So great. Cheap meal, and super delicious. Come for lunch, you'll enjoy. Get the general Tso lunch special, 5$. Got the general Tso, very good. Come here every few weeks and am never disappointed. The owners are so kind as well.

We've eaten here twice this summer because my hubby doesn't like the Chinese buffet in town.

I've wanted to try the Hainan House for years. I've read their good reviews and made it a must…read moretry. I will say that these reviews led me to believe that the Hainan House provided a premium-gourmet product like Han Dynasty and Wu's Chinese. Hainan isn't in that top tier where the product WOWS you. But rather, Hainan is in that next tier down where some things are better than others. I ordered take out versus dinning in. The two elderly employees I interfaced with were very kind and helpful. The facility is easy to find as it is in the same complex as The Clyde. The building is older, in good repair and nicely decorated with Chinese decor (see pictures). Parking surrounds the building in an awkward manner - you will figure it out. The menu is very large (see pictures) as it is at most Chinese restaurants. Prices were fairly reasonable. My order was prepared quickly..so no waiting! The fried pot stickers were fairly standard compared with other Chinese restaurants. Not over cooked. Slightly oily. Tender wrapper and pork insides. It came with a dip that added flavor and moisture. The General Tso's sauce was very tasty. It was moderately thick, slightly sweet, a little spicy and stuck to the breading nicely. Nice taste without being sappy sweet or spicy hot! The chicken pieces were larger than bite size. This made it difficult to eat as I had to cut each piece into small enough pieces to eat with the rice. I found the chicken to be somewhat over cooked and slightly tough. The breading was thick and absorbed the seasoned sauce taste perfectly. The Happy Family sauce was very bland. It coated the meat and vegetables nicely keeping them moist. However it really didn't do much to accent these items. The vegetables were nicely cooked with a slight crisp. I was disappointed in the amount of meat placed in this dish. It felt like I was lucky to get more than one piece of each seafood item. These meats were cooked to expectation - moist and tender. Overall this dish was bland and didn't impress. The white rice was cooked to expectation. Slightly moist. It was easy to pick up with the entree bites. Overall, make sure you understand the product you are getting. I expected a premium product which disappointed me. I might have a different rating if I dined in and selected items that fit the "next tier" level of taste.

There was one older woman at the cash register who was to seat guests, take money, get the to orders taken care of and answer the phone. The latter due to the volume of takeout orders took precedence over seating people standing in line who were ignored and there were empty tables. After almost 40 minutes of standing and a group of 8 who had reservations that the restaurant wasn't set up for-it was a mess and a bad experience for them...we were seated. We weren't waited on for awhile as there were only two people waiting tables bringing out one dish at a time to the tables. They put out a bowl of rice that sat before their food came. Customers were angry and two stood and complained loudly at the service...a woman waiting for carry out was there for two hours! We received our bland food, cold appetizers after 8pm. Some customers waited and then got up and left before their meals arrived. They ended up setting the party of 8 by the entrance door and bathroom...I'm not sure if my family would be returning or not when they are empty of customers. Our waiter kept complaining that the customers were complaining to us...

The chicken and vegetables were wonderful but the rice was cold and tasted funny. I told the lady and she took my plate heated it up in the microwave and brought back to me. I did not eat the rice and she still tried to charge me for it. After I said I wasn't paying for it then she took it off. Maybe it was just a bad day with the rice but after that chicken and vegetables I might return.

This is right in between. So fit your expectations to your visit. The facility is located in a strip mall that is easy to get in and out of. The restaurant is fairly large and clean. It has matching Chinese decor and is comfortable. The team here helps each other out. Most are not strong English speakers so they come off as a little bit cold and less than friendly. When they serve you...everyone pitches in. When tu are in between meal parts...they are are to stop and get help. The menu is very big and traditional. You will find all the dishes you would expect at a Chinese restaurant. We picked the family style dinner which came with soup, appetizers and an entree per person. This gives a party of 3 or more the chance to share dishes. This isn't very common at most restaurants. The egg drop soup was like you would expect. Full egg taste with a smooth buttery sauce. There were nice pieces of egg white that gave the soup some volume. Very good. The appetizers were just okay. The egg rolls were good. The vegetable filling was nice and fresh. The wrapper was crisp and crunchy and a bit oily. The crab rangoon pieces were okay. The outside was very crunchy and very oily. The filling had a stronger crème cheese taste and less crab flavoring. The battered shrimp pieces were odd. They were thin, not meaty, oily and lacked a shrimp flavor. My party orders the sweet and sour pork, almond chicken and Mongolian beef. The pork and chicken dishes look good. They were very attractive and large in portion size. The Mongolian beef was very good. The beef was moist and soft. It had a mild beef taste and mixed well with the rice. The rices was cooked perfectly. The onions were soft but held there form nicely. They absorbed the beef taste nicely as well! Overall...a good choice. You should give it a try if you are after a middle of the road quality cuisine at a moderate cost.
