    Bloody Mary
    Jennifer D.

I grew up down in Cape May county and have never gone in here until this weekend. My mom and I were strolling the shops of Avalon and decided to stop in here for a late lunch. We each got a Bloody Mary and split the grilled cheese and truffle fries. I've never had a grilled cheese with honey mustard, and now I'm never making one again without one! Nice kick with the cheddar cheese. Generous portion of truffle fries were excellently seasoned. We both loved the spice of the Bloody Mary. Amply outdoor seating and pleasant service

    Filet mignon sliders

The service was nice but not very good. Example: drinks were clenched against her chest instead of held on a tray. The food was not even good enough to be called mediocre. We ordered the filet mignon sliders which were so over cooked they were tough to even cut and lacked any flavor. We ordered a grilled cheese for our daughter which was decent, but came with 3 sliced pickles and no french fries. Overall it was just an extremely unimpressive experience with below average food.

It's fine. Not wonderful. If you want some typical bar food in a place where you can wear flip flops and shorts, this place will work. The food is decent, service is hit or miss, and the beer selection is limited. The space hasn't been spruced up in many years, but it's comfortable. Burgers are good, wings are very heavy, and the cheese steaks are ok.

Just visited the Circle Tavern on 10/23 and was absolutely BLOWN AWAY!! I am constantly traveling the country and absolutely love food and eating out. However tonight we chose the tavern over some of the other fine restaurants in the Avalon area because we wanted a casual setting. While the food was good, the drinks were okay. HOWEVER, our server was phenomenal. I've gone to thousands of restaurants in my lifetime and he was the absolute best. The circle tavern is very lucky to have Jeffery.

Blackened fish of the day sandwich - mahi mahi

We decided to explore Avalon on this beautiful sunny yet windy day. Stopped by this place for lunch on the patio. There's about 5 tables outside and on the other side is a lounge area. Service was friendly. Bathrooms are clean. For lunch we ordered: Blacked fish of the day sandwich - mahi mahi was the FOD and it was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The brioche bun was warm, soft and buttery which was a perfect vehicle for the fish. Sandwich was served with lettuce, tomato, red onions and a pickle. I was a bit surprised that this sandwich didn't come with any sides nor does any of their other sandwiches. Costs $2 to add fries. Grilled chicken Caprese salad - nice size salad with a good amount of grilled chicken. We had the dressing placed on the side due to the fear of salads typically being over dressed. Hubby was happy with his choice and commented on how perfectly cooked and seasoned his chicken was. Overall, this was a nice spot to come grab a light lunch. Very happy with our choices and we will definitely come back and enjoy their patio seating once the weather gets a tad bit warmer. They are open year round which is great. Most shops and restaurants are closed until May which is typical in these small beach towns.

Elevated | Intentional | Salmon…read more Elevated - This is one of the more elevated dining experiences on the island. From the moment you walk in, you can tell the restaurant is designed for people looking for something a little more special than a casual meal. It strikes a nice balance between upscale and comfortable, making it equally suited for a romantic date night, celebrating a special occasion, or enjoying a more refined dinner with friends or family. The atmosphere feels polished without being overly formal. Intentional - Everything about the restaurant feels thoughtfully designed. The menu is curated rather than overwhelming, with dishes that seem carefully crafted instead of trying to be everything to everyone. The dining room layout also deserves credit. The tables are spaced in a way that gives you privacy while still maximizing the room. Servers move through the restaurant with ease, and you never feel like you're bumping into other guests or having conversations on top of one another. It's clear that attention was paid to both the guest experience and the overall flow of the restaurant. Salmon - I ordered the salmon, and it was one of the highlights of the evening. The fish was cooked perfectly--tender, flaky, and moist--with an Asian-inspired seasoning that added plenty of flavor without overpowering the salmon itself. The accompanying sides complemented the dish well and created a balanced meal. What surprised me most was the portion size. At a restaurant with this level of presentation, I expected a smaller serving, but the portion was generous and left me completely satisfied. I would absolutely order it again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting. Pro tip: Make a reservation, especially during peak dinner hours or weekends. It has the feel of a place people choose for special occasions, so tables can fill up quickly. Pro tip: Come dressed for the atmosphere. While there isn't a strict dress code, business casual or date-night attire fits the vibe and helps make the experience feel complete

Just a kitchen and bill surprise otherwise 5 star service. We started with excellent martinis and the shrimp cocktail. Five pretty good size pieces of shrimp, but they tasted like they had just been dethawed in terms of flavor and texture. I definitely would not order it again. For entrées, I had the crabcakes which were good, but lots of filler. Not near enough remoulade sauce for two crabcakes. My wife had the scallops. She asked if she could substitute the vegetables for spinach and the rice for sweet potatoes fries. Our server said that would be fine and did not say there would be an "up charge" for doing that, nor did I see that mentioned on the menu (I mean you did note an up charge for Caesar salad or lobster bisque substitution). We probably would've ordered it anyway, but we should've been told upfront if we made a side substitution, they were going to charge us more vs a surprise on the bill. The 5 scallops were small but tasty. Initially they brought the scallops with asparagus and French Fries by mistake. Our server noticed and had them go back immediately and fix the order. Still, I had to start alone. Had me scratching my head that they brought the wrong order and still up charged us by surprise for the side substitutions. I would have expected a discount for the kitchen mistake vs an increase in the bill. I asked our server about the up charge and she said that's the way it is. Disappointed to say the least.

This year we decided to return for our anniversary and I'm sad to say this was our last visit to Provence. What a disappointment! We started with a $9 bread basket and the inside of the bread was frozen! We told our server and they brought us a new one at the same time as our appetizers. They really should have taken off the bill. We didn't even eat it. The appetizers (mussels, lobster ravioli, and french onion soup with mushrooms) were very good. The entrees were awful. The trout was really salmon (I know the difference although it can be subtle). It was overcooked and served with overcooked cous cous and frozen, shriveled peas. The short rib was over salted and topped with banana pepper slices straight from the jar and some kind of salty chips over a parsnip, mashed potato yuckiness. Also, we noted on the reservation that this was a birthday and anniversary dinner and it wasn't even acknowledged by the staff. It's evident the "chef" was not the same as our last visit. The food and the service were below average at best. It's a shame.
