We love the pool and the savings!!
Kris N.

Had a wonderful experience working with Jesse. He was a great support throughout the whole time. We saved over 100 grand building this pool ourselves. Would recommend checking this route out over paying a pool company.

Doug B.

Saved around 15k compared to all of the pool companies that came out and gave quotes. Keep in mind, the other companies could have added even more with upgrades. You need to be around while the pool is being built. Many moving parts and it's your project, so you should have an invested interest. As advertised, went to Menifee city and with 15 minutes I had all permits in my hand and ready to start. The next day the excavator "Blackie" came out, measure and made sure he drew the pool out on the ground. Couple hours later it was done! Next day rebar was out because I had money to pay on the spot!!!! They were finished in one day and done. No issue at all. Chuey came out and did all of the plumbing Loved this guy! He's top notch and knows what is needed and what you may need. After that, is was time for gunite and I went with the main guy on the list, it was messy, but easy. While it's wet, make sure you let them know what changes you may have. Check around and make sure back walls and more are good. When it was time for the deck, benches, rock and lighting, we went with Candido to finish all the rest. He has a crew of guys that rock! Literally! He took the project over and went all the way to finsh. Jesse just left today, set up all pumps, heater and apps and now he's gone. Thought start up would be simple, but had to bleed the lines, cut pipes and more. Overall, I would do it again in a minute. Don't fret over silly stuff, each team and group know exactly what to do. If not, ask, but if you are patient enough, you will see it all happen. Make sure to write and sign all communication with subs if you have an add on. If they say they are doing lights, ask how many and where! If you say great and they're thinking 5 and you're think 20, there will be an issue. When building the gate, show them exactly the gate you want. Have them acknowledge what you want and go from there. Well worth the price and craftsmanship is top notch. I would do it again in a heart beat.

Referred over by a co-worker who used program. Jesse was very helpful and responsive to text and calls whenever I needed him. He even did a revised set of drawings for no additional cost because the City said we did not meet permit requirements (eventhough we found out later that the City was wrong and we went back to Jesse's original plan). Process can be intimidating and it can be challenging to remember every detail, but if you stick with it you will have a good result. A different co-worker had a pool built last year using a regular pool company and she said it took them over 4 months to finish. Even with some hiccups and delays along the way, I was able to start filling my pool with water 7 weeks after I pulled my permit from the City, so less than half the time. The subcontractors from Jesse's list were mostly nice and responsive and knew that we were doing this as "owner builder." Initial estimates for our pool design were around $80k due the size (36' x 17') and depth (over 8' on deep end) of the pool. Using this program we were able to have many upgrades including 4 lighted planters, lights on our steps, LED color changing lights in the water, split face stone, 2 waterfalls, 8' spa with spillway, stamped color concrete deck around entire pool, pebble instead of plaster, new backyard gate, 50' long walkway from gate to pool, moved the AC unit to make room for pool equipment, and remove 3 mature trees for about $65K. If you are willing to do some extra coordination and work, I highly recommend this program to have a much nicer upgraded pool built in less than half the time for a much lower cost.

Fantastic experience with Jesse and his build your own pool process! Took about 4-5 months to build but I updated a lot of things. I saved a large amount of $$$ because I was in control of the bids from sub contractors. Jesse makes it easy with is step by step process and his list of proven sub contractors ready to provide you with quotes. The best part is the subcontractors are already familiar with Jesse's process. Certainly recommend giving Jesse a call!

Pool getting filled before landscaping

Overall I was very happy with the services. We had the vision and Jesse drew the plans, got them stamped and provided all the resources to walk step by step through the process. We saved anywhere between 25-40% compared to traditional estimates. Many of the contractors are exceptionally busy and it was difficult getting things scheduled throughout 2020, but in spite of all that we managed to get our pool and backyard done in about 10 weeks. We spent about $80-85k all in which included the pool, over 3000 sq ft of decking, an 80ft retaining wall, a fire pit with seat, and a new driveway.

