China Buffet has quite a few really negative reviews and I am not sure why that is. If you are a person who frequents buffets like China Buffet, you should know what to expect. The food isn't Michelin stared by any means, but usually, it isn't bad. If you have eaten at China Buffet and expected a fine dining experience, you were in the wrong place. China Buffet is your typical asian style buffet. Lots of booths and tables in sectioned off areas, two to three (sometimes more) steam tables to keep the food hot, and the typical red, green, and gold color scheme I've come to expect. You can't forget about the tchotchkes that are available for sale at the register! The funny thing is I sometimes get the feeling of being back in China when I walk in to some buffets here in the U.S.. I've been in several restaurants in China that have a similar vibe and feeling. China Buffet in Lima is clean-ish. It does show its age, but it isn't filthy. The staff is very nice and friendly, and they do speak English for those reviews that said they don't. In fact, they speak better English than may Chinese buffets I have been to. The buffet has many of the food options you expect to see on a buffet. Rice, fried rice, lo mein noodles, rice noodles, pepper steak, General Tso's chicken, honey chicken, green beans, egg rolls, sweet & sour chicken, etc., etc., etc.. The food was hot, tasted good, and varied in selection. The food was fresh, and was replenished on a regular basis. All in all, I enjoyed my lunch at China Buffet. If you go to China Buffet expecting world-class food options, staff in penguin attire, and perfect American English, then maybe China Buffet isn't the place for you. Wendy's and McDonalds are just down the street. However, if you are a veteran of Chinese buffets, and can take the good with the not so good, then give China Buffet a try. You may not care for everything but I am sure you will find something to your liking. read more

they made assumptions and charged my 9 yr old as an adult because they said they charge on height.. when my daughter walked up to there line on the wall she was under the line so they charged me for assuming instead of asking her to stand on the wall. is it because I didn't eat and I sat here the whole time , or did they think I wouldn't notice?? kids said food was good. and service was well. just the one lady who made assumptions made the whole experience bad. other than that, all other encourters with other employees were well.. read more

This rundown restaurant is an unbelievable disgrace upon the Chinese community and their cuisine. Multiple full families were able to walk in maskless and were unaddressed about the state mandates to enforce proper PPE attire in any public space. The atmosphere is almost as rundown as a nuke town and is so disappointingly grimy, it'd be almost impossible to fully sanitize even the floors with a standard mop and chemical cleaning solution bucket. The staff would leave out REFRIGERATED products for hours on end, even to the point where the tartar sauce was becoming almost translucent and losing its color. It was so uncomfortable while sitting at lunch or dinner for a conversation, because of the deafening silence in the "restaurant." I almost felt required to whisper on my family phone call because of the last of customer (or lack there of) conversation or music playing in the background. It felt poorly employed, as I only saw at most two separate workers during my hour dining experience. The ONLY two item in this "restaurant" that we felt were up to par with any standards of a functioning restaurant was the mint chip ice cream and the honey chicken, which were both unsurprisingly, served at almost the same temperature. Why do I seek out China Buffets? When traveling, it's usually quick and low cost without being "fast food". Even though it's probably just like fast food. I usually judge these based on the quality, variety and service. The service was good. I wasn't very impressed with the variety. The quality was just so-so. I don't know why some people give them a negative impression, in my opinion this place is just a descent Chinese restaurant. It's just average, they have most foods what the Chinese buffet used to have; like chicken cooked in a different style, rice, streaks, seafood and in a multiple choice of fruits and vegetables. read more

Even despite the very, very limited eating options in Lima, I would still recommend this Chinese food option. Comfortable dine-in seating, many options to choose from, reasonably priced. I don't normally leave reviews, but there is so much hate on the internet, I felt I needed to leave something positive for a well deserving establishment. There is nothing fancy about this place but the food is always delicious. There are so many choices for seafood, chicken, types of Chinese food, soups, desserts, or American fried food. It is affordable for the amount you eat, about $10 per person for the buffet. The service staff is also very nice. read more

I eat here almost every week. The place is usually busy but you have no trouble getting in. I have never waited for a seat. They have fresh food and they work hard filling up the buffet. The servers are nice and hard working too. It's not the best in the region but it's good and you cannot beat the price. Food is available. I have nothing else nice to say. The crab Rangoon had no cheese, the sweet sour sauce was watered down and had more vinegar than sweet. The coconut shrimp was covered in a butter sauce (hard sauce), the stuffed mushrooms were dry and old, the frog legs had no flavor, and the general tso's chicken was so old it was hard as day old fries. Very good food, most of the food is kept fresh and rotated. You seat yourself and waiters should come ask for drinks. Sometimes to get a refill and/or check you might have to flag a waiter down. You also get your own plate and silverware. The restrooms and dinning room isn't the best but the food definitely makes up for it. I eat here quite frequently and I believe it's good for the price and have a pretty decent variety of food to choose from including some sushi, seafood and American food. Worst buffet I have ever eaten at, not to mention the most expensive. The table was filthy and sticky. The food looked like it had been sitting there most of the day, they didn't even bother to stir it. We literally had to pick and choose what food looked remotely edible. Beside recieving our only drinks (refills must not exist there... at a buffet), we didnt not see the wait staff once. I now understand why we were the only ones in the restaurant. We had been there a few times and enjoyed it, so when a special little girl told me she wanted Chinese while out on our yearly shopping trip I took her here with great expectation. During the 20 minutes we were there, we witnessed a young (18-21) waitress flat out smack the owner at least 4 times, scream at her in Chinese several times and the owner did nothing to stop her. My 7 year old niece was so scared she was shaking and begging me to get her out of there. We barely got to eat the food which was not very good, paid $18+ and walked out hungry. Then shortly after, while in Big Lots she began crying and clenching her stomach talking about how bad her it hurt! We had look forward to this day for quite awhile and never did we expect to see what we were forced to watch while trying to enjoy a meal! We are remembering the owner in our prayers... but she needs to realize that when Jesus said we are to turn the other check... allowing someone to flat out abuse us in this way was not what He was going for! It would be foolish for her to allow this to continue at all, let along on the floor of her restaurant! read more

This place sucks. The noodles are dry and sushi is gross. There was a rumor/theory going around that all these China restaurants in Lima are the owners of 1 family just for money. I'm not saying if I believe it or not. My aunt said she thought she has food poisoning there. Health department, if you read this, please visit this place.
