excellent service, good prices and they do a great job dry cleaning or washing. Highly recommended.

THEIR DRY CLEANING SHRANK MY CASHMERE SWEATERS!!!!! SO UNACCEPTABLE!!!!! I brought two wool and cashmere sweaters here for dry cleaning and they came back having shrunk. For one of my sweaters, the sleeves shrank by 4 inches (measured by the owner herself). Both sweaters were super soft before I brought them there, and now the texture has become stiff. This is not supposed to happen since dry cleaning never leads to shrinkage. The owner would not compensate me for neither the dry cleaning fee nor the damage to my $300 sweaters. Instead she insists on trying to stretch them back but there has already been permanent damage done to the quality of the wool. I will update how the sweaters look after stretching, but for now they are ruined. read more

It's a tiny dry cleaning place. It was rather difficult to find at the first time - even with my google map. I was skeptical in the beginning because the price that this Korean lady (owner, I think?) asked me was a lot cheaper than other dry cleaning places, but all of my clothes were turned out great! They are also great in sewing. I am a regular customer, and I am always satisfied with their service. I will go there again with my winter coats soon. I strongly recommend this place! read more

Contrary to what is advertised they don't accommodate same day requests. Gotta love false advertising!

City Express is a small, family-run business, and they've made me a life-long customer with their great service and surprising generosity. I was looking for a place to clean my wedding dress before my wedding, and was shocked by how expensive it can be (often over $150 to do even a basic cleaning on a dress!). City Express had the best prices by far, and even though I had never worked with them before, I thought I'd take my chances. My dress came back beautifully and in just 2 weeks (vs. the 3-5 weeks quote I got from other places). That was nice, but what made me fall in love with City Express is what happened next. We had maintenance guys come to our apartment one day, and in fixing something in our closet, they dumped my wedding dress on the ground in a crumpled heap. I came home to find the dress wrinkled and dented in the bodice. I was furious and stressed out since I didn't know how to fix it myself, and my wedding was less than 2 weeks away by that point. I brought it back to City Express, fully prepared to pay whatever it took to reclean it and have it back before the wedding. I explained what happened and instead of taking advantage of my wedding desperation (as pretty much everything else in the wedding industry seems to do), they told me they would work on the dress 1) asap, and 2) for FREE! I was so touched by their unexpected and totally unnecessary show of generosity that I almost cried. Seriously. My dress came back to me within the week, once again in perfect condition. I will always be grateful that I discovered this small shop of great service and good hearts. read more

So, I'm bumping up to 4 stars! City Express has been consistently good for the last 2 years. 1. They've always gotten my clothes clean 2. They've only broken one button, on a shirt and it was repaired 3. They're always ready on time, and they can do 24-hr service if required 4. They're super nice and even remember my name! 5. There's a 15-min Loading area on Mass Ave that's within 20 feet of their door, when it's crazy cold or wet and you wanna drive I still hope they'll consider some more eco-friendly options. :) read more

Funny that everyone seems to have such a different experience with this place. We live nearby and have been using them for a few years, and not only have we never had a negative experience, but they know us when we walk in, they get our clothes for us and are very pleasant and polite. They are always accommodating on their turnaround times. If you need something in a couple of days, just ask, they will do it. Personally, I love that they store winter coats for the cost of the cleaning, and I've been taking advantage of that for three winters now. Again, no trouble, and it's so great to not have to fill my limited closet space with coats out of season. It's like having a big, huge, moth-free closet two blocks away! We've had them hem trousers and mend moth holes in sweaters a few times, too, and they delivered good service for that as well. And, for what it's worth, my husbands shirts, and trousers, are all designer, and they have never done them any harm. They are very good about spotting and addressing problem areas, as Cat L says. read more

I had a great experience with City Express. I had three blouses dry cleaned and the turn around time was very quick. The place is small, but they do all of the cleaning right within their facility. It is also really convenient if you live in Central Sq. (right on Mass Ave next to Mariposa Bakery). My only complaint is it was a bit expensive ($6 for a women's blouse) and the hours could be better. They are open weekdays from 7:30am to 6:30pm, I wish they opened either earlier or were open later so that I don't have to rush when I am either coming or going from work. Overall, City Express is definitely my go-to dry cleaner in Central Square. read more

I'm updating my review since I no longer support this store. Because of my positive past experience I decided to go back for a wash of two collared shirts and one skirt suit. The next day price was 27$ total which seemed kind of high to me. The clothes were washed and done on time. However they used a safety pin to hang up my skirt!! I couldn't believe they put holes in my expensive suit. If I'm willing to spend this much to wash it I expect them to not pierce it! The hours of operation are limited. I would have liked a late night option to pick up and drop off clothes. read more

Great service - soft-spoken, friendly staff. Although it's a bit pricey, I've had no issues with the dry cleaning and have been using their service for years. Two issues: 1. Their hours are very limited for those who work long days. The closing time makes it virtually impossible to pick up after work. 2. Parking can be very difficult! Not their fault, of course, but tough if you don't live around the corner and have a lot of clothes to get cleaned. read more

