This restaurant has probably gone through 3 or 4 management or ownership changes. The new furniture looks attractive but the menu hasn't changed much. Both servers were very friendly and hospitable. Food was ordered and arrived quickly, very piping hot from the grill. Food was decent and there really isn't much of a choice to find a sit down restaurant in Murdo so this is the spot to go to.

On our way to Rapid City needed some food. I wanted something easy and this seemed to be the place. You are warmly welcomed and treated very well. We were seated in a clean area. The menu is very simple. I ordered the chicken finger sandwich. Make sure you put the Mayo on. It's pretty dry and lots of breading. But the taste is decent. The cheese doesn't add to the flavor for me. My wife had the buffalo (should be Bison) burger bunless. It wasn't bad but good and lean. The fries were normal but not spectacular. Probably would stop here if ever needed.

Cute little cafe, we'll kept, clean and great service!!! Stopped for breakfast on our way through and had a great meal. Everyone in our group had omelettes and they were all delicious. Definitely recommend stopping!

Travelling through South Dakota I decided to give the Covered Wagon a try for brunch. There is plenty of parking space this time of year but the tourists haven't invaded yet. The building also houses the auto museum gift shop and the auto museum. I found a table that had been cleared and was greeted by a friendly server ready to take my order. I ordered the Indian taco and a cup of coffee to get my day started. The taco was very good and the portion size was plentiful. The cleanliness of the place certainly leaves a lot to be desired. If I was rating the place on just cleanliness and the food my rating would be 3 stars but the service was worth an extra star. The lady waiting tables was working alone and servicing every customer in the place. The price was fair for the amount of food I received and I would return for another Indian taco.

We got stuck in snow storm I90 was shut down or I would have never noticed this place. It was across street from truck stop so we slowly made our way over, wind, snow etcc.. It was really good, employees so nice owner was cooking he even gave us a ride back to truck stop because of the weather,it was to bad to walk, wind was knocking me over lol.He said he does it alot for truckers, really thoughtful man, super friendly server. Food was awesome,I got meatloaf which I am southern so it was bland tasting but it was good if that makes sense. It was cooked perfectly with onions but thats all it had in it..Everything else was great. Will go back anytime in area, prefer mom and pop places anyday. The car museum was closed not sure due to covid or seasonal Hubby ate cherry cobbler before I could get pic

Friendly fast service, kids loved their cheeseburgers and shakes, we loved the unique (and authentic) fry bread Indian tacos. Authentic small town interior. Perfect "on the way home from Mt. Rushmore" dinner adventure!

Wonderful food and service. Considering there were only 2 servers and one bus person. As far as the souvenir store connected and the products they sell that shouldn't cause someone to give a bad review of the cafe. Sad someone felt different.

I had the meatloaf dinner. Was priced pretty high for portions that you receive the food itself was good and the service was great. The bathrooms were very dirty.

Food was good, service was good but disorganized due to how busy it was (meal came before the salad). Price wise I think it's a little pricey compared to the quality of food.

I'm sitting on last day of my reset in Murdo, SD. I was gonna walk down to the Rusty Spur again and decided to just cross the street from the flying J and see what the Covered Wagon offered... I didn't get pics cause when I walked in everyone was looking at me... guess my new guy face stuck out... it was quiet in there ... even the kids were quiet.. you get a huge locals vibe when you walk in... I sat at the counter and looked at the menu which was quite small.. mostly burgers, fried food, and breakfast... the waitress greeted me nicely and informed me of the daily special, a beef plate which I opted for... it was a beef sandwich but with mashed potatoes on top and a dark gravy with some corn on the side... it was actually pretty darn good... I ordered a side salad as well... I walked out not overstuffed and it wasn't much more than a 20$ bill after the tip... it's right across the street from the truck stop .... not a bad place to eat if your stopping in Murdo.. check it out!

Great breakfast. Great service. Very clean and well taken care of Cafe. In this world of fast food it is nice to go to an old school cafe.

As we road tripped across America during spring break of 2018, we found ourselves spending the night in the small town of Winner, a place with few dining options. At 6:00 p.m. on a Tuesday night, most local businesses had shut down for the evening. McDonald's and Subway were options, but both have built global empires by serving substandard food that our family refuses to eat. The local Pizza Hut has been dubbed the "dirtiest in America." But then, standing on the eastern outskirts of town, a shiny beacon summoned us from afar, that vaguely elliptical emblem with the letters DQ in the center. This was the best option for dinner in Winner! The chicken strips, cheese curds, and french fries were on par with other Dairy Queens, as were the endless ice cream treats, including a rare DQ with my favorite butterscotch dip cone. They even had the modern soda machine with a push button touch screen to select any drink you could possibly want. And they have a giant spinner with different flavors of blizzards if you can't make up your mind. Thanks for living up to the DQ standard!
