But then you open the magical door and it looks amazing. It's very clean and simple but decorative with colorful murals at the same time. We had the 1/2 lb hangar steak with chimichurri sauce and it comes with rosemary salt. The hangar steak was tender and the grill marks and grill taste was savory and Smokey. We also had snacks: 3 for $10. We ordered the chickpeas, marinated olives, and cucumber and radishes. The chickpeas, oh my goodness I don't know what they did with it but it was crack. Beautifully flavored and nice and light like a chip and not like a chickpea. Ciudad is almost like a speakeasy in that it's hidden behind a door of what looks like a butcher shop. The murals and the decor give the restaurant a really nice funky, vibrant vibe. The drink menu is darn good - try the spicy carrot margarita. It's a tapas restaurant so you should order a bunch of dishes to try. The cauliflower is delicious but a bit sweet. Halumi is hellagood. I would say the patatas bravas is a bigger dish so beware it doesn't fill you up - that being said, it definitely hits the spot. Brussels sprouts - fantastic. Protein: try shrimp and hanger steak (you can get three different sauces for dipping). This is the epitome of hidden gem. Light industrial area seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Small external space with a grill and bar space. And then you step through the doors into a delightful atrium space with lovely art and seating. Food was delightful, decor was tasteful, and the service was spectacular. After grabbing a flight from Jellyfish Brewing, we walked over to Ciudad looking for a delicious, late afternoon bite to eat. We decided to go with Ciudad and settled into a spot outside on a gloriously sunny day. Since we weren't terribly hungry, we decided to get the fava bean falafel, a quarter pound of the vegetable mix with dukkah, a quarter pound of the moruno spiced hangar steak and a quarter pound of the merguez sausage. The falafel was refreshingly different - one bite and the earthy green interior of the falafel would reveal itself. The green tahini and smoked yogurt were perfect complements to the falafel. The vegetable mix with dukkah was so tasty - nicely spiced with tender broccoli, onion, mushrooms and more. The hangar steak was quite flavorful and a touch rare, just the way I like it. And the merguez sausage was scrumptiously gamey. Personally, I think this is a perfect amount of food for a light and late lunch. Figuring out quantities was a little tricky tho - we ended up ordering 1.5 pounds of meat for 3 of us and we had a lot of leftovers, which I didn't mind because everything we ordered was fabulous - from the appetizers (potato bravas and the lamb riblets) and a meat platter of succulent shrimp, pork collar, chicken with various sauces and some Flatbread. Everything was seasoned and cooked well, sauces were great tho you pay extra for them and loved the fluffy flatbread! Cuidad recently re-opened for dine in and it has been on my list for quite a while now - I've been dying to try this place! We arrived just after 4 when they opened and were seated on the patio right away. Parking was easy but we noticed as time went by that street spots had filled up. The patio has three tables - a little small, but we are in Georgetown! I had seen a few tropical drinks from past Yelp reviews and was a little disappointed with the selection of specialty cocktails, not seeing some of the flavors like mango or guava. I saw another table order a round of beet margaritas so I was inspired - and it did not disappoint! It was a great blend of the reposado and beet flavor, and so pretty to look at! We started with the flatbread and dip trio. The flavor and texture of the dips, especially their baba ghanoush, was on point. The flatbread was soft and tasty. I also ordered the hangar steak flatbread sandwich with chimichurri which was amazing! The steak was perfectly browned on the outside and pink on the inside. I put some of our remaining hummus from our trio on it and ate the whole thing. I was so eager to eat the food that I didn't get photos of our meal. 4/5 stars because we did have some issues with our server remembering to bring out things we asked for and our checks. I know they're getting acclimated to being open during COVID but we did end up at the restaurant longer than we were planning because of inefficiency. And our patio table was a hot commodity - there was quite a line of folks waiting to be seated. I can't believe how long it took me to get here. I've had Ciudad bookmarked for a while since I've moved to Seattle. I finally got a chance to come down here when we met up with a friend who was staying in Tacoma. We got there around 5:45 PM. Parking is street parking, and the area is pretty shady. Street parking wasn't too bad on a Wednesday night, but I could see it being more crowded in the weekend? We got in and got seated right away. It smells amazing especially with the grill outdoors. Our friend showed up, and we ordered the brussel sprouts, the dip and pita bread (all 3 - hummus, another yogurt based dip, and baba ganoush), lamb & beef meatballs, .25 lb of the chicken, .25 lb of the steak, and 3 of the sauces. Everything came out in good time. The brussel sprouts were AMAZING and the fried carrots were a good touch. The dips... dear god. Every single one of those was so good. They used Elleno's Greek yogurt and the mix with burnt honey was fantastic. The meatballs were done very well. I love the shishito peppers as well. The meats were fantastic. The steak didn't even really need any extra sauce. It had so much flavor. The chicken was good, but I would probably get something else next time. I definitely want to try the chorizo and the octopus next time. I would skip the black garlic aioli, but keep the red sauces we had (one had samba and was fantastic. It had a nice kick) Service was super friendly and just awesome in general. Our waiter was hands down one of the best waiters we've ever had. Extremely solid, at times outstanding. As other Yelpers mentioned, the cauliflower is amazing and the steak is really really good. Rare, tender, very flavorful. It's nice that they offer 3 different sizes/portions. For me, the rub was a tad bit overpowering, maybe too salty? Edges of meat were a bit too much, but when I ate a center piece,....it was perfect. Chimmichurri sauce was too oily/liquid for