Would do this 1000 times over. Between the money we saved to the ideas and little custom touches, there is no better way. Jesse was great! Held our hands just enough and also helped to put ideas into play. My backyard is now the best on the block as well as all of my families favorite place hang out. I have a dog ramp, split level Baja reef and added lots of concrete. We added fire bowls, umbrella cups and a love seat in the deep end. But wait!!!! The best part? 51 days from excavation to water!! All on my time schedule. Do yourself and your wallet a favor and do your pool on your terms and your timeline !!!!

Jesse was wonderful in helping create pool plans and bring our visions to light. Initial estimates working through three major pool contractors was 85,000-95,000 for just the pool and minimal decking. However with Jesse's program we were able to save about 30%, and still get additional items that were not in the original estimate. Example: we upgraded to Pebble Tech, stone on the spa wall, upgraded tile, pool equipment. We also got 3,500 square feet of decking, landscaping and a retaining wall for around $65,000. Jesse was very responsive for questions. At the end of the day he's is available as a resource, and it's your job to follow his instructions in the program and execute on the build. He was very transparent on the process since day one. We are very happy with the results and can't thank Jesse enough!

Text message from Jesse after my boyfriend posted a yelp review on behalf of us. Only sent to me, I assume in an attempt to bully/intimidate
Marcea C.

What a joke. I don't take well to bullying/intimidation and Jesse has stated that he was only working with me and not my boyfriend as well, so I figured I would write my own review, especially after receiving the intimidation text message from him in regards to my boyfriend's review (see picture). That text message perhaps explains the lack of negative reviews on here if he bullies his clients into taking them down. To recap our experience with Jesse, it was a waste of time and money. I will use a straight timeline... I apologize in advance for the length, but I want to make sure everything is in here... * March 31st - Met with Jesse, discussed our wants/needs. paid $1250 for him to begin plans *April 2nd - Received Plans via email. I responded that day with questions in regards to the plans since they do not come with a 3D image (apparently that costs an extra $250). Not being a visual person, I had a lot of questions. *April 4th - Still no response to my emailed questions, so I sent a follow-up email. *April 6th - STILL no response to my emailed questions, so I sent a text message asking for a response to my questions. At that point, he sends me an email back with my questions answered. *April 6th, later in the day - The only change in the plans we want is a larger grotto, specified exactly as "wider swim-in grotto with waterfall and seats inside." He responds with "ok" followed by a "thumbs up" *April 7th - Jesse messages saying that there is not room in our budget for a "swim-in" grotto. We then begin thinking of ways that we might be able to make it work. Greg gives Jesse a call and discusses options but gets virtually nowhere. At this point, I just want to know what extra it will cost to see if I can come up with it. It's our dream pool and we are only doing this one time, so if I know it's going to be 2k or 12k more, than that should be our decision to make to increase our budget or not. We then sent a new picture of what we want with the grotto over the spa, thinking it would be cheaper and we'd kill two birds with one stone so to speak (we later come to find out it's not). He responds with a "thumbs up" and "thank you." *April 10th - Jesse texts asking for an update saying he can redraw tomorrow otherwise he will be out of town until the 21st. I advise him that we are still held up on the size of the grotto and ask what the cost in making it bigger would be (see picture). He says it is an extra $550 for engineering detail to the plans, but otherwise, we will stay in budget. WHAT??? Why was this not mentioned the 1st time we asked for the grotto to be bigger????? If he had said ok the first time and redrawn it larger, while still staying in budget, we would have easily moved forward at that point. But instead, he'd claimed it couldn't be done. At this point, we discuss grotto options (bench, no bench, etc.) and I am feeling better, but not enough to pull the trigger that night, so I let him know that we would wait until the 21st. In his response to my boyfriend's review, he says we made a "request to pause." This is where the "request to pause" comes in... we did not choose an 11 day pause on our own accord... it was a choice of either do it now or wait until the 21st... not feeling terribly comfortable at the moment with his attitude and responses, we thought it was best to wait. After he acknowledges that we will wait until the 21st, I finish with a question to ensure that he'd priced in pebble tec and also asked what our back wall would be made of (tile/stone, etc.). I never received a response, that question is still left unanswered. April 19th - Jesse messages that he is back in town and wants to know how we would like to proceed. At this point, we just do not feel comfortable with everything that had gone down. Greg messaged him to let him know that we were not going to proceed. April 21st - Greg posted a yelp review about our disappointment working with Jesse. I then received a text message from Jesse at 9:57 pm claiming that he will not seek damages if he removes that post that night (see picture). He asks what kind of person he would have been if he hadn't warned us about budget increase (I'm sorry, in the end, you said we would still be in our budget with the larger grotto???). Our agreement was always with the two of us, you moved your appointment the first day so that he could be there (see picture). Unfortunately, yelp puts a cap on how long reviews can be (who knew?), so I will end this here. If you are a person that asks questions, go elsewhere. If you are a person who likes timely responses, go elsewhere. If you are a person who does not like to be spoken down to, go elsewhere. If you are a woman who doesn't want to be bullied, go elsewhere (notice he didn't send a message to Greg). Go anywhere, but here. We finally did and we couldn't be happier and cannot wait to be swimming in the grotto!

