As soon as we walked in the door, my wife and I were instantly charmed by Far Gohn. We were on a…read moreweekend trip in Shenandoah for our anniversary and craving a cozy local spot for a pizza and a beer. Far Gohn hit it out of the park. Definitely a local tavern...they reminded me more of the pubs you find in a small European town or the UK. Warm, cozy, and inviting. We immediately felt at home. Now to the people who complain here that they were "ignored" by the bartenders or that service took forever...read: local spot. If you're from out of town and you're expecting rushed service and the immediacy of the big city, this might not be the place for you. But if you're looking for something truly special, slide up to the bar. Be patient...the bartender will be there as soon as they're done listening to Old Bill tell his story. Order a beer and a pizza and take a seat at one of their small tables. Enjoy and unhurried drink. And right about the time you're feeling like ordering a second beer, your hot, delicious, perfectly cooked pizza will be dropping out of the ceiling on a dumb waiter (yes, from the ceiling...you read that right). Smother it in locally made hot sauce (an unexpected plus), grab your second beer and enjoy that delicious pizza with someone you love, or the new friend you made at the table next to you. But for God's sake, be patient, be kind, be respectful. Cause you're likely visiting, and Far Gohn is all about the local vibe!!

I've been to Far Gohn a few times with friends and it's become a bit of a staple in the town…read more There's quite a few people who are regulars there and there's this unique vibe to the place that really makes it stand out from everywhere else. That being said, there's some issues with it that are hard to overlook. I'll start by saying that the staff are mostly really kind and professional. There have been one or two who looked like they hated their jobs, but everyone else has been attentive. There's not a whole lot of seating space available at this location. So, if you're trying to visit during peak hours, it might be a bit difficult. There's some outside seating available, but if it's raining or anything, it's not recommended. The chief problem I've had is with the pizza. Nevermind the fact a German style brewery is making pizzas - the pizzas themselves are an absolute hit or miss, with most of the time being misses. The pizzas are overpriced for how inconsistent the quality is. They're either just right or super crunchy and inedible. If you're ordering to-go, add 10-20 minutes to the wait time they give you and that's how long it'll actually take. If you're here for a decent brew, it's a decent brewery with a bit of a following in Culpeper and it's worth checking out. I'd steer clear of the pizzas.

Ciro's Pizza E Cucina - Garlic bread had spots that were soaked in oil and others parts that were plain bread.

Ciro's Pizza has been around quite a long time. If I remember correctly, they used to be on one of…read morethe shops along the main building at the Dominion Square Shopping Center before they took over the old Long John Silver space where they're currently at. The food used to be impeccably good - a favorite in this town. But, having patronized this place several times over the years - I'll say that the quality has dipped significantly and it's a darn shame because it's really hard to get decent pizza in this town. We'd normally get a regular large cheese pizza and it was always cooked to perfection back then, but now the cheese tastes off and the overall quality of the pizza just isn't there anymore. The location itself has seen better days too. I've been there on multiple occasions where there's a putrid smell coming from somewhere within the place. It's not every time, but it's enough to be noticeable. Above all else, the staff has always been kind here. I've never had anyone be rude here. It's just the shame the food quality hasn't kept up with the service standard. Holding out hopes that there's better days ahead for Ciro's.

Just a quick update to continue to confirm Ciro's as our local Italian "go to"…read more After enjoying yesterday's "Culpeper Christmas Tree Lighting" festivities, stopped by Ciro's to pick up a couple of their "Chicken Parm" subs for a quick dinner. And once again, they were excellent! Large, thick, juicy, lightly-breaded chicken breasts enhanced by their deliciously tangy marinara & covered with plentiful gooey melted mozzarella. Really hit the spot after the chilly afternoon/evening. And it's really nice to call the order in & be able to pay for & pick it up at their little drive-thru window. Building was previously some fast-food joint, & when Ciro's took over & renovated the place, they decided to keep the drive-thru, which proved to be fantastic economic foresight when the pandemic hit. Delightful drive-thru gal was friendly & with a great smile, & lately we've found that everyone there is friendly & with a great smile. In fact, the last time husband picked up a pizza there, the young gentleman even popped his head out & asked if he wanted grated Parmesan &/or crushed red pepper on it!! Now that's real takeout service - lol!! Bottom Line: Well-spent $18, terrific food, & just had to add the fifth star as a complement for really pleasant service.

Few times already got a text that my order is ready for pickup, and it's not when I show up. so I usually end up waiting for 10-15 minutes. But today they didn't even know they had my order until someone found the info somewhere in the kitchen that has gone unnoticed by the staff. Asked me to wait for 7-10 minutes, I ended up waiting there for 30 minutes. No apologies, nothing, left my order at the counter for me to go and get it myself while they saw me sitting at the nearby table. I understand they may be busy, but why accept orders trough the App if you have no capacity to handle them? Unfortunately, have to start ordering from other places that are farther from us, but I'll still save time on waiting for my orders that are late.

Also, there was a couple waiting to order that she hadn't given a menu yet. She had to tell whoever she was talking to on the phone to hold on so she could take care of this couple. But not once did she ever hang the phone up! You could hear all the activity on her phone that was going on in the background from whomever she was talking too. And another employee came out to ask about an order that she took over the phone and that person leaned over and said hello whoever was on her phone. Go figure. I guess it's a good thing they were not really busy! But the principle of this review is that she was unprofessional and that's bad for business!

However that info is irrelevant. What is relevant is the fact that the person taking the order on the phone was given the credit card information and responded with "that Will delivered in about 25-35 minutes. At 7:25 we had not received our order. My wife called to inquire and was told that there was no such order made and my wife expressed her concern that someone took her order and her credit card information. The manager was not helpful and suggested we check to see if the charges were sent through. Did not offer ANY kind of resolution. I called a few minutes after she had finished talking with the manager who was discourteous. Before calling the store I had investigated the suggested actions to take to resolve an issue. I also read the company values and mission statement and the manager did NOT meet ANY of the missions statements set by your company. I asked him to give me the local franchise owners information and he refused. I reminded him that the online directions for complaint resolution from your company directed me to ask for that information but he refused and hung up on me in mid sentence. Your manager NEVER ONCE, offered a resolution and was rude, disrespectful and dismissive of the fact that someone in his store made an error. The placement of this caliber of person in charge of others and store management is an error in judgment. While I know establishments like yours doesn't really care about losing one customer after patronizing this particular establishment for more than 16 years and being totally dismissed we shall NEVER PATRONIZE dominos pizza ever again. one star rating because -5 wasn't an option William L.
