I recently met up with family in town for the holiday at City Barbecue. I hadn't been before but thought it was ok. I had the Beef Brisket. It was a little dry but otherwise had a good flavor. The coleslaw was also good. Not great but pretty good. We also ordered the Fried Pickles Basket appetizer. My niece's boyfriend liked them quite a bit and took the leftover pickles with them. This place was mediocre in my opinion. If your an out of towner and want a fix of some bbq and want a quick bite, this is it in my opinion. I didn't find anything outstanding about this place besides they had good customer service. I ordered the smoked chicken salad that was good. They put a lot of chicken in your salad. I have ordered City BBQ , many times in the past. Generally it is good to okay. Some items, like the baked beans and the mac and cheese never disappoint, while other items are hit or miss. Most recently I ordered the three meats and 2 sides. It was such a disappointment, what I received should have never left the store, the meats were unacceptable the brisket was a couple chunks that were overcooked and burnt, it looked like the ends of both sides. I love brisket so when I received this I was very unhappy, what should have been some slices of brisket were chunks of burnt overcooked ends. The pork was edible and the sausage was barely warm. The last few times we've ordered delivery there have either been items missing from our order or food that fell extremely short of what we're used to from City Barbecue. We ordered on April 1st and there was an order of green beans missing, and our 2 orders of tenders were so dry and over cooked it reminded me of fast food burger joint tenders. Our Nashville hot tenders were hard and the seasoning was a dry dusting like they shook them in a bag of powder after they were overcooked for a half hour. After receiving this quality of food on an almost $100 delivery order, we've decided we're done with City Barbecue until they can improve the quality of their food and attention to detail. read more

The food was great! However, we had it delivered and the poor delivery driving company guy had to go back to the store two times because the blue ash store did not include any of the meat the first time. They only put in buns and sauces. The second time they forgot the pan of coleslaw. I called and spoke with the manager and he said they were sorry. This was not the driver's fault. That store should've had the expediters check to make sure that everything was there before they gave it to the driver. This was for a Christmas party of 35, so it would've been nice if they had it correct the first time. The food was great though. read more

I have always loved this restaurant. Ribs, brisket and pulled pork are awesome. We had family over for lunch today and we got a pound of pulled chicken as one of our family members does eat pork or beef. Unfortunately I didn't check it before I got home. My wife opened up the container and it was full of white water and what looked like boiled chicken. Apparently it was a thawed out container of "pulled chicken ". Absolutely disgusting, covered in a white slime resembling mayo. My daughter did not eat anything and went home early. Not so bad! Love their beef brisket. It's tender, juicy and has a bit of a well seasoned char to it that makes it perfect to eat on its own. For a side option I chose the hush puppies that were puffy and had a perfect crisp to them. The draw back was they were not gluten free so I sadly had to watched my best friend eat the rest, while I still had that lingering onion/cornmeal taste in my mouth. I also tried the potato salad which was your typical picnic salad! Love that you can sample all the sauces but I have to say the horseradish sauce is always a favorite of mine! Everything tasted great. My only issue is this.... If you charge by the pound, make sure you actually put that shit on a scale. I got home and felt like I got ripped off. I got shorted 6 Oz on turkey and 5 Oz on pulled pork. I'm ok with paying the price per pound as long as it hits a scale. Was out here in the Eastgate area because of my job and I've been running past this place so I decided to finally give it a try. Menu is pretty big and there's a lot of different choices. Decided to go with pulled pork sandwich and have potato salad as my side. Got a drink as well I have one of those variety drink machines the ones where you can pick your soda and you can add your flavoring. Food was ready really fast. A lot of seats and there's also outdoor seating as well for in the summertime. Now for the food. The pool pork sandwich was pretty good it was a little bit bland but they have a lot of different barbecue sauces you can choose from which are OK. The potato salad was really good. I signed up for Yelp just to leave this review. I was halfway through my pulled pork when I came across this green gem. I have eaten here once before and previously the greens (I don't mean the meat) were great, this time not so much. They were at least consistent in their offering only a couple of pickle slices or partially filled sample cups of diced (not sliced) onions at a time. Also, the meat seems consistently dry. The staff was at least friendly and attentive, only at the counter; there is no table service which is fine. I will not be back, even if I survive the botulism which may result from my green pork. read more