I love family owned businesses. I've had bad experiences with chain dry cleaners until I found City Express. They have never lost an article of clothing, that's my # 1 priority! They also remember me everytime I come in by name. They will remember stains I need removed, or buttons I need replaced. You can ask for overnight service if needed also. They do provide some tailor services which I've used occasionally at good rates, and they'll clean just about anything. They offere hanger, folded or boxed services. Service is very personable. :) They also did the intial steaming of my wedding gown for my wedding day, we coordinated the day I needed it ready and it was beautiful. They did the after-wedding cleaning as well, the gown was filthy at the bottom after wedding day, they cleaned it like new again and boxed it for storage. The family I've met are a husband and wife, brother, mother, and neice (toddler), and their adorable poodle. :) read more

For the past 5+ years I have been a faithful customer of City Express. I went to no one else, brought my clothes, my husbands clothes and recommended them to others. They got a TON of business from me as I've visited them weekly to dry clean everything from suits, dresses, alterations, comforters.. everything. More recently, I began to feel that one of the people who work there does not conduct themselves professionally and has said off-handed things that were not appropriate and do not put the best interest of the customer first. After a few instances of this, I made an effort to visit City Express when someone else was manning the front desk. However a customer shouldn't have to go through these great lengths just to get good service. I do not wish to go into details about the altercation that I just went through but the comments that one of the people who work there was highly disrespectful and it is clear that they do not regard professionalism at high priority. They do good work but I believe the merit of a good business is not what they can produce time and time again but how they conduct themselves when something goes wrong. Unfortunately they conducted themselves poorly so I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

This is the one of the best cleaners in Cambridge. I have known them for 4 years and they are great people. This is a small family business (not like big "don't care about your clothes" chain store; Zoots and anton's). They are happy to do business in central square. They don't have same day service right now but they can do next day service in promise. They are so good at removing oil or grease stain. I dropped off a white shirt with big grease/oil stain in front not to long ago. it came out not only removed all my stains, but also it made even more whiter. I was so happy it was my favorite shirt. They are happy to clean collar and cuff when you mention to them. They do have great tailoring service too. Overall, I am happy with my cleaner and I will recommend people to try this cleaner. read more

I needed a new dry cleaner as the one I had been using (Squeaky Cleaners Inman Sq.) was just too slow and erratic. This place is a little on the expensive side, but they have good hours, and next day service. Very solid option for a dry cleaner in the Central/Kendall area. read more

Just had a new zipper put in two Arc Teryx jackets. I've had these jackets forever and they both had broken zippers.. These guys did AN AMAZING JOB!! Stitched as well as they were from the factory and the zippers themselves are super high quality metal zippers that I don't see breaking... Ever!! If you need some repair work done to your winter gear - especially zippers - this is the place to go. read more

Alway quick. Usually if you give them the dry cleaning by 5pm, they can have it done by 5pm the next day (laundering takes longer). The people are really friendly and nice. Never needed to get stains out of anything, so I'm not sure how they are at that. read more

Really good dry cleaners, they'll tell you up front if they think they'll be able to fix something or if you're just going to waste your money trying. Pretty quick turnaround for clothes and really pleasant customer service. Wouldn't take my clothes anywhere else! read more

Stay away from this place. They have no respect for your clothes. I took a brand new top (that I purchased on my recent trip to Paris) to them last week, and they literally ripped out every single snap that holds the shirt together---it is completely ruined. If you care about your clothes there's several other dry cleaners down the street. read more

I never mind paying more for better quality/service. I didn't hesitate when they told me they'd need to charge me more for the coffee stain on my dress shirt. When the shirts came back. Still had the stain. When I brought it to their attention they said we can't make the shirt like new again rudely. I wasn't asking for that all I wanted was to remove the stain which they saw and were aware of, and told me to pay more to get rid of. I cleaned it myself and it was off without a problem....very disappointed. read more

They did not deliver their service at the time they promised and the shop owner's mother cannot handle herself correctly. She makes people feel annoyed and do not want to go there any more. In short, they need to know how to treat their customers in a friendly manner. read more

Everytime I drop clothing off at the dry cleaners I seem to need a quick turnaround, and they are always able to meet my needs. The same woman is always working the counter and she spots stains even I have missed when she inspects the clothes I drop off. Her honest opinion about whether they can get a stain out is also much appreciated. The only negative is that the cost to get womens dress shirts laundered and ironed is a bit expensive. read more

They are the best cleaners West or East Coast I have had. I don't mind the 3 day wait as they actually do a good job!!!!! Excellent results - and believe me I am know as a spiller on my clothes. EXCELLENT SERVICE AND EXCELLENT RESULTS. Believe me I am picky! read more

Shirts and Pants are better ironed and packaged than any other cleaners around. They do offer next day service, but you have to specify or they will do there regular scheduling thing ... 3 - 4 days. It is too bad that they don't offer same day service and they don't open on Sundays. read more

I am so impressed with City Express Cleaners! I brought in a white raincoat last week that had black grease stains on the front. The lady at the counter was honest with me in that she wasn't sure if the stain would come out since I wasn't able to tell her what it was (I noticed it after I attended a street festival in Harvard Square so it could have been food, bike chain grease, etc). I also told her I had tried to take the stain out multiple times myself at home to no avail. When I came in later in the week to pick up my jacket, the same lady was at the counter and took the time to show me where the stains had been and the removal they had been able to do. She was apologetic that they hadn't been able to get 100% of the stains out (although I honestly can't tell where they were anymore). The jacket was pretty much a goner in my opinion if they weren't able to get the stain out so I was really impressed with their results and with the customer service the lady at the counter provided. I will definitely be back!! read more
