This was an excellent find on I-90! The burgers are great and the salads have fresh veggies and off-the-grill chicken if you like. We were pleasantly surprised that they had gluten free buns (which are hard to find in big cities, let alone small towns). Beware the banana split if you're on a road trip because it's nap:30 after you eat (or even share) this delicious monster. We found this cute place traveling cross country two years ago. Friendly service and fresh cooked to order food--served nice and hot. Shakes and "Cyclones" are excellent. Stopped again today for lunch on our way to a family reunion this summer. We'll be back again! read more

Really great place, so glad that we found out about it on Yelp. We got there about 11:30 on our way to the Black Hills. The burgers were amazing; big thick juicy patties from a local grass fed farm. I also had the onion rings which were great too. By they time we left shortly after 12:00, the place was packed. Didn't have room for ice cream, which I was bummed about. Would have liked to try the rhubarb shake.. Definitely a hidden gem! read more

After driving for hours and seeing nothing except truck stops and gas stations we were so excited to find the Murdo Drive-in just off of exit 192 of the I 90. The grass-fed burgers were juicy and delicious. They also have an array of other sandwiches, and tacos. My only regret is that I was too full to try the ice cream. read more

From being back east, we stumbled upon this place driving to the Black Hills. Seriously in the middle of nowhere, this little Drive In serves up big taste with wonderful caring service. We sat out front with growing tomato plants and other vegtables. What says more fresh than the vegy's out front? The burgers were steak burgers unlike the burgers we have out in MA. The taste was out of this world and both my kids got 2nds! Wonderful folks out west and at this restaurant. Wish we lived closer, maybe a visit again some time in the future. Stopped in August 20 for dinner. The staff was small-town friendly and accommodating, the dining room was clean, and the food was delicious! I had a plain cheeseburger and french fries, which came hot in a small bag. Both were delivered promptly to my table after I ordered and paid for them up front, as was my drink. One of the counter staff, and the manager on duty stopped by my table to ask about my meal. They were very friendly! I have already begun recommending the Drive-In to everyone I know driving across South Dakota. I can't wait to go back! read more

We were traveling east through South Dakota and needed a good spot for a quick bite to eat. Murdo Drive-In delivered much more than expected. The burgers were tasty but they had many more options than that. Broasted chicken, veggie burgers, a delicious sloppy joe, soft serve ice cream and even a gluten free bun option gave good choices for all. If you are in this area don't worry. THIS is an oasis for those of us who want simple but great food. The grass fed burgers are huge and very good. The lettuce tomato and onion were fresh and delish! This restaurant offers chicken and other items but we all chose the burgers. Warning the grass fed burgers are huge! There are not a lot of choices along this road...it's a treat. This is a five star rating for a fast food drive thru, not fine French cuisine, so do not compare the two. That being said.... Thank you... Thank you ... Thank you Yelp!!! Without you we never would have found this gem on our drive thru South Dakota. The place was clean. The staff was adorable!! Super friendly!!!! The broasted chicken is some of the best chicken I have ever eaten hands down. Yes, we had to wait a WHOLE 15 minutes for it, but played a little catch with my sons outside and before long there was our tray. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Took quite awhile to get food. Hubby had the chicken, which the pieces were on the small side. Ordered a $2 side of tater rounds and get a large bag that was only half full. My chili dog was very good and I tried a rhubarb shake for the first time. Really good! read more

Wow, what a find! The locals all eat here because they know how good it is. Had the Smores shake-delish! We also had the tacos and a Hawaiian chicken sandwich., and the broasted chicken. All great., very clean, reasonable, a little gem. My husband commented on how delicious and ripe and red the tomatoes were. Our waitress brought him out a bag of three perfect homegrown tomatoes to go-free! Very special place-only open summer season. read more

Very good meal. I had the bacon cheeseburger with fries. Burger was really good, although a bit smaller than I usually enjoy. Fries were very much above average. We took it as a good sign that there were six state troopers eating dinner here when we pulled in. It's a great little local spot that fit the bill for a nice break from I-90. We got the grass-fed local burgers. They were handmade, lean and not at all greasy. They even had an article about the farmers taped to the counter. We also tried the milkshakes made with rhubarb from a local garden. Very tasty - not too sweet. The fries were thin and crispy. Onion rings were nicely seasoned, if a tad greasy. This was a really fun stop. Great people watching with a very diverse clientele. In addition to the state troopers, there appeared to be a van load of retired/disabled vets, a Chinese family from New York and a healthy dose of local kids stopping in for ice cream on the way home from the pool. The employees were very polite and helpful young ladies who were patient with our lack of familiarity with the menu. Bonus: super clean restroom, which is a rarity on a long road trip. read more
