This is my go to place. Sometimes I bring the kids and they give them candy, which is they're favorite. Jennifer is amazing. She's my gal for my nails and eye brow waxing. Highly recommend but make an appointment. They are busy for a reason. Also, please tip appropriately. read more

They are always accommodating and professional. My pedi always lasts for weeks. I'm going for gel nails along with my pedi this week.

I was able to walk in for pedicure and full set. Every thing was great . Will go back again.

Gel Polish costs $25.00 which is probably cheaper than other places which is nice. But you get what you pay for. This is fresh, took it the same day I got them done and you can see the patchiness of the polish, and just does not look like I went to a professional salon. The lady who assisted me was polite but made no effort to try and make small talk. Probably won't be returning to this salon even though it's more wallet friendly. read more

After I sat down I was told it was 35.00 for no chip acrylic fill.no one in Elgin charges that much. Then as looked around it was a filthy shop. The uv light machine was appalling. It was black inside from all the hands that were in there. Even the manager wouldn't look in the machine, when I brought it to her attention. No wash clothes after washing your hands, paper towels. The nail station was filthy,so I looked around and saw how dirty the whole salon was. I'm wanting 2 call health department. When I complained to manager who wouldn't look into the uv light machine, she said charge her 25 Instead. I I will never go back read more

This used to be my go to nail spot when I was in high school and college because my parents live so close. I loved the place and the owners were always so nice and attentive. Fast forward 7 years and this place is definitely not what it used to be. I went a few months ago to get a fill because I was in a rush and my nails were borderline tacky. I hadn't been there in quite some time, so I decided to go to my former go-to place. The woman who did my fill took FOREVER - 1.5 hours for a stupid fill! It was not any more special than any other place. I vowed to never go back. Yesterday I decided to give it one final chance because of my loyalty to the owners, at least the old owners. I promise I will never, ever go back. I went for a regular, standard manicure, nothing special. I asked for my nails to be trimmed a little, and as the man is filing my nails I noticed he took the liberty to choose the shape of my nails. Unfortunately I had been texting with my other hand, so when I finally looked he had almost finished one hand. Since he hadn't asked me what shape I wanted, I assumed he would follow whatever I had before. When he saw I was peeved he went to correct the problem but then ended up filing my nails super short. Totally a first-world problem so I figured whatever. He then went on to cry and cry about how terrible my cuticles were. He kept saying "bad, bad, bad." As a former nail biter, my cuticles were not nearly as bad as he was dramatically making them out to be. No, they weren't immaculate, but it wasn't anything a simple manicure couldn't clean up. It was like he was completely mortified by my hands. If he had made a comment once or twice I wouldn't have even flinched, but when he wouldn't let it go I then felt like he was being rude. I could go on about what other small things went wrong, but I think I've made my case. Yes, it's a convenient location, but that's about all it has going for it. I guess it's a family business that changed ownership from within one family to another, and I'm glad I can walk away without feeling like I was disloyal. The new ownership style really dropped the ball and I am more than happy to take my business elsewhere. read more

Went in Saturday for acrylics, I asked for matte nails and the lady (seemed like the owner) kept on saying that the color I chose couldn't be matte like what? I couldn't understand what she said at all. The nail shape was okay, but she did cut me way below my cuticle even after she noticed it hurt me. Won't be going back. read more

Wow i had went to get my nails done before and he rushed and they just ended up looking terrible. I was like never coming here again but then today i wanted my eyebrows done and i usually get them at this other place but ive been driving around all day so i didnt want to go there cause it is a bit farther so i was like mhmm ill give this place another chance . i told her i wanted them thin and the end result was horrific , you can totally tell they are a diffrent shape from one another and one of them is just so bad looking , i hate them and i have to go out in public with messed up eyebrow.I swear i WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN careless and inexperienced employees read more

They're so busy here but they really take the time to do a great job. It's also so much more affordable than any other place I know. $19 Mond-Thurs for pedicures. Basic mani-pedi is $32 Mond-Thurs I believe. Overall loved it. read more

