I found a lot of what I needed (cleaners, light bulbs, candles, air fresheners and towels) for the job. As with other closeout stores, their stock is limited to what they get access to, which makes it a new experience each trip. Some of their selections included food, books, beauty, household and electronics. Sign up for the shoppers rewards for additional savings. The register aisle featured a Mars candy closeout, so I grabbed some gum and a M&Ms sharing size for the plane trip home.

The prices are still lower than other stores on some things though. Today I had a question about the pillows I was purchasing the sign on the bin said 2.99 it did not specify size only the name brand. I asked an associate and he assured me it was all of them, when I got to the register it rang a dollar higher not much but not the point. The cashier kindly asked for a price check and the woman who came to the register to answer us, I can only assume she was management, was very rude and dismissive about it being the other size and only one bin and not the other as she walked away. I maybe go in Von Maur once a season, and it is even more noticeable at least to me, when you visit a store in longer intervals. They do have excellent eye-catching merch displays and still focused on upscale dressing and seemed like every section had a sales associate to help and areas were upkept. They are targeting heavily toward the older higher income demographics. It is especially telling when you listen to their choice of piano music in them. I would think a salesclerk would go a bit bonkers hearing taped renditions over and over of sickeningly sweet instrumental earworm inducing oldies all day long. I'm surprised this mall chain has lasted, as it hasn't really changed with the times. As times get ever more difficult with less to spend in this way, it will be interesting to see how this chain reacts.

The merchandise is high end, name brand. They carry men's, women's and children's clothing and shoes and a small section of seasonal household decor. Yesterday, I bought several gifts. The store was decorated with a pianist playing Christmas music. I found exactly what wanted and an associate carefully took the information for wrapping and sending. I saw several other things I wanted, including Christmas outfits for my granddaughters. I left without buying, but later in the day decided my girls needed those outfits. I called the store and Deidreana found the outfits and put them on hold until I got back over there. The outfits were even on sale. Returns/exchanges are easy. They put gift receipts in each package. The store is always immaculate and has lovely restrooms. There is plenty of parking around the store, although parking fills during the holiday shopping season. I recommend and will probably go back this week myself.

The primary reason I usually end up at a Kohl's is to check out the clearance men's aisle for…read moreclothing. As someone who is awkwardly shaped (C'mon. You've met me. You know it's true.), I like that Kohl's typically carries big n' tall sizes (though, let's face it. I'm far from tall. I'm more like "big n' awkward," but no one's thought to make that clothing line yet). This location is in the Union Chapel area just down a bit from Fashion Mall. This is an older location that also houses a Sephora. Both Kohl's and Sephora have a rewards program - both are honored here. This strip center includes a few places I enjoy including Maple (breakfast/brunch; formerly known as Le Peep), Smallcakes, McAlister's, Ulta, Game Preserve and others. I keep saying I'm going to Terra Gaucha, but I haven't made it there yet. Back to Kohl's. At today's visit, only the right side doors were open. It seemed they were pretty lightly staffed. The people here are typically pretty friendly, though you'll never get through without being asked about rewards and if you want Kohl's credit. I used to massively avoid Kohl's due to accessibility issues - it has improved quite a bit. The carts have also improved. If you're going from one end of the strip center to the other (Kohl's is on one end), then as a wheelchair user you will have to leave the sidewalk. This strip center seems to allow/encourage sidewalk obstacles; thus, I'm nearly always in the street unless I move my car. The clothing selection is solid, though price points wildly vary. However, the clearance section really can go into clearance. For example, today I bought two pairs of shorts and a t-shirt for $16 total. I was quite pleased with all three. I've never checked out dressing rooms, though these days I typically push my luck as transfers are a bit more difficult. This is a solid mid-range experience. I'd actually hoped to find a microwave today, though I really didn't see anything that grabbed me. In fact, other than clearance I seldom buy anything else here. But hey, if you're awkwardly shaped like me Kohl's is a place to try out. I typically don't see them go much over 2-3x, though I did see some 4x shirts.

I did find clean and tidy bathrooms, aisles, and overall well managed place yet still seriously lacking fair compensation to employees as is this oppressive corporation. But I have done most of my grocery shopping elsewhere. Looking to trim budgets, I've started shopping at this location after a recent move and I have to say, I am overall impressed with this store in terms of grocery selection. Most stuff on my list are in stock, and at competitive prices. There's some annoying things here or there. I think the price of ground beef is often just as expensive at comparable stores. Certain higher-end items like Ezekiel bread products are MUCH higher. The cereal I was buying here had a sudden 20 cent price jump, so now I get it from Aldi. But overall, the prices are what you expect from a typical Walmart. What has really shocked me, in a good way, is the produce selection. Collared greens and cabbage are very good at least as of Nov 2025, and I'm seeing them constantly being restocked. Store seems to be decently clean. I am going to knock off a star for the parking lot. It is very dimly lit, and honestly gives an unsafe feeling. The area is fine but they could really use some lighting. It doesn't help that the McDonald's in the same area closed, so you're often parked by a very closed, dark building.
