Ciro's Pizza has been around quite a long time. If I remember correctly, they used to be on one of the shops along the main building at the Dominion Square Shopping Center before they took over the old Long John Silver space where they're currently at. The food used to be impeccably good - a favorite in this town. But, having patronized this place several times over the years - I'll say that the quality has dipped significantly and it's a darn shame because it's really hard to get decent pizza in this town. We'd normally get a regular large cheese pizza and it was always cooked to perfection back then, but now the cheese tastes off and the overall quality of the pizza just isn't there anymore. The location itself has seen better days too. I've been there on multiple occasions where there's a putrid smell coming from somewhere within the place. It's not every time, but it's enough to be noticeable. Above all else, the staff has always been kind here. I've never had anyone be rude here. It's just the shame the food quality hasn't kept up with the service standard. Holding out hopes that there's better days ahead for Ciro's. read more

Just a quick update to continue to confirm Ciro's as our local Italian "go to". After enjoying yesterday's "Culpeper Christmas Tree Lighting" festivities, stopped by Ciro's to pick up a couple of their "Chicken Parm" subs for a quick dinner. And once again, they were excellent! Large, thick, juicy, lightly-breaded chicken breasts enhanced by their deliciously tangy marinara & covered with plentiful gooey melted mozzarella. Really hit the spot after the chilly afternoon/evening. And it's really nice to call the order in & be able to pay for & pick it up at their little drive-thru window. Building was previously some fast-food joint, & when Ciro's took over & renovated the place, they decided to keep the drive-thru, which proved to be fantastic economic foresight when the pandemic hit. Delightful drive-thru gal was friendly & with a great smile, & lately we've found that everyone there is friendly & with a great smile. In fact, the last time husband picked up a pizza there, the young gentleman even popped his head out & asked if he wanted grated Parmesan &/or crushed red pepper on it!! Now that's real takeout service - lol!! Bottom Line: Well-spent $18, terrific food, & just had to add the fifth star as a complement for really pleasant service. read more

Haven't been to Cirp's since pre-Covid. Had two meals recently, the first was bad the second no improvement. First, the Alfredo sauce has been thinned down to the consistency of milk I did the second the carbonara sauce had slices of deli ham cut into quarters as a substitute for bacon/ pancetta. The restaurant's Neapolitan forbears would be spinning in their grave if they knew! I also concur with previous reviewers that management needs to train their servers. It is not fair on the girls to launch them at customers with a little or no training. I tipped well, not for the service.but in sympathy for the server! read more

My family likes to do take out from here, we are a family of 6 (when all the kids are home) and order the 1/2 family platter of spaghetti and meatballs and it comes with a tray of salad and a tray of garlic bread. We feed all 6 of us for $50 and have leftovers. It is all super yummy with giant meatballs and warm bread and we like their homemade itialian dressing. read more

I really like this place; food is good, typical menu for a basic Italian restaurant. Due to covid, servers are kids like most places nowadays and most could stand to learn how to be more sociable and professional but things are what they are now. I was staying with family in town when I visited Ciro's, as they are big regulars to the restaurant. We were a group of three adults and three kids. It wasn't intuitive whether or not you should seat yourself, but after I did so while waiting for the rest of my party, I had someone come up to me and move me to a large table for the group. Debatably, the menu has too many options. I almost always go for a pepperoni calzone at a new (for me) Italian restaurant, so that's what I ordered. It was good--nothing fancy or particularly notable, but it was tasty. I wished it had been a bit hotter in temperature, and had some garlic on the crust or something to make it a bit less dry. My tiramisu cake for dessert was heavy, but traditionally flavored. I would've preferred a true tiramisu option, especially since there were other cake flavors too. We had excellent service throughout the meal. I appreciate a simple, family-run restaurant with memorable staff like this one. This is why I view it as 4-stars as opposed to 3, which is what it would have been had I based the score solely on the food. read more

