Stopped in after a long day driving. They offer hamburgers, hotdogs, tacos, onion rings, slushies, and ice cream. The posted hours were 11 am to 10 pm. We got there a little before 10pm and they stayed open and served us and more people who came in. I didn't see grilled cheese on the menu board, but the lady said they could make one for me. My son said his corn dog was really good and my daughter loved her chocolate peanut butter milkshake. The people working there were very nice. It's a cash only business. read more

We had to wait a lonnnnnnnnng time for our food. But there was a rush when we were there (at 3pm!). But the wait was completely worth it. The kids had hot dogs that were huge and the buns were toasted. I had the grass-fed burger with cheese and bacon. And they don't skimp on the bacon. It was one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. So so good! We also ordered the chicken. We weren't anticipating it to be fried; thought it would be baked. But as long as you know what you're getting, it's all good. Tiny little place but well worth the stop. Ordered a double bacon cheeseburger, rounds and ice tea. Everything is made to order so you have to wait a few minutes. Not a big deal. Be sure you have a large appetite and bite for the double cheeseburger. It's huge!! Very good tasting. The rounds were basically flat tater tots. The ice tea was small even though I ordered a large. For a very small town this was a pleasant surprise. I would definitely recommend it if you're passing through. read more

My wife & I had dinner here while staying overnight in Murdo. I had the bacon cheeseburger which was good but for $4.55 we felt it should have been deluxe (lettuce, tomato or even onion). She had the Hawaiian Grilled Chicken Sandwich that only had a pineapple ring on it - no lettuce or any sauce (usually has terriyaki sauce). It did have a good size piece of chicken breast. We had very good onion rings that were made with real onions which unfortunately has become unusual most places. Like an oasis in the night... we rode in late one night - stayed at a motel nearby... hit up YELP and found the Murdo Drive-In with too many good reviews I trooped over the girls - and WOWZER! too bad the vegetarian stayed back in the room to sleep! It's not often that you pull into a random drive-in in a town you've never heard of and get BLOWN AWAY. But this was my experience at the Murdo Drive-In. The ammunition was the simple, unassuming Garden Salad ($6.25) with optional Grilled Chicken ($3.50). The salad bed was a lettuce/spinach mix, topped with an amazing array of fresh, crisp veggies: broccoli, cauliflower, three colors of bell pepper, radish, tomato, snap peas, etc! I was in veggie heaven. Lots of dressings to choose from as well. I can recommend the Chipotle Ranch. The hubbie had the enchiladas and also enjoyed those as well as his chocolate malt. read more

We've stopped at a number of drive-in places on our trip through Nebraska/South Dakota and this is one of the better ones. Better-than-average food (as the wife said, the tacos tasted like the kind you'd have if you were a guest in someone's home) and decent service. A great stop along I-90 in middle-of-nowhere-ville (aka Murdo) South Dakota. My family and I decided to swing by for a late lunch based on the recommendations of other Yelpers, and were not disappointed. The Cyclones (think DQ Bizzards) and fries were fantastic, and the burgers/sandwiches were delicious with generous portion sizes fresh fixins. I tried the fried macaroni and cheese (based on another Yelper's recommendation) and loved it. My kids didn't care for it (meh, what do they know?). I should add that the staff are friendly, and this seems to be where the locals all like to come on a warm day for an ice cream cone or a grilled cheese sandwich. With inside or outside dining, this local dive is highly recommended as a pitstop on your next family road trip. read more

Everyone was ridiculously nice to us here. They truly cared about our happiness. The burgers were delicious and the onion rings were my favorite kind, with a thin, crispy batter. Yummy! This place is super family friendly. We were all thinking about how we could go back on our way back through. Oh my goodness. This place was so good. We stopped for lunch and though they were busy, (and say they're slow on their website) they were perfect. We got a grass fed beef burger, Hawaiian chicken sandwich, large fries and onion rings. They were so good. Our family of 4 eaters shared both the fries and onion rings and they were plenty for us. Surprising place to find in Murdo! Grass finished beef, which is the real deal and hard to come across. Clean bathrooms, friendly staff. They take pride in their full operation. All of their grass fed beef comes from a local ranch. They grind the whole animal into hamburger, so you are getting prime cuts in your burgers. The cows are not fed any GMO products and given no antibiotics or hormones. read more