This place sucks! Charges for every little thing! An older man did a horrible job on my nails, just changing the color. He charged extra to cut down. He and the rest of the staff was very unfriendly and sarcastic to me. Never again will they get my hard earned money. One screw up with my nails and then I happily move on to the next salon. Afterall it's at least 200 nail salons in every suburb! Lol! read more

DO NOT GO HERE! Every one of my fingers are cut! Besides the 40 minute wait, the woman didn't even take all my old nail polish off before starting my acrylic fill! My nails are uneven and every time she would cut me, she would just laugh and say "sorry" with a smile! I also highly doubt they ever clean their tools, the whole place is so dirty, I immediately ran out and bought antibiotic ointment because the tools were so dirty. It's been 3 days and my cuticles are sore, red and scabbing. Disgusting. read more

City Nails - Just one of ALL my fingers that were cut during my acrylic fill. - Nail Salons Near Me - Elgin, Illinois

My mom and I have been going to this place ever since I was little, since it was so close to my house. However, last time we came for a pedicure, the service was far from exceptional. I came with my mom and my aunt and the two women started to work on them right away, while I sat with my feet soaking for 45 minutes. Other workers there simply sat on their phones at the manicure tables instead of coming to help, and that was very frustrating. Flash forward to a couple months later and I decided to try them again. I went in for an acrylic manicure. The man working cut my fingers multiple times which was very painful, and when I walked out, one of the nails was put on crooked. For the price that I pay to get my nails done there, it should be an exceptional job, but I am never going back. Since I left, I have begun to go to US Nails right by the Walgreens on Summit. That place is amazing, they really try to make your nails perfect and the price is much cheaper than City Nails. If you go, ask for Kevin, he will not disappoint! read more

I give this place no stars they are awful... Don't go here go elsewhere. The gel polish chips, the polish for my pedi has chipped in two days of the pedi. Needless to say this was a waste of $67 never again and not to point out my eyebrows were not aligned l and when I asked her to fix it she made it worse read more

I always receive the best pedicures at this nail salon!

As a father taking my little girl to have her nails done. We walk in and were greeted and immediately escorted to a both where I sat next to my 8 yo. As I started to look around, I could see trash in the corners, cut toenails all over the floor and their red rug was in need of a deep clean! If this is what they show customers, I could only imagine how they clean and sanitize the tools they use on their customers. Very dirty, they really need to clean up their act! The prices were good, however, I'd rather pay more and walk into a clean shop, than to step on toenail clippings on the way out. Shame on you!!! read more

First time I went to this facility. Never again. My teen age daughter does my nails better than this so called professionals. Their facility is not only messy but they have limited nail polishes and the ones they have are old and dry. Their attitude is unfriendly and downright rude!! read more

I previously left a good review but am now changing It. I went here twice, once was a full set acrylic with no chip, my nails were breaking and the polish was peeling within days I went back and my nails were fixed for free. While they did appear to be better and look better again my no chip peeled off In a matter of days. I took them off my self last night as of not wanting to go in again of the embarrassment of my nails peeling twice and Im more than positive they use MMA, I could not get these nails off even after soaking and filing they were like made or cement not only that but they smelled fishy when I finally was able to get them off and the acetone I used turned brown after having my nails in them. Beware.. read more

The place i usually go to was closed so i thought id give this place a try. Thinking how bad can it be, well it was the worst place ever. It was that bad to the point that the owner gave me a gift certificate for $25 for the first time because i wasnt satisfied with my nails. So i went again with a better attitude thinking they'll do a better job at it, well i thought wrong. read more

