The best friend wontons EVER!! - A white foam plate holds several fried dumplings arranged in a circular pattern around a small cup of soy sauce. The dumplings are golden brown and appear crispy. The plate is placed on a textured surface, with a water bottle partially visible in the top right corner and a piece of paper or napkin on the left side.

I get them every time I come here. The gen tsao is usually good, but can be a bit crunchy for my taste. Bourbon chicken is amazing, it could only be better with actual bourbon my husband is addicted to the orange chicken. The staff is so friendly and even if an order is messed up no matter if it's my fault or theirs they will remake it . It's so hard to find that kind of customer service

They're always friendly. My dad always wants the same thing, pepper steak, fried rice and an egg roll. He said he thinks tonight's was the best he's ever had from them. My mom and I like to try something new. I picked three random dishes and we were happy with all of them. The lemon chicken was not what we expected. We thought it would be like orange chicken except with lemon. It was not but it was spectacular! I also ordered shrimp cashew as a new but safe option. My mom loved it too. The final dish I ordered was the Dragon & Phoenix. I've wanted to try it but am always hesitant in case I didn't like it. It was really good. The only thing I didn't like is the menu says it's shrimp over bok choy but there was no bok choy in the dish. And I love their general tso's chicken that comes as part of it. People who like spicy may not like it as much. This restaurant's food that's marked spicy isn't. (Except mapo tofu, you've been warned!). Overall, a great dinner. Also, they had been charging a 3% fee for using a card so I made sure to get cash out. When someone paid with a card while I was waiting they didn't mention the fee. I hope that means it's not done now.

There was one older woman at the cash register who was to seat guests, take money, get the to orders taken care of and answer the phone. The latter due to the volume of takeout orders took precedence over seating people standing in line who were ignored and there were empty tables. After almost 40 minutes of standing and a group of 8 who had reservations that the restaurant wasn't set up for-it was a mess and a bad experience for them...we were seated. We weren't waited on for awhile as there were only two people waiting tables bringing out one dish at a time to the tables. They put out a bowl of rice that sat before their food came. Customers were angry and two stood and complained loudly at the service...a woman waiting for carry out was there for two hours! We received our bland food, cold appetizers after 8pm. Some customers waited and then got up and left before their meals arrived. They ended up setting the party of 8 by the entrance door and bathroom...I'm not sure if my family would be returning or not when they are empty of customers. Our waiter kept complaining that the customers were complaining to us...

Probably helped in no small part by the lack of those dimsum trolley/carts that are pushed into your face as you're trying to enjoy what's on your table. If I had to pick just one, the Hung Sai Gow would be the star of the meal. The shrimp and cilantro filling were densely packed like a meatball; it was both hearty and bursting with flavours! We purchased another serving to go and it was a purchase well made. The turnip cakes is always one of our evergreens and this did not disappoint at all! The egg tarts were the least photogenic of the lot, looking pale and under-baked, but thankfully it tasted better than it looked. It was nothing to write home about, however with nothing to complain about either. The oddity, if we may so, for us was the sponge cake. We were curious and decided to try that on a lark. It was mildly sweet, very very bouncy and airy, and felt it must have been steamed instead of baked. We took it home and had it with our afternoon chai/milk-tea. It was delish. Actually we purchased one more to go so we were "blij ei" as the dutch would say! And oh, the mango pomelo shake was really good and I would highly recommend it (if you enjoy mangoes). The service was prompt and friendly, and the ambiance was calm and relaxing. I would definitely go back!

