $40. He asked of course if anyone with kids ever did the whole write a letter to Santa... this lady in the crowd said yes I had my kids do that but the Santa was me. He gave her a deadpan stare and said... lady it's not news to me Santa isn't real... I have known for years now! Your not breaking any news to me. I almost fell out my chair with laughter. There were more jokes I could share but were more risqué in nature... not ones I will put on a yelp review. Amazing time... well worth the $200 I spent including meals, drinks and the show. My brother went home happy... can you really put a price on putting a smile on the face of someone you love and care for on their birthday?

I came here to see a comedian that I found on Tiktok last night and this place is actually pretty…read morenice. It's in the town center at Levis commons which is a nicer outdoor mall located in Toledo. It's buried in the back of the complex near a morgan stanley place and a hotel. Not hard to find if you have an idea of where you're going. Walking in, you have to walk up a flight of stairs and I'm not sure of they have an elevator or not. The main area where you hang out in is a bar and an arcade. It has a bar area with a decent amount of seating. When the doors open, you can walk into the stage area which is actually pretty nice. There is a 2 item minimum to purchase when here. The foods decently priced, but the alcohol is not. I'm not so much of a drinker so that was fine. They also add an automatic 18% gratuity to each bill, fyi. You can pay cash or card, so that's a bonus. I did have two issues when I was here, and the staff handled it wonderfully. The first was they sat me at a table where it was hard for me to see the stage, and I can't say I was a fan. After debating it for a while, I asked the hostess if I could be re-seated at a different location since I wasn't thrilled about it. They were kind enough to put me at a different table which really made a difference. The second issue was after I ordered my required food, the Sprite I ordered tasted funny. I spoke to the waitress and informed her of this and she brought out a new Sprite from a different machine. This one was much better so that helped out as well. Speaking of food, I went with the artichoke and spinach dip with chips, which was actually pretty good. Larger serving size and not half bad. They had what seemed like plenty of servers here, so people were getting their food and drinks in a timely fashion. The show ran on time, and they also have a security guard here in case anyone gets rowdy. Who wants a rowdy heckler? Not me! I really enjoyed my time here and would return in the future for other events.

Great place for stand up comedy AND food. The arcade and bar were very clean and inviting. Ordered the Cheese Curds For appetizer which were very good with a decent marinara For dipping. For dinner ordered the Blackened Salmon. Huge portion of fish which had a good flavor cooked perfectly. The green beans and mash potatoes that came with dish were above average. Def recommend this place for night out.