We were hesitant to take on this project having never had a pool nor managed a construction project. My wife was the one that led this from day 1 through completion with minimal help from me. As with anything there was some stressful moments and slight bumps in the road but nothing major and we've heard worse stories from people that hired an actual pool builder. Jesse's program, if you follow it exactly, will help guide you through every step and keep you from getting overwhelmed. The program gives you great detail through every step including when to schedule inspections and so forth. To give you an idea on cost... our neighbors had a pool built just last year through a pool builder with no automation, very little concrete and no salt system and we were able to build ours almost twice the size with 2 pumps, full automation, Pebble Tec, Salt system and all the concrete redone in our entire backyard for only $5k more. If we had to build another pool, we'd follow Jesse's program again. He was very helpful through every step and always answered my calls and texts promptly.

I have never been more disappointed or shocked by a contractor. He requires a hefty down payment of $1,250 just for the initial consultation. That's fine it applies to the total project which is okay. But once he gets that his entire demeanor and customer service changes. He sent us a plan for a pool spa and grotto. When I tried to call and talk to him about the size of The grotto, he became very irritated. Long story short he did not want to change a single thing in the plans and was irritated with me trying to find a way to do so. If you think you will have questions during the process it will not go pleasant for you. I am in sales myself, and had to use my skills of d-escalation to calm him down for asking what we can do to make The grotto bigger. Apparently even starting that conversation is off limits. In the end we are gladly paying another company more money just for peace of mind. of course yes we know what type of buyers we are and that we would have questions. We let him know in the consultation that we will be doing that. He reassured us that that is okay. Of course once he got his money, all of that changed. When I messaged him to let him know we were going with another contractor. Jessie responded "Ok I think that is best." Most of Jesse's reviews are good, and unfortunately we ignored the other ones like this one. If you know you're going to have any questions or might possibly want to make a change. I do not feel like this is the guy for you. Please be careful.

When I started this process I was getting bids for 100k-110k that didn't include landscaping or artificial turf. I was able to get all of this with the contractors I used for just under $70k. Jesse helped me every step of the way. Anytime I had questions he got right back to me. Ultimately I ended up with a pool that is exactly what I want and being able to control every step of the process ensured that. It also allowed me to have in completed in just 65 days. I highly recommend City Ready!