Nice service and staff. Terrible food. I threw my pizza out. It was so covered in garlic that it made me sick to eat. It tasted like someone pulled it out of a garbage can. After I got there I remembered I had their pizza a few years ago and didn't like it then either. Nice place for some, apparently. So make your own decision. I'm Italian. Just so you know...the last time we got what was what we thought was the absolute best Pizza in Culpeper, I was faced with a troubling sign on display in the drive through window. People who paid cash for their pizza got a 3.5 % discount on their purchase. On the other hand, I was informed that other people, like myself, who paid with a credit/debit card were to be charged a 3.5% Other Than Cash ()???) charge. When I expressed my concerns with the cashier on duty, I was met with condescension and the retort that "Everybody Does That, Sir" My retort to that is, "no they don't ". read more

Used to rave about this place to everyone . Stopped in recently for their fantastic Chicken Parm and Eggplant Parm dinners. What a disappointment. The chicken that used to be an authentic cutlet fried and sauced was now a preformed patty you would find on your fast food chicken sandwich with a drop of sauce on top. The Fried Eggplant was soggy and slimy. The side of spaghetti was dry and under-sauced. Ordered a pizza and thankfully that didn't change its still very good so I'll give 3 stars for that and the side salad . Dont know what happened to this place? New Owner? New Chef? Always great food! From pizza to pasta to sandwiches, you cannot go wrong with Ciro's!

I drove around all of Culpeper looking for somewhere to eat before ascending into the Shenandoah National Forest. It's an up-and-coming town just now getting several of the big chain restaurants (some of which haves signs and buildings up but aren't open yet), but it hasn't yet evolved into a place that can support the better mom 'n' shops. Ciro's seems to be about the only one with a legit reputation for good food. So I stopped in and tried the chicken cheesesteak. The atmosphere is very small town with a touch of redneck. Don't expect any frills. And the decor must be 30 years old or more. However, the bathrooms were relatively clean. The setup needs work -- you walk down a long dark corridor to a bar that serves as the place where you order, pick up, maybe pay (not sure, just left cash on the table because it wasn't really apparent) and it's also RIGHT UP against the kitchen. You'll get run over by employees going in and out of the drink refill station, silverware storage and kitchen while trying to place your order. Once you navigate your way into making an order, you just seat yourself (even though you'll get a server who will refill your drink from time to time). The sandwich was very, very good. The chicken was cooked perfectly, of good quality and sliced in the right manner for a cheesesteak. The toppings were all ratioed well, though the sandwich needs peppers and not just onions to be legit. The size is great for the price, although it's disappointing that sandwiches don't come with fries. I ordered a side of fries, which were just frozen Ore-Ida crinkle fries the best I could tell. The service was friendly and fast, and the food is good. The layout, atmosphere and processes need some work, and they need to pair items on the menu better and consider upping the side item game. I'd go here again if I'm ever in Culpeper, but only if something else hasn't opened to try. It's tasty but not a destination joint. read more

Went here solo before seeing a movie on a Saturday night. There was no host/hostess at the entrance, and no signage announcing seating arrangements, so I walked into the queue for counter service. A young lady then asked if she could help me (not behind the counter), and looked confounded when I asked for a dine-in meal. Once I was seated and issued a menu, things went better. The food was as expected for a non-chain Italian restaurant/Pizza joint, and the service met my standards. Definitely a good little place to stop when in town. read more

Maybe I walked inside to eat with high expectatiins being from out of town and hungry. I ordered a small house pizza and a veal scallopini parmesean. The entree came with a salad. It only had one small cherry tomato and it came with a green olive. Unfortunately, I waited 15 minutes for silverware. The pizza and veal entree came out together. I looked at the veal and realized it was prebreaded veal cutlets under the sauce and cheese. That isn't what I wanted and sent it back. A gentleman came out, was very nice and I explained had I known they were prebreaded veal cutlets I wouldn't have ordered them. He said even their chicken is prebreaded. Well, either the cook doesn't know how to cook chicken and veal breading it themselves, or they are cutting corners to make a buck. Unfortunately, in the long run, cutting corners won't keep the lights on. The pizza was supposed to be neopolitan style but was soggy with alot of flop. The sausage on the pizza was that sliced up tasteless sausage and the hamburger was from a frozen bag, not fresh. I ate two pizzas because i was hungry, paid my bill and left. By the way, they did remove the veal entree from the ticket. Best thing I ate was that green olive on the salad plate. The reason I gave Ciros two stars, the staff was so friendly. read more

