We've eaten takeout pizza from Pete's a handful of times and every single time I've never really been impressed by the pizza. The first time we ever ordered it, it was incredibly greasy (dripping off the pizza) and the cheese didn't taste all that good. I've never eaten inside, but it's a little fascinating to see because the interior reminds me a lot of how the 80s looked like - which I think works for the location, but it might need to be cleaned up a bit to keep that 80s aesthetic intact. I've only interacted with the folks at the counter the few times I've gone in and ordered. Sometimes they're really nice, sometimes they don't say hi or hello and just get you to pay for your food and off you go. I think it's important to note that this place has been around for 45+ years so there's something special here that's worth visiting and checking out for yourself. read more

When I walked from outside into this place it was really cool brought me back in time to some younger childhood memories. It made me think of some old times when I was younger and went to a roller skating ring. The mood was so cool. Felt like I was in an older pizza shop, not modern but back in time a little. I love places like this. Makes u happy and think of old memories which is a delight. I walked in cashier and staff were very friendly, welcoming and just warm. We order 2 large pizzas. And they tasted pretty Dec eat good. I would definitely recommend anyone passing by to stop by and try it out. I am willing to give this place another try in the future...maybe a couple months. :( My boyfriend went to order for us this weekend and told the workers we were vegan. We tried getting a pizza with just sauce, basil, and some garlic, but ended up finding out that they don't offer garlic or basil-- which I hadn't heard of in a pizza place until now. They had onion, so he said we'd take a little of that...it ended up being the entire pizza. It was really hard to eat, and we're currently disassembling it and going to the store to buy sauce and the toppings we couldn't get earlier. The crust was okay, 6.5/10. The sauce was mediocre but there was hardly any on the pizza, so it's hard to say. Again, I'm willing to try again and hope to be able to update this review! A spice selection would be an awesome addition if getting vegan cheese was too difficult for some reason. :) (I'm also aware that this isn't a vegan establishment-- just being told a vegan option could be made seems silly when this was the result, after specifying what we wanted and then it not being available.) read more

