    Buffalo Chicken Pizza

Amazing halal pizza! This is one of the best slices I've had hands down. We tried the pepperoni and the Buffalo chicken and both were hot, crispy, and fresh. The halal bacon was perfectly caramelized and the bread was well leavened and baked. If I'm ever in the Hartford area again I will most definitely make a detour to grab a pie again!

Get delivery! Don't pick up! What you can't see, won't hurt you. After I moved my son back into school, he and his roommates wanted some pizza and this place had littered the campus with flyers. So they ordered and I picked it up. Big mistake. Someone needs to take a broom and a mop to the floor. After which they can start wiping down the counter, tables and chairs. Travel time to this place was about 10 minutes and my wait time once I was there was about 20 minutes and they were empty. The pizza was fine but I'm sure there are other fine pies in Hartford that are cleaner and quicker.

I've been ordering from here for over 10 years. One of my favorite local pizza places. Thinner style with a crunchy smaller crust.

City pizza has a wonderful pizza! Forget those fussy haters - this is the real deal!

If City Pizza were available at Ellis Island to all entering America at the beginning of the 20th century, I'm convinced we'd all have less strife and more to be happy about. I couch my experience this way because after driving several hours in the snow last month from Washington, DC, we stumbled into City Pizza, cold, tired and hungry. The pizza that was created was so wonderful as to bring tears to my eyes. Garlic, feta, basil, amazing crust and sauce. The other comments are astounding because we do not have this level of quality pizza anywhere in the DC area. Hartford-ites; be thankful for what you have and appreciate the quality and goodness you have in City Pizza!

Amazing Zabihah pizza. Get the barbecue chicken pizza and thank me later. Honestly top 5 halal pizza places in all of America. This joint is popping!

Hole in the wall pizza spot. Good prices and even better customer service. Pizza was good but didn't care for the garlic bread. It was a bit over baked. It's located along a strip of a few other places so parking is very limited. First time here and it served its purpose since I needed something quick to eat. If I ever come to the area again, I wouldn't mind grabbing some pizza from here again. Never had any any hole in the wall pizza place offer to bring the food to the table and even said we can pay after the meal. I appreciated the customer service from the man that assisted us over everything else. There are about 3 or 4 pizza spots in the same area but I would say this is a good one to try.

    This pizza is gross.

This pizza is gross. See the picture. That's what they gave me when I ordered three pieces. The pizza was not fit for human consumption.

Ordered Pizza. It arrived with burnt crust and burnt pepperoni. It was almost inedible, but when starving even bites of charcoal can do.

The place looked spacious and with a lot of light, it looked clean and they seemed to have a nice selection of wines (for those that like it) , they were displayed for people to see, which I thought looked very nice. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and I found it odd that there was only 1 restroom for the size of the restaurant. Our waiter was nice, he took our order and we were excited. The food took a VERY long time, we were starving, and we had kids with us so that wasn't good. Some of our orders were wrong and so unfortunately we had to wait even longer for the right meal. We didn't order alcohol but we did older a couple of mocktails. I was SUPER excited for them because that's something I always appreciate at a restaurant. I'm sad to say that they were AWFUL!! straight up syrup, not bubbly (some were supposed to have soda in them) not sweet, simply not enjoyable at all, I ended up switching it for a simple club soda, I figured it was a safe bet. When my food came out, it was ok, I had the avocado toast, and it was forgettable, my sister had the chicken and waffles and now THAT was the meal to get, it was large in portion and that chicken was beyond tasty!! My other sister has the lomito sandwich with the chips and it was good, something missing but she enjoyed it. The rest of the food were burgers and they were ok, the kids had burgers and Mac and cheese and they were not tasty according to the children's disinterest in barely touching their food (and they love cheeseburgers). I'm always willing to bypass certain things as long as customer service delivers BUT unfortunately they fell short. We were celebrating an engagement and so we were all very happy and in a great mood, when suddenly workers around us were cleaning up the neighboring tables, and even sweeping very close to us. We thought the place was possibly closing? (Even though it was only 2:15pm). I asked if they were closing and they said that they close the restaurant from 3-4 so their employees can go eat .... I'm not against giving them a break BUT, it really felt like they were kicking us out, we felt pressured to eat fast and wrap it up, not a good feeling, when you are in the zone of happiness. It was our first time there so, I would have appreciated if they would have informed us that the restaurant takes a little break in between and then we would have decided if we wanted to stay or go elsewhere. They did bring a little dessert and 2 mocktails for the newly engaged which was nice, I'll give them that. Overall, I don't think the food and experience was worth me coming back or recommending this place, I'm sure there's other much better places.

