Bill is the type of person who rarely exists these days - personable, knowledgeable, honest, and interested in educating and helping. We were lucky to have stumbled across him on yelp after we noticed a bunch of wasps flying under a gutter. Bill responded and came out on a weekend and came up with a treatment plan given the tricky location. He explained what he was doing and why and what we should expect to see from the wasps over the next several days. If I could rate City Bee Savers a 10--they earned every star! We noticed bees? Wasps? Flying in formation on/out of a crack in our third floor window lintels. Then, found the critters flying around the master bedroom. OMG! Contacted Bill/City Bee Savers. He asked for a photo. Sent. Learned these were Western European Yellow Jacket Wasps. Appointment with Justin the next day. He worked for over an hour. Explained the nest was most likely close to the entrance. Applied both short/long term powder and smoke to kill the wasps. He was very helpful in explaining the nest had eggs that could hatch and we might see more wasps emerge in the next few weeks. If so, just give City Bee Savers a call and they would return at no cost. Fantastic customer service and did a great job removing our wasps. Bill educated me on how the Bees I had burrowing in my back yard were actually wasps! I called to inquire about service and he sent someone out that same day for me. They did a great job. About a week later I saw a few more wasps coming out of the hole and called to ask about it and again, that same day they came back out and completed another round of service free of charge because they guarantee their services. We called City Bee Savers to remove a wasp nest about 20+ ft up under our roof. They communicated effectively, gave us proper expectations, and came prepared to do the job. The wasp nest was removed. Then about a week later, we noticed the wasp began to rebuild their nest AND created a new nest somewhere else in our yard, and City Bee Savers came back a 2nd time to remove both nests, and gave us directions to help mitigate the problem. I Purchased two NUCS from Bill Whitney this Spring and both have European Foulbrood. Ordering the bee's and arranging pickup was a difficult task. Bill kept changing the date of the pickup. One time he told me to come get the Bee's and he made a mistake and I took the afternoon off from work. When I finally did get my NUC's they were practically empty. The NUC's being empty was the least of the problem as the bee's and hive have European Foulbrood. I have to say that my family and myself are VERY DISSAPOINTED!!! We really look forward to this time of the year and tending to the Bee's. I will NEVER order from BILL WHITNEY or city bee savers again!! Bill and his assistant Mike did an outstanding job at our house last week. We had 25,000 honeybees inside an awning/eave of our house *no joke* They came out the next day and removed TWO swarms (two queen bees) from a tiny crevice in that awning. He even got us a souvenir honeycomb and a jar and a half of honey-- which was made into a honey chicken recipe the very next night....seriously. Anyway...the price was tough ($1,100), but what are you going to do? No way I could do this myself. He had to saw open a part of our awning and use two bee vacuums to get all of them out. A very tough job that I feel very few people would be willing to do. I'd hire them again if we had similar issues. read more

We knew nothing about bees and thought we had a wasp nest under some exterior trim - bees had been flying in and out of there for a few years. A friend of ours informed us that they're actually honey bees and that we'd need a bee keeper for removal "and it can cost thousands." Found City Bee Savers on Yelp and we are so glad we did! Bill had an infared device which pinpointed exactly where the nest was so didn't have to remove more ceiling than was necessary. They have all the equipment to safely remove the bees for transport to other hives, the area was completely cleaned out and sealed; they were kind and respectful of our home and cleaned up everything before leaving. My husband spent the day taking pics and videos of the whole process, it was very educational, these guys know everything about honey bees! We purchased five Nucs from Bill Whitney this spring, they were not ready at the original time and the pick up dates kept getting pushed back. During pickup he was just putting the Nucs together and exchanging frames. Each Nuc had a few bare frames in them, he said they were brushed with wax. One Nuc was returned immediately as it did not have a queen at all! Within a month, three of the four we kept have European Foulbrood. He also informed me we were not the only customers with this. Bill had the same issue last year selling Nucs with this bacteria. He skipped having the Nucs inspected because he "ran out of time." I have contacted him several times about Terrramycin to treat the hives. He has given us half of what he said he would, and has since stopped responding to my inquiries. Our concern is that he keeps selling nucs with foulbrood in them, he was also reported last year the more we are researching this. read more

I had carpenter bees above my bay window. And not just any ol bees... these were the 85 V Bears of bees. Big, vicious, and ripped through wood like Richard Dent through a New England offensive line. Most pest control companies said they could come by and spray a few times and kill a few bees... but that wouldn't be a long term solution. Then I found Bill. Bill was fantastic. It was 2017 and hurricane Irma and Maria has ripped through Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Florida. The FEMA organization was short on personnel due to prior hurricanes that had ripped through the United States. I volunteered to leave my home for 3 months to go and assist. The day before I was to leave I went to sit quietly in my back yard to gather myself in thought for what was ahead of me. While sitting there I noticed bees flying directly into my home like there was some unseen runway. It struck me hard because I had noticed a few bees in my bathroom, not knowing how they had gotten in. I watched and watched as the direct line into my home overtook me with fear. Had I not witnessed this, my house surely would have been overtaken with bees by the time I returned in 3 months. I had no time to spare. I picked up my phone and called the first Bee expert I could find. That expert happened to be Mr. Bill Whitney!! How blessed was I that he heard my story and worked me into his busy schedule, and how blessed I was again that he WAS/IS the expert who knew exactly what to do to remedy my problem. He is a phenomenal person and takes his job very seriously. Believe me he's the one. Well once I arrive to my duty station with FEMA I wanted to reach back and thank Bill, I looked him up on my phone again, this time to find all of these fabulous stories about him.