Pete's Pizza is a small business located in Culpeper VA. I called in a carry out order for a large pepperoni pizza and a large supreme pizza. The woman told me that my order would be ready in twenty minutes and hung up immediately. Ok, so in twenty minutes I went to pick it up. The woman at the counter got my two pizzas and rang me up. My total for two pizza's was $59.77!!!! I thought that maybe she had the wrong order. Nope. It's $32 for a supreme pizza.... THIRTY-TWO DOLLARS for an average large supreme pizza. I paid about $60 for two pizza's. I explained to her that this is the most I've ever paid for two pizza's. Her reply was, "Sorry, hun, the price of things are going up." We are from NY and the quality of this product is terrible. Greasy and undercooked. Their medium pizza is the size of a small and the price of a large. I ordered mushrooms on mine because I love them, they are canned. Like pickled slimy slugs. Gross. Made the whole pizza soggy. The older woman working the counter picked up out baklava with her bare hands and finger nails. The dough was over cooked and the crusted was hard and burned. Overall, unsatisfactory and will not be returning. Someone needs to have a health inspector visit this place, because picking up peoples food with their bare hands and nails ain't it, especially during Covid. Okay - we thoroughly enjoyed our recent pizza from Pete's (see previous review). So, since my husband is a HUGE Calzone fan, we decided to give those a try last night. Now I feel that I MUST preface this by saying that I have ALWAYS been a Calzone hater. Always. Huge pockets of horrible, bland, thick, doughy dough enclosing gooey bland ingredients. And thanks to my husband's love for them, I've gotten to "enjoy" the leftovers more than a number of times for lunch. Ugh. Thus, it was with a LOT of trepidation that - along with my husband - I ordered a takeout Calzone from Pete's last night. I have now been Calzone-reborn. Talk about a revelation!!! We ordered "make your owns". Hubby ordered "chicken, mushroom, & cheese"; I ordered "spinach, olive, feta, & mozzarella". You have NEVER seen Calzones like this!! First of all - forget the huge thick doughy nonsense. These Calzones are enclosed in a thin pizza-dough-type crust, & are presented scored (not sliced all the way through) into four portions. Husband's was chock full of chicken, mushrooms, & cheese; mine was just as overstuffed with mozzarella, feta, FRESH cooked spinach (you can tell!!), & sliced black olives. We have NEVER had Calzones like this. NEVER. And we're born-&-bred New Yorkers who have frequented the city's finest as far as pizza & its ilk. If I have to ding the experience at all, it would be that the teensy-tinesy plastic cup of EXCELLENT marinara sauce supplied for dipping was only enough for half of each calzone. Two cups per order would have been better. (One caveat: I found out when placing our order via phone, that the online menu is extremely outdated as to selections/prices, etc. Had originally planned to order the "Greek Calzone", only to find they no longer offer it, so ordering over the phone to sort of recreate it was a bit confusing. I went a couple years ago and got sick to my stomach after we ate our dinner I noticed the bottom of the parmesan cheese shaker was green and fuzzy and it was not just the one at my table. When I brought it to someones attention they just shrugged. It had been over 2 years so we decided to give them another try. The pizza was great, but the lasagna was nasty, plain and simple. The salad was just lettuce in a bowl. It was dark and out dated. The staff didn't feel the need to even smile when we walked in or as we were leaving. "It's Saturday night and you all know I'm not cooking!" are the words said by my grandmother whenever we are visiting her. Now, I am sad and excited at the same time because I LOVE her cooking, but since it's a Saturday night we get to order steak subs from Pete's Pizza!!! You're probably wondering why I am in awe of their steak subs when "PIZZA" is in the restaurant's name. Well, I have only had their pizza a couple of times and I cannot remember how good or bad or average or stellar the pizza was. So I recommend just going there and trying it on your own. However, I do know about their steak subs and I have NEVER had a complaint about them. Everyone in my family will eat them for dinner Saturday night, from my grandparents, uncles/aunts, cousins, parents and brother and it has become a tradition of ours to order steak subs from Pete's whenever we are in town to visit. I will continue to go back every time I am in town and as long as Pete's Pizza is open. If you're in Culpeper, stop by and get a steak sub, you will love it! read more

I visited Pete's Pizza Thursday December 10, me and my service dog and three other people, as I entered the restaurant an employee from across the room loudly stated that I couldn't bring my dog in. I said oh it's ok she's my service dog, he again said NO DOGS, I said by law she is allowed to be with me! He again said NO DOGS, the woman behind the counter, barely looking up stated loudly NO DOGS! We went around like this a few more times. I then said I would report them, the woman said WELL SIT DOWN THEN! Of course we didn't eat there. My service dog is my lifeline to enjoying simple pleasures like getting a pizza or doing Christmas shopping, without her it would not be possible for me. I was loudly disrespected and treated rudely in front of four other customers who were trying to enjoy their food. Just moving here, we decided to check Pete's out as they state they're the best in town. Not sure who they paid off for that award, but the pizza was terrible. So bad. The sauce was beyond tart and the crust was just sad. The service is absolutely despicable. The woman taking orders is beyond rude and unhelpful. The only reason I am not rating 5 stars is the décor. If your primary concern is food, then you have no cause for concern. Pete's is the best pizza in Culpeper. Period. Best prices on real pizza by a mile because their pizzas are huge. A large pizza here is not 14 inches. They say 17 inches, but they always come out as 18 inches, which is almost twice as big as a 14 inch pizza. Do the math! Their calzones are excellent as is the Greek salad, Baklava and Loukamadis. This is a family owned restaurant that has been in the same location for 36+ years. Very friendly people and the pizza really is awesome. Real dough, not something that is formed in a machine. All you have to do, if you can't tell by the taste and chew, is to look at the bottom of your pizza. read more
