Hmm well.... We went to this restaurant for my father in laws 80th birthday. He lives in a small town and this was his choice so ok. I chose a 5 oz sirloin and baked potato sour cream only. Salad bar is not included. My steak was prepared correctly and huge glob of whipped butter on my potato. I removed it and went on with life. The sour cream came in a packet. Our 17 year old ordered a medium rare steak and it was medium well but he survived it. We had a nice visit and that is what's most important. read more

I wish i could give less then on star. Myself and my wife had dinner there last night and what a disappointment. $28 for a steak that was tough, ordered med well as i allways have. Now we had not ate here in a couple of yrs. I dont mind paying good money if its good,it was not. About a third was fat. And heres the kickerit didnt even include a salad, Had to pay extra for that. The food was delivered from the kitchen fast and hot. The steak was slightly overcooked but was good. We didn't take advantage of the salad bar. Also received hot rolls with delicious apple butter. I can't figure out why people go here. The food is subpar, the service is just okay, and it really needs to be updated. I felt like I was walking into a time warp. The food was so bland and having gotten a few different things I had hoped that something would have been good. Definitely not a place I would eat at again. We came to eat at western sizzlin. Wife wanted a bake potato. Who knows how long the pre maid salad's where where sitting on the cafe ice bin. Hardly no choice of topping for salad they charge 50 cent per a small cup of topping for your salad. They only had 4 topping to choice from. My whole family goes to Western every week. They have the best customer service in Lima. They had to remove Salad Bar which most ALL restaurants around here did because of COVID. But they are always very accommodating. Food is ALWAYS cooked to perfection, hot and the best tasting. Their service is exceptional. Everyone is so very kind and friendly. I'm told Western Sizzlin is more of a sit-down-and-enjoy restaurant, but I went the carryout route with a $5.99 coupon. The food was plentiful: sirloin steak tips with onions and peppers, a side (onion rings, baked potato, sweet potato, french fried), a slice of buttered Texas toast, a dinner roll and cinnamon butter. But I naively ordered my tips medium-well, and they were overcooked and a tad bland. The onions and peppers didn't seem sauteed or grilled. Perhaps they were steamed. And the onion rings were soggy. Service was AWSOME. Every one here was very helpful as this was my first time here explaining how things work. The facility appeared clean including rest rooms. I had the Philly steak and cheese, fried pickle spears and a 1 trip salad bar. I was disappointed with the Philly steak and cheese as the steak lacked flavor and was dry. The fried pickles were great and the salad bar was well stocked with plenty of choices. The price was fair. The portions were fair too. Unfortunately something didn't agree with me which makes me wonder what was not right and the reason for only 3 stars, reading about similar experiences makes me wonder. I normally have a cast iron stomach. Next time in Lima I will have to try it again! read more

Thought we'd try it. Both had the prime rib special. When ask what came with it, only one side - both went with a baked potato. I did order a side of sautéed mushrooms. Well, medium rare came out well done - both went back. Second time around they came out more medium than medium rare, but we just went with that. Second time around the mushrooms were sautéed, first time around they were not? Have to say the rolls are very tasty that was served at the table, also liked the Texas style toast that came with the steak and potato. Potatoes were done nicely. Manager on duty came around. I did share with him that we had to send back our steaks back, also the mushrooms actually were sautéed the second time around. This had been the second time he hear of that today! He was going to be looking into that. Menu states "sautéed", so one should expect that. The manager did have the mushrooms removed from the check on our way out. I went here for the first time with my friend. Our waitress was so nice and sweet. The food was great too, I ordered a medium well new York strip. It came out well done, but considering I paid only 13 dollars I was fine with it, it was still delicious! This guy who owns the place is on it ! His staff is on it ! Places like this are few quality is great and servers cooks all involved make a super effort to all work together ! We went to Western Sizzlin for dinner on Friday evening. they took out the buffet and the salad bar. when you go through the line to get a tray and your silver ware they have a bin where they have ice so you can get a milk or juice. they also make pre made salads now. they only have like 4 salad topping which comes in a little cup and they charge you 50 cents each. and there is like 5 different kinds of salad dressing. our bill was over 42 dollars and some change. service was bad and slow. our server got lucky if she got a 3 dollar tip from us. the dinner rolls they bring out to you where so small. that they were smaller than my fist. I would not recommend going to this place again even if they called me to tell me that they would give them a second chance i'd rather get struck by lighting. they even got the wrong steak on the wrong plates has well. while my wife and daughter was eating there salads i had to sit and wait for my dinner. and they also ask you if you want ice cream and the only choice you have is Carmel or chocolate fudge on top of the ice cream. if you plan to go out to eat and you want a salad you want to go to is Golden Corral. read more

The only place in lima I will get a steak. I don't eat red meat much but when I do it has to be western sizzlin. By far best steak I the area and for miles around.