When I walked in the atmosphere was great, I could smell good food and heard conversations. There's a large area with large round tables to right and to the left are booths and almost all of them were full. The menu was a mix of Americanized Chinese, traditional Chinese and included Dim Sum as well. There were a number of dishes we didn't know much about and there were dishes being enjoyed by other customers that looked delicious. The wait staff was more than happy to explain the dishes and/or show us on the menu what someone was eating. They took very good care of us and shared the tasks of bringing our food, filling water, and just checking in. Now the food. The food came out very quickly! We all received a well filled bowl of rice. First out was the string beans, perfectly cooked, not droopy, and the flavors of garlic and hot peppers. Even though the peppers were there the heat was not overpowering at all. Next was the shredded pork with garlic sauce. The textures of the pork and bamboo shoots were a nice contrast and the sauce was perfectly balanced and craveable. The special grilled lamb, I was told, was some of the best in the city. It was tender and well spiced. Even when he said he was full he just couldn't stop eating it. For the dim sum order we got the shrimp dumplings, soup dumplings, scallion pancake, and sesame balls and they brought a soy sauce and a chili oil with them. The shrimp dumplings were tender but the dough was pretty sticky. I think this is normal and they were tasty with some of the oil on them. The scallion pancakes were very thin and gummy, this is the only thing we ordered that I would not get again. The soup dumplings were very small but packed a lot of flavor. The dough did stick together a bit so unfortunately some of the soup did leak out. The sesame balls were the hit and we're just the right amount of sweetness that we considered them desert. They were large, at least 2" in size, with a wonderful sesame seed covered exterior and a soft, sweet center. Chuan Jiang Hao Zi is a wonderful somewhat hidden gem. If you want traditional Chinese cuisine including all the different offal they have it and I would totally try it here over anyone else if I was brave enough. Portions were a good size for the price. I highly recommend checking them out!

My mom still loves their Won Ton Soup and claims it is the best in this area. She also loves the fried sweet extras they provide as a side. I try to avoid fried anything, but take my mom's word that it's good. This most recent visit, I ordered two Phoenix and Dragon entrees for carryout. This dish is supposed to include chicken and shrimp as protein in addition to vegetables. Speaking regarding my entree', there were maybe four shrimp and the rest was chicken and vegetables. I will say that it was fresh and overall good quality, but the portion of shrimp was very skimpy and the chicken was very thinly sliced- like the restaurant was trying to maximize every penny. After my mom finished her leftovers, her comment was that she didn't want to order from this restaurant for a while. It seems to be very hit or miss these days.. I miss the consistency of great dinners from years ago. I realize that everything is more expensive these days and don't mind paying extra, but I do mind if the extra paid is not met with commensurate quantity and quality. I can't say that I'll hurry back here, which I'm sorry to say. The ambiance remains nice, but doesn't really matter with a takeout order.

It was not crowded when we arrived around 2 pm, but apparently they just recovered from a huge opening rush that had people waiting to be seated. On one side of the restaurant there's hot pot tables (burner in the middle for your broth), and the other side is regular wooden table for people that want regular dishes and/or dim sum only. We got seated right away at a hot pot table because we wanted to get stuff from both menus. There daily dim sum offering is on a separate paper menu that you mark down how many servings you want of whatever tickles your fancy. Our server Kwan was fantastic! This was my parents first time for hot pot, and he did a great job explaining the process, what the sauce bar was all about, and how to order from their dim sum menu. We picked their mushroom broth, which I liked. For protein, we got the Supreme Beef & Lamb Combo for hot pot. Meats were displayed on a separate board (beef on one end, lamb opposite). Loved the assortment of veggies that come along; also liked that those veggies are served separately from the meat so it makes it easier to pick and choose what you want to eat. It was a super fun experience. I've done hot pot one other time many years ago, and I would make the same one suggestion for here, too: Wish there were dividers given to put in the broth to make it easier to ascertain which items are yours after dropping them in the liquid; it's hard to keep an eye on your very-thin beef shaves because it sinks before floating and easily gets pushed and mixed around. The dim sum was absolutely delicious! I got a few of the same things I got on my last (1st) visit, and shared a few new dishes. Their Black Truffle Siu Mai were excellent! Fantastic mushroom flavor, and each were big and filling. I highly recommend those, mmmm. Also loved the Crispy Minced Pork Dumplings! A thin fried outside around a bao-like wrapping, with minced pork and I think Kwan said mushrooms. I think Coco's is a new favorite. Their menus are full with a lot of flavors and dishes to pick from. Their prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. There's plenty of free parking, and in my experiences, staff are friendly helpful and efficient. I'll definitely be returning to try more!
