I love Pizza, in fact it is my favorite food. When I eat a lot of wheat I get a stomach ache and I feel pretty bad so I avoid it. We read the reviews and it looked really decent. My boyfriend and I came for lunch and both ordered gluten free options. I got the pizza with veggies and pepperoni and he got lasagne. We were completely mind blown. My boyfriend normally eats wheat, and even he thought it was one of the best pizzas he's ever had. I was almost sad when it was gone. We were seated outside on the sidewalk patio which is decorated with little lights and accentuated by the charm of the little city. The server immediately greeted us and brought olives and bread. They have a full bar as well as a great wine list. We ordered Vodka cocktails as we had already spent 4 days drinking wine in Rome. Drinks came out fast and were strong. We started with the Calamari. It was tender and not chewy. The batter was light and perfectly salted. I ordered the garlic, lobster spaghetti and my husband ordered the Eggplant Parmigiana. Both dishes were seasoned perfectly and the pasta was fresh made and al dente. The Eggplant is traditional without noodles. They have gluten free options too! The dishes were so good and light that we contemplated ordering another dish but decided to get gelato instead. read more

We loved Ciro and Sons so much we went back 3, maybe 4 times during our 5 days in Florence. And we don't tend to repeat restaurants.... I am gluten and dairy free, and I had so much to choose from! The best salad I had in all of Europe, delicious GF bread/flatbread/garlic bread, and pasta with vegan pesto YUM. No one else in my family is GF but everyone else enjoyed the good so much that THEY were the ones who suggested we return the 2nd and 3rd times. I'd read reviews about how their touristy or whatever, so I had planned to skip this restaurant. Fortunately we wound up here anyway because it was one of the culinary highlights. I could not rave enough about this restaurant! I was in Florence for 9 days and this is the only restaurant I went to more than once (other than gelato shops) because I loved it so much. First of all, if you think of American pizza when in Italian, you will not get that! I wouldn't even compare the two because they are two different foods. Anyways, this place is owned by a family from Naples (the home of Neapolitan pizza) and the sons work in the restaurant. The staff was incredible and friendly. Every time I went I got the Diavolo pizza which was tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil and spicy salami. If I could order this pizza all the way from Italy I would, it was delicious. I sat both inside and and outside and both settings were beautiful. Great location right next to the Medici chapel. Their tiramisu was also simple and delicious. Absolutely delicious lunch! We originally came here because one of my friends is gluten free and they're known to have many options. The decor inside is fancy and upscale feeling, but the prices are inexpensive and very affordable. A large chandelier on the ceiling was a beautiful touch. I got the artichoke tart with was loaded with flavor, tiny but very filling. Surrounded by fresh greens that were certainly not the "throw away" salad many restaurants offer. My friend also enjoyed her gluten free pasta, and, as a gluten-lover, and can even say that it was very close to the real thing. I'll definitely be coming back to try more of the menu! read more

If you're looking for an Americanized experience, this is your place. Of the two dozens of restaurants in Italy we've been to, never has a restaurant brought us our bill before we asked. They barely took our plates, asked if we wanted dessert and once we said "No" they brought us the check without us finishing our drinks. Unacceptable! The pizza was ok. They were known for their Napoleon style pizza. It was above average. Crust was good, but because they sliced the pizza it became soggy really fast. For those looking for an authentic experience , Italians don't serve their pizzas sliced! And after rude service and average food, your bill includes an automatic 15% gratuity. Certainly not a problem if they deserved it, but not in this case! read more

If you don't know what it is, it's a huge cut of meat. Tipping over the Flintstones' car huge. This was my absolute favorite restaurant in all of Florence and one of my favorite in Italy. They have a great outdoor patio, attentive service, and a prime location right near the center of town. You can get to it quickly from the train station on your way to the Duomo. They serve Bistecca alla Florentina, the local Florentine specialty. We did not get it because you have to get a minimum amount of steak. It was far too much for the two of us. If you are with a group of people, it would be a great share dish. Since we didn't get the bistecca, we opted for a steak served with a balsamic cream sauce and strawberries. It was delicious! We also had the gnocci with fresh mozzerella....best pasta dish I had in Italy. So yummy! For dessert we had the most delicious tiramisu ever. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! read more