Ciro' s continues to be the best pizza in the area. Of course not as good as New York but very good for Virginia. Their new location is so much better and a convient stop when driving through town. I really wanted to try this place. I drive past it all the time and I've heard really great things. Anyways, the other day my friend and I walked into the restaurant, we were seated and that's the last time we saw an employee come to our table. We looked at the menu for so long and we had changed our mind about 4 times trying to decide what to order. Other people were coming in and being helped right away. I was waving around my hand and my menu trying to get someone to come over. Finally, we got up and left. I do not recommend this place to dine in. I will give them another chance because I really do want to try their food. But I will never be dining in again. Terrible service. I don't think we even got drinks! read more

I've dined at Ciro's for the last 6 years and the last few times I was there, it went downhill. Their wine supply is ridiculous for an Italian restaurant. They have boxed wine and only 5 selections. Of course red wine is the most popular wine when eating Italian food and they were out of it the last 2 times I was there. Most recently, the Merlot I got had turned and tasted awful! I asked for the Chianti and was told they don't have any. I brought my 6 year old granddaughter with me and we ordered garlic knots, the kids lasagna and a pizza. The garlic knots were twisted bread with chopped garlic plopped on top, not baked into the bread. The lasagna noodles were thick and not cooked all the way through. Half way through our meal, my granddaughter had to use the restroom. It was disgusting. The garbage can was putrid with who knows what on the outside! When we finished with our meal, I told the very nice new server that I wanted to talk to someone about these issues. Onofrio came out, who I've seen every time I'm there, and I shared my disappointment with him. He said that people didn't like the garlic baked into the knots so they stopped. He said the lasagna noodles are cooked al dente since it has to be baked. So they must have been raw noodles if it came out al dente after being baked! I complained about the wine and he said perhaps the wine was bad when they got it. Really? He didn't apologize and seemed defensive. All I said was ok, I get it, and he walked away without saying a word. Needless to say, I won't be returning. read more

Hands down the BEST pizza in Culpeper. Their almost, so close to jersey boardwalk pizza. Sauce needs some fine tuning and when you order a pizza ask them to leave it in a little longer. Melts the cheese really well and the crust gets extra crispy. Love, love, love their sausage pizza lots of sausage and good ratio of cheese. Anti pasta was jst okay along with their garden salad. It's a salad what more do you want. Dressing comes in little plastic cups to go. Calzone... No matter which one or combination you ask for... it's still really well done. Their wait staff is generally really nice and prompt and helpful. Had one issue with one of the guys finding out if my order was ready, he went back to check. Came back upfront no pizza didn't say anything to me just kept doing busy work with his back to me. One of the regular girls came up a few seconds later asked if I was being helped. I said no, guy turned around said I was waiting on a pizza. I looked at him and said really would have been nice to have been told that when you came back up here after checking. He turned really red in the face sad he was sorry about that. The girl said she was sorry about that. Only putting this in here cause when the guys work the counter roommate and I tend to have issues with our orders. Side order of French fries cooked, put onto the pizza, then baked... Kinda wish I got that pizza now i bet it would have tasted amazing. I ordered shrimp alfredo and fries but when I got home to eat it, the fries didn't have any seasoning on them and the alfredo was bland. It was like the sauce was out of a jar and the shrimp didn't have any type of seasoning. Update 2/25: I went back to give them another try and it was the same... Bland alfredo and the chicken parmesan were horrible. I don't understand how a restaurant can remain in business with serving food that has no taste. I can make food that has more flavor. My wife & stopped in for a late lunch and had great tasting pizza! Sauce is top notch as other reviewers have noted. The waitress was very nice and attentive. Grabbed a pizza from here this weekend and I was not disappointed! We got a large pepperoni and mushroom pie. The mushrooms were fresh, which is a huge for me! And the pizza seemed to have extra cheese on it... or maybe that's just how they make it, either way it was mouth watering! The crust was nice and fluffy as well! This place has great food and reasonable prices. Their downfall is in cleanliness. The bathroom is nothing short of gross. Multi color paint, trash cans that gal have years worth of dirt on the outside. A little bit of cleaning goes a long way. read more