me, but good. The apricot sauce was really really sweet, good but not perfect. Hummus, baba ganoush and yogurt dips were all very nicely done; bread was excellent. The potatoes bravas are a conundrum - first place I ever had that dish was amazing; still my favorite. I'll eat them elsewhere and these were fine but I'm tainted. The tomato salad was excellent; seasonal variety of tomatoes, nice, light, elegant but flavorful dressing. The falafel was also very good; as others have noted, the bright green-ness inside is stunning (forgot to photograph, doih!!). Good dish, but with all of the other food, I could have done without. But it was fun to combine falafel with the humus/baba ganoush. About the sauces - others complained about them being pricy. They kind of are pricy, it would be nice for Ciudad to find a compromise; have a sauce or too (especially something a little spicy and reddish) on table and then offer some up for a price. Or, I think most restauranteurs would just decide which sauce is best for each dish (steak in our case) and include the sauce, add a $ or 2 to prices,.....or some similar/combo model. They only brought our 3 special sauces when steak came, by design; and the steak was our last dish. I would have experimented with sauces on other dishes had they arrived earlier (note to self, request sauces earlier; note to Ciudad - you may sell more if you deliver sooner and suggest using sauces on multiple dishes). Can't believe I had never heard of this gem so near my neighborhood! A very fun vibe, with the big metal door separating the front from the dining area, which was industrial with touches of cozy. The food is tapas style, and we were hungry and wanted to try everything, so we definitely ordered too much, but it was very good. What a hidden gem in Georgetown! Grilled meats and flatbread, what not to like. Also, as good as the meat and bread is it might even be overshadowed by how delicious their veggies are. I have been SLEEPING on Ciudad. For some reason, I've had this place bookmarked for quite some time. I'd look through my bookmarks to find somewhere to eat, and I either wouldn't see it on my list, or glazed over it completely. Well, not anymore! I rediscovered it in my list while I was looking for places to take my mom on her birthday. TL; DR. Go. Eat. At. Ciudad. First, COVID stuff...outdoor seating with about 7ish tables. Longer tables separated by plastic partitions. Walk-ins only. So I suggest going during off hours or early for tables, as I could see them filling up quickly. Everyone wore masks and gloves and request that guests wear masks unless actively eating. Overall, I felt pretty safe dining outdoors here. Now the FOOD: We ordered the CAULIFLOWER. Okay, I'll be first to admit that the paler cousin of broccoli (only kidding) is not my favorite vegetable but I've come to appreciate it recently and thought I had to see what all the hype was about. Did not disappoint. Crispy, salty exterior. Soft interior. Tangy-ness from the vinaigrette and sweetness from the date syrup and apricots. Then the crunch from the nuts. This dish surprisingly hit all the notes and I was throughly impressed. TOMATO SALAD. The perfect freshness to cut into some of the bolder flavors of the other dishes. But do not think this is just a palate cleanser. The "everything" crumbs make this an addictive dish in its own right. SEARED HALOUMI. I can't read "haloumi" on a menu and not order it. So we did. Exactly what I wanted. Seared and salty and delicious. With a strawberry relish for some tartness. Corn for sweetness. And couscous for texture. FLATBREAD. Because hello, carbs. How else was I going to finish the sauces?? (See below). HANGER STEAK and OCTOPUS. Listen, you can see them grilling as you walk in and the smell tells you that you're in for something good. The steak was tender and perfectly cooked. The octopus had a wonderful char while also remaining, well, tender (I'll update with a new adjective in the near future). And on the recommendation of our server, ordered the chimichurri, harissa, and tomato sambal to enjoy our proteins with. They're all good. TASTY TASTY TASTY! So glad to finally get in to Ciudad. We stopped in on a saturday afternoon around 15:00; no crowds, queues, or wait times. We were warmly welcomed inside and seated right away. Ciudad had a great atmosphere and good tunes were playing in the background. Our server was very friendly and gave us great advice on what to select, as this was our first visit. The kale salad and bread w/ dips x3 were great appetisers to start off our dining (see the pics). Everything was fresh and oh so good! We shared some grilled meats for the main: chicken and pork shoulder. I asked the server about the waitlist and what time it starts to get crazy busy. Hands down one of my very favorite eats in the Greater Seattle Area! I can't say enough good things about this place and am so happy they're operating during COVID. Ciudad does everything right. I love that you can decide how much of each protein (the chicken and steak are musts!). The patatas bravas and roasted corn are very tasty and great compliments to whatever you get as well. If you've never been before, do yourself a favor and get all of the sauces to try! My favorites are the smoked yogurt and burnt honey...and the garlic aioli. Don't forget flatbreads to dip and make mini sammies! Service is always friendly and prompt- you can tell they're working hard! I once brought a bottle of wine and was a little unsure of how they'd react (very mixed reviews on this) but the guy explained that he appreciates when people bring a special bottle to enjoy with their food and likes learning the story behind it. We almost walked past because the entrance kinda looks like you're walking into the kitchen but we're glad we didn't let that deter us. Visited with a group of 8 friends on a Sunday afternoon with a reservation and even though a couple of us were late, they still seated the party-- win! They do warn that they only seat complete parties, so I wouldn't take the gamble if you can help it. The restaurant was probably at like 80% capacity but our server (I think named Josh) was so attentive and awesome. Half the group had the Roasted Beet Margarita and the other half had Purple Rain and they were both DELICIOUS! We tried A TON of the different small plates and grilled meats and everything was absolutely amazing.