Many gluten free options (pizza, pasta ) which is super helpful when traveling with gluten free and celiac people. Celiacs REJOICE! This is where you want to eat in Florence. We had great service and the waiter was so nice. When I told him I couldn't believe his delicious food was gluten free, he even brought out a bag of the flour they use to bake the bread (best gluten free bread I've ever tasted!) to show me. I like this place. Nice casual dining spot. Really nice outdoor seating area. It's typical sidewalk location, but with some decor, cushioned seating and a bit of a barrier from the rest of the streetscape. The place is a little Americanized, but the food is still fantastic. Great service as well. I didn't order from the menu... just had the waiter suggest something for me. He took the instruction to the kitchen and they made a very good pappardelle/sauce/protein combo. I loved it. I saw the Bistecca Fiorentina going to another table, and was a little bummed I didn't order it. It looked and smelled amazing - yes, I am a food creeper. If you're in the neighborhood, Ciro is a terrific option. I don't know that I'd cross town to get to it, but it's a solid play if you're in the area. read more

Best tiramisu that we got in Firenze! The ladyfingers were so soaked in coffee that it dripped, and the portion was enough for me and my sister. We were here twice in 3 days in April 2018. The first time we were sitting outside (fantastic people watching spot) and the second time we were inside (a bit livelier). I got the gluten free (senza glutine) 4 cheese pizza the first time and - frankly - it might have been the best gluten free pizza I've ever had. The second time I got the gluten free Lasagne alla Bolognese and it was also very delicious! The service here is fantastic and those olives that they bring out as a free starter are SO GOOD. I could eat just a giant jar of those olives for dinner (I assume this is frowned upon, yes?). They also brought out some regular table bread and some gluten free table bread for us to enjoy. For what you're getting and the location, the prices are actually really reasonable. In high tourist season, it would probably be a good idea to make reservations as this place is famous in Florence for its gluten free food. They also had many lactose free options. read more

We ordered two pizzas and two drinks - I got one of the specialty pies with a large piece of buffalo mozzarella in the middle and my bf got the four cheese pizza. Flavors were good but my pizza was just incredibly wet if that makes sense. The toppings were just sliding all over the place and it was nearly impossible to cut as the middle was quite soggy. They really aren't lying when they say they make the worlds best gluten free pizza. It is so good! They also have lactose free cheese that you can get which was really good. I was with at group of friends and we ended up going there three nights for dinner. Yes three nights and each time the meal was very good and our waiter, Guiseppe was happy to see us each time. The first time and second time I went I ordered the pear and cheese ravioli. Delish!!and the third time I order the lasagna. Everyone at my table each night really enjoyed their dishes. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Words or pics or reviews won't do the food or the service or the cute staff justice...honestly. I'm really sensitive to gluten, but not celiac....and just before my sister and I came here for dinner, I threw a mega adult tantrum. I felt like I was compromising me eating in Italy, and finding anything other than wine and penne-GF pasta was impossible. Then..this wonderful restaurant happened. The kitchen, cooking technique and surfaces and prep staff are all separate for GF orders.my sister (NOT GF ) and I ate so much!!!I had artichoke PASTRY,RAVIOLI,and the best PIZZA I've ever had. The table next to us, a member was Italian l, ordered the GF bolognese...and he couldn't tell the difference!!! The table next to us ate there multiple times while in florence. The restaurant has GF tiramisu/cheesecake/crepe with nutella /creme brulee and more desserts. I ate so much I had to skip the desert lol!!!we ordered pizza to go for breakfast for our train ride to Rome the next day. My sis left her card in the folder and we were down the street and one of the sons ran us down to give it to us!!nice but not everyone would do it!****additional Un biased opinion....we ran into a mother of a child with celiac who was leaving the restaurant, and they said it was amazing and had eaten there multiple times***. Excellent, excellent gluten-free pizza. I mean, the best I've ever had. And tons of other great gluten-free choices. Probably the best place in Florence to go for g-f. Excellent wines, too. Nice historical atmosphere. The only downside was the service charge. 15%. That makes this restaurant a bit pricier than it should be, really. It seems like more of a local place, which usually don't have these servizio charges as tourist places do. I think a lot of folks go here for the g-f food--there is also a charge for that. So it's a tossup: if you need g-f, prepare to pay a lot more than you would in some other places, but also, you won't get glutened. read more