New York Gyro serves the Hartford area as one of the only, if not the only, halal gyro cart in the entire Central Connecticut area. There are other restaurants where you can buy and dine on gyro, but this is the only one on small non-drivable wheels. And let's be honest, there is a specialness to buying from a cart. The quintessential cart serves street food that adds another level of flavor that is quite hard to find anywhere under a roof. New York Gyro does not disappoint. They offer sandwiches and platters over rice or salad. I recommend trying their chicken and lamb gyro platter over rice. The white sauce hits the spot and is on the more tangy side. The platter includes a drink for $8. The portion is large and is hard to beat for the price and taste. Service is quick and the food is always satisfying. Street parking can be found nearby. The space is absolutely beautiful: modern, bright, and spotless. The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out piping hot. They bring each dish out as it's ready instead of all at once, so keep that in mind if you like everything served together. Personally, I didn't mind because it just meant my soup was perfect when it arrived, and my son's appetizer followed shortly after. I didn't check out the bathrooms this time, but judging by the rest of the restaurant, I'm sure they're just as immaculate. Black Bamboo is the only Chinese food I'll eat, period. If you know me, you know I'm picky, and this place never disappoints. Every bite tastes fresh, the service is friendly, and the vibe is always calm and inviting. Over the years I have had everything on the menu, and I've never had a bad meal. My personal favorites: the egg rolls, scallion pancakes, hot and sour soup and their fried rice, which I honestly think is the best in the world, period. My son is all about their beef teriyaki and it's his go-to every single time. This is exactly the kind of place where you can try something new and know it's going to be good. I recently ordered the chop suey and egg foo young for the first time ever, and both were fantastic. If you've been curious to branch out, this is where you want to do it; you can't go wrong. Also, they have real duck sauce for a small upcharge. Not just stuff in the packet (yuck). So if you're craving Chinese food in West Hartford, go to Black Bamboo. They recently opened a new location on Farmington Ave in West Hartford, but this spot is east of the old location. The new digs are nice inside. The dining room is not huge, but it's roomier than the old dining room. You still order at the counter even if you're dining in. Over the years, most of my food orders probably fall within the 4.25 Star to 4.5 Star range for a takeout type Chinese restaurant. Occasionally, they'll dip a bit lower or soar a bit higher. My General Tso's Chicken Combo meal with broccoli, pork fried rice and a fried shrimp egg roll was trending towards 4.5 Stars, but fell a bit short so I'm going to round down to 4 Stars since I can't give half Star ratings. The chicken was good quality and well cooked. The sauce was a bit sweet and sour-leaning on the General Tso's Spectrum. The shrimp egg roll was very good. It had two medium size shrimp rather than a bunch of mini shrimp. Pro Tip - I like the pork egg roll at a lot of places, but Shrimp is definitely the way to go at Black Bamboo. The pork fried rice was tan, which I mention because I always prefer places with the tan rice to places with the yellow rice. I've ordered a range of things at Black Bamboo over the years. Their sauces are not always like the sauces at other places. And what I really like about Black Bamboo is each Black Bamboo sauce tastes different than its other sauces. At other takeout places, a few different named sauces are just vaguely brown, sweet and spicy. Black Bamboo is one of the better takeout Chinese options in Hartford County. 4.4 Stars
