Lovely new spot in the former Gathered space in Astoria. Delicious food and a friendly atmosphere. Save room for dessert!

At the time we…read moredidn't notice it, but we went in and ordered a couple cookies as we were just walking by and not from the area and we were curious about the café. Unfortunately, one of the cookies that was ordered, nothing was listed as having chocolate in it, and my wife has issues with chocolate. It is pretty well known that in the food service industry, chocolate and peanuts are one of those things that you should never mess with when it comes to people's intake. The lady I talked to on the phone a day later mentioned that it was vegan chocolate if it made a difference, and quite frankly, I can see where at some level that might make a difference for the dairy, but in the bigger picture, it doesn't make a bit of difference as it is chocolate that is an issue not the dairy. The bottom line is it should've had a label on the shelf tag and it did not. In our opinion, it should even have a listing of the type of chocolate (dark, lite, etc ). As that could have been a hospitalizations worse. Then, at the end of the conversation, the person I talking to was dismissive and just wanted to move on -- clearly not somebody that should be answering the phones if she's not gonna fully listen (even though she said she did) to the very valid concern. She said that there's a recipe book that we could've asked about if we had any concerns. The concern was that there was no listing on the label of the cookie that was on the shelf. Something as simple as "contains chocolate" could have averted this whole situation.

Reviewing the menu, there were lots of yummy things to choose from but ultimately we both could not resist the Lamb shank. I'm sad I didn't take a picture of it. It was so tender and delicious. It came with perfect Basmati rice and a side of eggplant stew that was exquisite! I've never had eggplant stew and it was luscious. I dream to about it all night long. It was quiet, comfortable, music was great; songs we all know but with native instruments and flare. We had house red wine - not a big selection of alcohol, which is fine the food is and should be the star. Our sever (Sorry my old lady brain forgot his name) but the good looking bald guy(LOL) was nice and personable. It was such a great low key dining experience that just made the day even better. I highly recommend this cute place and we will be back- there are a lot more wonderful food to try!

The shredded lamb is rich and flavorful and the chicken and beef were deliciously moist and so good with the tzatziki sauce! Delicious food, fresh ingredients, generous portions, what more can one ask for?…read more Was looking for a quick dinner and this place came across my search. Decided to try a Greek salad, baba ghanouj, lamb gyro, chicken gyro The food here does not disappoint. Everything was incredibly flavorful and fresh. I especially enjoyed the baba ghanouj.

The parking lot can be busy to navigate through with other businesses in this complex but there are spots right at the door if you're just doing a quick pick up. Service has always been friendly and they have a very strict pick up procedure for verification at the pick up order counter - mostly for delivery services but it can get intense during peak meal times. But it looks like they might now have a window dedicated to those services. The restaurant is open and spacious with an open kitchen. The walls are filled with colorful murals and cultural decor and had tables for different group sizes. Our favorite is the Lamb Gyro and they PILE ON the meat! Also we love the round crinkle cut Greek fries (it's usually not super crispy for take out so we just heat it back in the air fryer) but we always get the spicy garlic sauce and the feta cheese toppings. I tried the Baba Ghanouj this time but it was too acidic for me...but the pita bread that came with it was nice and fluffy though. Come try this local business (they have a few other locations) when you have a craving for Mediterranean food and you won't be disappointed with the portion size or taste!