Had a great experience using this program. Not only did Jesse do a great job on the initial design, permit package, and explain-the-process type stuff, but he was available for a quick call or text from start to finish. Trust me, this is the most valuable part of the entire program. Several times during the project I needed to consult with someone who knew what they were doing and had my interests in mind, and Jesse was always responsive. At the end of the day, I figure we saved 25-35% going this route. That being said, that doesn't mean it was cheap. One thing you'll find out quickly is that parts and labor are expensive right now, but just remember how much you'd be spending if you didn't go DIY! Also, I'm writing this mid-2022 and pool subs are still REALLY busy. Be prepared to have people not call you back, not show up for bid appointments, etc... Just stay persistent and you'll be fine. Ask subs if they know other subs who do good work. They almost always will, and the more contacts you have the better. My biggest piece of advice is that while anyone can GC their own pool build, don't think that means it's hands-off. You will be busy. Busy meeting with subs, inspecting their work, meeting with inspectors, looking at tile, stone, pool finishes, etc... And... the more complicated your project is, the more hands-on you need to be. Subs do pretty well with cookie-cutter straightforward instructions, but once you go "custom" or start wanting things to look a very particular way, you need to be there to make sure it happens. Subs are notorious for not writing down anything you say and forgetting details. In fact, every sub I worked with forgot something I said and started to do something different before I caught it. When possible, show them pictures of what you want, and for the detail work, stick around to make sure it's done the way you want it. And lastly, enjoy the process. I loved being able to create my own dream pool just the way I wanted it. It's a very rewarding feeling and If I had to do it all over again, I would in a heartbeat!

The process may seem intimidating at first, but Jesse made it easy to understand and follow. He's with you the entire way. Best part was his communication. He always responded quickly and came out to help if I had any doubts. His recommended contractors did an excellent job and you can tell they enjoy being on Jesse's list. Advice: ask each one along the way for recommendations. You never know what new design they might add to your ideas.

My wife and I were looking forward to working with them as they had great ideas. We were having a huge rock pool built and a bbq kitchen and 2 fire pits once the 3d drawing was approved demo stared. We had just had all the concrete stained so demo guy was supposed to use the back road as instructed but did not he decided to use the front and ruined all the stained concrete so Alfredo Carls partner that knows all how to build the pools said he would re stain it for free. I thought great that's awesome and was pleased with that response. Originally the back yard world be done in February but with all the rain it slowed us down a little then it went to June 1st it's now June 27th and it's still not done and 95% paid for. The rock crew suggested a s shape slide after looking at it and Carl asked me so my exact words " as long as it's safe" well to say the least we had 2 people almost fly out of the slide. I texted both of them videos and Carls response was "not my problem" then to top it all off they forgot to run All the wires for the my lights I had on my post so they had to cut out slots all over the rock. They attempted to fix the slide and it looks like garbage. Carl responded with sorry Alfredo and I or no longer partners you can take it up with him since he's trying to finish your project. Alfredo is a good man and is trying to make it all right but Carl is something else and won't own up to anything. It's costing me $9,000.00 to repair all the rock they didn't do correctly!!!! Unfortunately my lawyer is now involved as I'm a contractor and know all my rights and he did everything against the law and code he even asked for $45,000.00 for a deposit instead of the 10% or $1,000.00 whatever is less per CSLB I would never recommend Carl on anything he only came to the job a very small handful of times and out stop payments on some of the contractors checks so they stopped coming to finish what they started they left trash all over the place food beer cans etc.

We are having to get a lawyer. They originally quotes us $29k then it came out to $42k. He…read moreextorted money from us half-way doing a project and refusing to continue until we kept coming up with more money. The crew wouldn't show up for weeks at a time and thrashed our back-yard. This is all documented with emails, phone call records and texts. I also have pictures of the trash the crew left. The heater never worked, they spray painted parts of the filtration but charged us for replacing. The one of the actuators is missing, the unit came with two, they installed one and kept the other. Then to boot they built our slide into the neighbors yard and after three months of trying to get them to fix it, they came and attempted to fix it but it is still not done correctly. There are cracks and the paint does not match. They left concreate in the drain and the system is not (salt water) making chlorine. His excuse is that he "isn't doing pools anymore" and that he is injured and stopped responding. Anyone else use them and want to sue.... message me.