Overall this place is dirty and slow. There has to be better places in Elgin. I was in town visiting family and I wanted to just pop in with my sister to get our nails done. I was hoping to get a no-chip, when I asked to see the colored the lady pointed to a plastic container full of samples that had been haphazardly thrown in. All of them were so dirty that I couldn't see the color, so I opted for traditional nail polish. I hesitated for a long time trying to find just a regular nail polish because all of the colors appeared to be old and have been sitting there for a long time. I had an hour and expected to be able to leave with a manicure and pedicure. I asked when I walked in if they would be able to do both at the same time and they said yes. It didn't happen. The woman who did my pedicure did an alright job. However my sister was sitting in the chair for a long time before anyone came over to her. The chair wasn't even clean- they needed to scrub out the foot soaking part. Overall the pedicure was just slow. As I was finishing mine, someone finally came over to do my sister's. I was then taken over to get my nails done. The woman who did it wasn't very good. She had to get about 10 different times to find things or assist other customers. And when she was working on me she was very slow. The nail polish she put on me was pretty bad. I could tell as she was painting there were some sort of strings, or dust, or something that was on the brush so my nails came out looking streaky. She also got nail polish all over my fingers. It was cleaned up in the end but I've had plenty of manicure where that hasn't been the case. I definitely would not go back here. I suppose it would be ok if you like people who do a mediocre job and have a lot of time to waste. read more

I have come here for a very long time. This was my go-to place when I was in a hurry to just get something done. I've always gotten acrylics and just recently stopped and started on no chip manicures. Well, when I came to City Nails.. it was different. The tables were re-arranged, and new workers.. a whole new vibe. I got there about 6:00pm to get a no chip manicure. It was fairly busy, but got seated right away. They had me soak my nails in acetone, so that my gel polish would come off easily. Well, I sat there with my nails soaking for about 20 minutes.... my fingers were getting dry and wrinkly by the time the girl helped me. I believe she was new, or training.. because she was very shaky and the other workers were telling her what to do while she was doing my nails. She cut me while she was cutting my cuticles.. well, long story short... i was there until 8:00pm. Two whole hours to get a no chip manicure. I don't think I will go there again. They were having a 20% off grand opening sale, but my no chip still ended up being $28.. while I could've gone somewhere else, with better service and experience and paid less. If you're in a rush.. I don't recommend coming here.. you never know who you're going to get. They can either be experienced or still training. BUT, the girl who helped me was VERY nice. My nails came out nice, but my cuticles are still there. She didn't really cut them very well. I can go on and on, but this review is starting to get boring, so I will end it here! read more

About a week ago, I went to get my nails done at City Nails in Elgin, on 58 by the Jewel Osco. I got a no-chip pedicure and an acrylic fill, totaling at $60. $65 including a tip. My nails kept breaking and my toes kept chipping. So today I went back and was told they would fix it at no charge. They ran me another pedicure and fixed my acrylics. Fixing my acrylics, he just polished over the original nail polish applied and glued my nail back to the acrylic- instead of removing the nail and just completely redoing it, the right way. As I was getting ready to leave, I was stopped and asked "what are you doing? You can't leave without paying." I objected and said "you told me this would be no charge." She argued with me and said "no. You had a pedicure and a re-polish. You need to pay me." As I started to get offended, I said "I got a no-chip last week. They chipped. I'm not paying you for another whole pedicure." The lady then proceeded to tell me I didn't get a no-chip pedicure and that I had paid $45 last week for absolutely nothing. She laughed in my face and told me she didn't know what I was talking about. She then asked me if I had a receipt. I told her no, that I had paid in cash. I still refused to paying her the $25 for the regular pedicure, and the $5 they had wanted- to just go over the nail polish I already had on- for the fact I was over charged for a shitty nail job a week prior, and the fact she started to argue with me. She told me there wasn't anything she could do about it and that I had to pay her for the service they had provided AFTER she had already said there would be no charge. After about 10 minutes of her still trying to argue with me, She locked the doors and started to call the cops on me, not to mention there were other customers around, because I refused to pay for their shitty shitty service. I ended up paying her $30. No one should have to deal with that. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I came in to get a full set of acrylics and walked out bleeding on two different fingers. A woman named May did my nails. She was rude to begin with. She did not clean my nails nor did she clean up my cuticles. The moment I walked over she glued on some nails and began her work. She didn't ask me what shape. So, half way through I had to stop her and tell her. She used an electric sander on my bare nails. She nicked me twice with the sander which caused me to bleed. After she was done my nails looked terrible. My mom went in and complained 20 minutes later and they pretended a May didn't even work there. I assume she has no license. I ended up getting my money back. But just don't go here. read more
