I placed my order on Jan. 4 and didn't get my ready for pickup email until Jan. 15, which I thought was a little slow--but it wasn't something I needed urgently, so I let that slide. The ready for pickup email had a convenient link to allow me to choose between coming inside to pick up the item or using their curbside service. I decided to try curbside, pulled into one of their clearly-marked spaces in the parking lot (this area is in the large parking lot that is shared with Ulta, Red Robin, etc. - not on the other side of the building), and told them which space I was parked in. I waited about 10 minutes and then checked the web page I'd used to check in. There was an error in red that said "We're having some trouble, please continue to wait or try again later." I decided to just go inside to see if I could quickly grab my item, but the lines were really long, so I just left and went home. About 5 minutes later, I got a call from a JCP associate apologizing for not being able to get my item out to me more quickly. I wasn't able to run back over there, but I went back the next day and repeated the curbside process, and this time I had my item within minutes. Overall, I think this was a positive experience and think it's a good place to consider when you're shopping around for bargains--they often seem to have really good sales and coupons on top of those sales.

During our visit, I encountered an employee who was not wearing a name tag and was extremely rude and disrespectful toward my daughters. My daughters were checking out immediately after me, which is something I have been encouraging them to do because they are at an age where I feel it is important for them to learn independence and become comfortable handling simple responsibilities on their own. Unfortunately, instead of being patient and helpful, this employee spoke to them in a way that I found completely unacceptable. As a parent, it was very upsetting to watch someone treat my children this way when they were simply trying to complete their purchase. I understand that employees deal with many customers throughout the day, but there is no reason for a child to be treated disrespectfully, especially when they are making an effort to learn and become more independent. I have always enjoyed shopping at JCPenney and have had positive experiences with your staff in the past, which is why this interaction was particularly disappointing. I hope this matter can be addressed appropriately so that other customers, especially children, do not have a similar experience.

My 15 year old was able to find a couple dresses that she liked and a bodysuit. She was on a mission to find something in yellow, but she did not like the floral prints that kept popping up. My 11 year old, whose style is much different than her older sister, did not really find anything that grabbed her attention. She found herself browsing the more professional looking area of the store with me, but only left with a couple of button-up sleeveless blouses that were on clearance near the window of the store. Oddly enough, I purchased two of those blouses for work as well! They were only $4, so I couldn't resist. I've worn them both to work and they are perfect for a business-casual setting in the height of an Indiana Summer (which is hot and humid!). I also purchased some costume jewelry, most of which was deeply discounted, which is very good because some of it has already begun turning colors from minimal wear. I don't think I'll purchase jewelry there again. All and all, considering that this is a "fast fashion" store, the prices were decent and the staff with friendly. We will return to shop here again.
