Cheap, delicious & great view! Go Toledo, so glad to see downtown looking so beautiful. The iPad/ ordering tablet could use some UX focus/editing to make it more efficient. Otherwise, space is clean and modern. I'm going to start making it a habit to come here. Food is tasty, could maybe step it up a notch spice wise, but I like it's simplicity and flavor. Wow! Highly recommended. What a great breakfast place. They impressed me at every turn. Online ordering- possibly the best system for pre ordering and pickup. I ordered last night for 7:15am pickup. Menu choices and customization options were super easy to understand. Egg sandwich- FABULOUS. Brioche bun was soft and tasty. Eggs, bacon, cheese and Sriracha. Perfect for an easy to eat breakfast on the road. Orange juice- Fresh squeezed and TASTY. Worth the money. Coffee- plain black, smooth and delicious. Not bitter at all. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. read more

While the staff stood by, welcomed us, and directed us to the kiosks to place our order, we had questions that couldn't be solved via the very basic kiosk. Unfortunately, we learned we couldn't order omelettes without sides. When we inquired about ordering just omelettes, we were told to place the order with sides but we'd not receive the sides. ??? Reason for four stars instead of five is they have no bike parking. Zoning laws require any new building or building zoned for a new purpose have to provide bike parking. They are owned by Promedica, the regions largest health care provider, so all the more reason to promote biking, but none of the promedica buildings downtown have bike parking. If you live downtown and are planning to ride your bike, make sure you have a chain lock because no place to use a ULock. This is a great addition to downtown and they are open weekends and the only place open on holidays downtown. It's very convenient being able to order online and pay in advance and have your ready order when you arrive. If you order at the store, you have to use a Kiosk, but helpful employees if you run into a problem. You have to bus your own tables as well, but they use real tableware and no tipping. read more

Reminds me of a mom and pop diner with the quality of food and the price. Cheap and very good food that reminds me of all of my favorite diners. The staff was very friendly and helped us with it being our first time there. Have a nice selection of food and drinks to choose from. Wish we had one in our area! Visited City Egg for the first time this weekend. All I can say is that it was a great experience overall. The newly built restaurant has a bright welcoming aesthetic compared to the typical dingy breakfast restaurants. Ordering was a breeze using the 'order-yourself' kiosks (there are three sets for when it gets busy). The menu has great options from "knife and fork" to "handheld", café and juices. Food was great and most importantly the bacon was cooked perfectly! I ordered a Mocha and the wife ordered a "berry detox". Everything was awesome. Will be returning soon. read more

My wife and I will venture out for breakfast to different places on Sunday's. Last Sunday I chose the City Egg. I will say the food tasted pretty good but the portions for the price we payed was thumbs down. We spent about $22 for two breakfast dinners and I was not full. Potato's are cheep. This place is great, from the snappy kiosk ordering system, to the friendly and helpful staff, to the most important part, the food! I've never been here until today when my family and I stopped in for bfast. Ordering is done via touchscreen kiosks that clearly show the menu and walk the user through options and add-ons. Staff are super nice and helpful is you have questions about the menu. The food is very good with the omelettes using fresh ingredients, and the kids loved the pancakes! Portions are just right. The place is clean and they have an outdoor patio as well. Next time we're in the area, we will definitely be back! read more

The concept is cool but the execution is one step up from McDonald's. Food is overpriced for what it is. The turkey sandwich was literally cheap turkey lunch meat on a brioche bun with a squirt of aioli. The breakfast is a little better. The French toast is good. Really really poor experience. Staff was super friendly but the food was borderline inedible. When I walked in, guests were arguing with the staff about how bad their meal was. I attributed it to them just being rude. After eating the food myself, I somewhat know where these people were coming from. Ordered an omelette with no cheese. There was more cheese than egg. Hash browns had legitimately no flavor at all. Tasted like I was eating shredded cardboard. Also ordered the avocado TOAST. The bread was soft multigrain bread with tasteless avocado and an "over well" egg that was more over easy. If not for the friendly staff, this would have been one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had in Toledo. I hope this place does well, and the location and architecture is awesome, but the product needs a vast remodeling. read more

Breakfast is great day or night and City Egg didn't disappoint. It was a very cool layout with an nice use of technology for self-service ordering. I had the South of the Border omelette and it was really good. My only negative is that there weren't any low carb sides. read more

Stopped in for our first visit on a Saturday and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Ordering at the kiosk was easy, and it was nice to see images of the food as you ordered. Scrambled eggs were tasty after I added a bit of salt, hash browns with cheese were great, and the chocolate chip pancakes were very good. The only thing I was at all let down by was their bacon which was thin and not terribly tasty. I might splurge for the premium bacon they offer next time. My coworkers and I went to the Downtown Toledo CityEgg in hopes of a decent meal as the menu offered a lot of good options for calorie counting, egg whites, no butter, turkey sausage, things like that. So I ordered an Uncle Moose(low calorie options), cant go wrong with that, and a Soda in hopes of getting a Diet to balance out the hash brown's extra calories. Only after paying can you see that the soda machine was town to only a few choices, diet Dr Pepper and diet Pepsi. Being as I don't like cola's, this left me the choice of diet Dr Pepper. As I dispensed the diet Dr Pepper into my $2.50 cent cup, it came out completely clear. One can assume that that means the soda syrup is 100% completely out and I was not the first to see this. Again, I don't like cola's, so I went back up to ask the "hostess" if they could change it and was told they are out completely and it cannot be replaced. This left me a little confused because if you knew that, why not put up a sign. So I then asked for a refund as I would just get water. I never got her name, but the "hostess" then told me to wait, so she could talk to "him" and gestured to the other side of the kitchen. I waited patiently until AFTER my food was ready and again, asked for a refund. In a huff, she went over to the man she waved at earlier. "There's this man over there that wants a refund for his soda." where the words that she loudly stated to him. I cannot speak to what he said, but it was brief and dismissive. She then returned to tell me they could not refund just the soda and offered me a "buy one, get one" coupon. Funny, the same coupon the couple ordering behind me used (worn and folded from a wallet). I did decline the coupon as i don't currently have plans to eat two meals at the same time at your restaurant, but was surprised by the fact that that was the end of the conversation. No other option or offer was provided. She did finally get an "out of order" sign on the diet Dr Pepper though, right as I was finishing my meal. To treat a guest in that fashion, I'm am astonished you have as many customers as you do, though, to be honest, there were not many patrons during a Friday lunch hour as one would expect. read more

My brother and I visited during our stay downtown over the holidays. It was so nice to have a tasty breakfast option with a bunch of fresh, healthy choices. The interior was smart, sunny and modern. But it was the staff that really sold us on the place and prompted us to come back a second time! They were authentically friendly and engaging. They accommodated our special requests and looked after us in our pre-caffeinated state. City Egg seems like a perfect addition to a re-surging downtown scene. :) read more
