City Egg is a small Ohio breakfast/brunch/lunch chain that offers a pretty extensive menu that includes a variety of egg dishes, pancakes, avocado toast (of course), a quinoa bowl, acai bowls, sandwiches and wraps, bakery items, and a coffee bar. We were greeted warmly upon arrival and although ordering is typically done electronically the staff member assured us he was available to answer any questions. The e-ordering process is very easy and has options for customization which is a perk. The food is all prepared to order and came out nicely plated and at the correct temperature. My dining companions very much enjoyed their pancakes, eggs, and hashbrowns. I ordered the tropical acai bowl which was topped with a good amount of a variety of fruit. I do wish the acai base was a little thicker; the texture was more smoothie than sorbet but the flavor was lovely. I was pleasantly surprised by the tasty breakfast yesterday at City Egg. I had the American skillet, hash brown base, eggs over easy on biscuits topped with sausage gravy. The sausage gravy was not spicy, which I appreciate, and well made. I had hash browns as a side, because i can never have too many potatoes, but you can choose other sides, like fruit or toast. The ordering system is electronic on touch pads which i don't love but I know we can blame Covid for that. There was a young woman available for directions and another woman cooking. The place is clean with lots of tables and chairs and restrooms were clean. I didn't see a place to leave tips on the pads because i like to tip but the store is almost completely self serve. My breakfast was $12 which is reasonable. Only gave 4 stars because i prefer human interaction, but no real complaints about the food read more

This was our first time at this establishment. The food was good. No complaints at all on food quality whatsoever. Our challenge was getting to the food. It's a kiosk system and it was not exceptionally user friendly. Thankfully they weren't busy and the kitchen staff was able to assist us. I was able to get my order in, however, my husband believed he ordered wheat toast but actually received a creamy French toast. It was good but just not what he thought he was ordering. It's very self serve with ketchup packets versus bottles and such. I don't love the self serve experience when I am sitting in, especially when a tip is requested. Get your own everything and what % tip would you like to leave prior to even receiving your food is a bit of a pill. Just bad etiquette, "please pay me for no services yet rendered" is unimpressive. read more

Mixed feelings about this place. The ordering and serve yourself theme is awkward. They have you put your name on your order but are unable to announce your name loud enough to hear in the tiny place. Never the less we went to counter to see if our food was finally ready and they pointed out our trays of food plates. We had someone else's food on our trays as well. City Egg is light and bright when you walk in and I was greeted right away. There is no table service, but there are several tablet kiosks where you place your order. If you order a drink, it comes from the back bar and then they will call the name on the order when the food is up. There is also a tv screen on the wall by the kitchen that shows order names and status so you can track your order, which is a nice feature. I found it to be very easy to place my order and pay for it on the tablet. I let the staff know they were out of napkins and they thanked me and filled it right away. All other utensils, seasonings, etc were well stocked. It was moderately busy on a Saturday around 10:30am but our food only took about 10 minutes. Everything was hot and ready to eat. I had the avocado omelet with fruit and crispy hashbrowns (you can select "crispy" when ordering the hashbrowns!) The pepper and onions you could tell were fresh because they still had a crunch to them and not soggy like frozen veggies usually are. My omelet was flavorful and fresh. My latte with skim milk was the right temp and had good flavor. I felt it was a large portion for the price as I couldn't finish it all, but a great deal! My only complaint was the salsa. It seemed like they may make it in house which I appreciate that, but it was too runny for my liking. I would definitely return for another breakfast or even to grab a latte to go. read more

This was a huge disappointment! I'm a major Scrambler's fan and have wanted to try City Egg in Bowling Green since they opened. Went in this morning and could not figure out the ordering system. The person at the counter was no help at all, rude and for the most part leaned against the wall and offer no assistance. When we finally asked it seemed like it was a major inconvenience for her. So happy to have another breakfast option in Bowling Green. City Egg's ingredients always taste so fresh. I love to get the Wisconsin scrambled eggs and premium bacon. My cousin opted for the avocado toast while my uncle ordered the hotcakes. Everyone was very satisfied with their food. Food was good. Not great, but good. I thought it was little pricey for what you got, but still a nice change from the normal in BG. It seems like it is primarily self service. I've always had a pleasant experience at City Egg, a nice and modern take on breakfast. I think this business is a niche market, it's not quite sit down but not quite take away, but rather a good middle ground where you place your own order at a kiosk and then retrieve the plate (dine in or take away). I would not recommend this place. Their food appears to be from GFS or Sisco. The hash browns were straight from the bag & were not browned at ALL. The toast was overdone. And anyone can cook eggs. You put your order in on a screen, pick up food from counter, and bus your own table. I went with three friends & all of us got upset stomachs; we think it was the oil used to fry the food. The staff is very friendly though inexperienced. The spinach and portobello mushroom omelet is quite tasty but rather pricey. The ordering process is by way of a kiosk, which seems to be becoming more and more popular among fast food restaurants, but is also very impersonal. The drinks have an awful lot of ice, so less of the drinks. The large plates are egg-shaped and white, while the small plates are yolk-shaped and yellow; very cute. The restrooms are clean. read more
